Google play No more. - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I was just on the Google play store on the computer looking at the devices section and it looks like they have taken the Zu gpe edtion off of the store. Only 3 gpe editions plus the nexus now. I wonder what's going to come next?

They were sold out of the ZU and some of the others about a month ago. It's also coming up to the 'next season' for phone releases...

Expansys got them all. Well maybe not all but a very large number of them.

I don't see why folks want gpe devices. Or why anyone would want stock android at all. It's a generic rom that's optimized for nothing. Except maybe the nexus. Get the Sony version with software that was designed for the hardware.

I do have the Sony version with the gpe ROM on it. I like the gpe ROM because of no bugs and feels lighter and smoother. I had to much lag on the 108 version of Sony. I love the Sony ROM but its not perfect yet and I'm waiting for that to happen.

Just pre-ordered my nexus 7!
It will be my third tablet, and will replace my tf101 as my "on-the-road" tablet since its smaller and more portable. My tf101 is going to become part of my home-automation project, and I hope it will become the portable console to control all the things in my house.

I don't think so as we didn't actually port ics to rezound we got a leak.
HTC is most likely gonna finish their ics rollout to all their devices before starting jelly bean even though they probably already have the pdk...

This phone looks better and works better, but I'm craving some Google NOW, the full version, not the hacked version to work with ICS, is really convenient when traveling. From my hotel reservations, points of interest etc.

I wouldn't be jealous. I gave Touchwiz an honest try and just don't like it. A lot of what Samsung does is kind of redundant to everything Android already does. I wouldn't even want to use JB on this phone. This UI 3.0 really doesn't offer ANYTHING unique besides Quickmemo, which is something that can just be added on to an AOSP build.

While I can't say I disagree with what you say here about the UI... I would REALLY miss the dewdrop lockscreen on an AOSP build.
I really like AOSP, but I far from hate the latest Optimus UI... which I rarely say about manufacturer UIs.
To each their own though... I wonder how fast JB would be on this baby.
I'm assuming you wouldn't mind an AOSP JB build?

Looks cool but I just don't think I'd want a 5 inch screen phone. My roommate has the DNA and its just an awkward transition from something like our 4.7", to the Note 2. If I was to go 5+, might as well just go bigger and get the full advantages.

The Optimus G Pro (E940) is coming to AT&T.. It just never had an official name before.. That is probably why they dropped the outright price to $450.. If they could fit a 5" screen in the same chassis as the regular Optimus G, I could bite.. Don't want to go any bigger though.

Nice to see that they're making improvements, but as of yet it doesn't seem like a dramatic enough upgrade to consider replacing my current SGP
They really should either let their distributors know or eol an item AFTER replacing it. Back in feb their distributors told me the players were eol, so I have been searching China for a suitable replacement (wasting plenty of $ on r&d) and now I find *here* that the sgp2 is coming. Thanks a lot Samsung.

Just now selling my GP5. Slow with the new ROM, inconvenient. Guess I'm just gonna have to settle for the new iPod Touch for now. -_- The thing had great battery life, except that it only went to 90% (???). Why can't they give any of these media players the new tech??!

Well, the nexus 4 now costs the exact same price as a GP ($200!), so I really dont see a way that samsung will have any success with a new media player.
GP 2
Woah! That's the first I heard about that (lol):victory:. Awesome news; great competitor to iPod. I'm really likely to get that now. Samsung may actually have to put quality technology forward to stay in the market. Considering their position, they'll probably give up. :victory:

Yeah, I don't have much hope that Samsung will ever do anything good for the SGP fanbase. At this point, the only reason they're still relevant (in this niche) is because nobody else (besides Apple) offers a full-featured media player.
At least if they come out with an updated player with similar hardware, we'll have official 4.x drivers that can be backported to the earlier versions.
