Ok so I bought the LG g3 yesterday and I am loving it. The screen is gorgeous without any complaint.
I loved the screen-off effect from knock-on and I have the Black hole effect. However, it worked right after I bought the phone, but I changed some settings here and there now screen goes on and off with knock-on, but it does not give the screen off effect.
Does anyone have the same issue?
Does your Settings->Display->Screen-off effect still show "Retro TV"?

No, it shows as Black hole effect becuase that is what I had. But I can switch to Retro TV, but it still doesn't change anything.
Bump, sprint user here with the same issue. I'm using art as my runtime and a few other dev settings, tried rebooting and switching the screen off settings back and forth with no luck. I'll switch back to dalvik and try again just as a wild guess...

Did you guys happen to change any of your Animation Scales in Dev Options? That i think can do it and possibly ART may screw with it

Confirmed, animations set to .5 powered down and reset the screen off animation setting. Don't know if all that was necessary beyond the animations but its working again. Thanks for the help
change animation duration scale to .5.... frm developer option.

Whenever I push my power button to pop up my Lock Screen, it usually takes about 1-2 seconds to react. (same with the home button actually - not so fast as the one on the iphone)
I removed the water effect and I also changed the unlocking mechanism to something else but nothing really helps. Still 1-2 seconds before my screen wakes up.
Is there any way to improve this wake up time? My Google Nexus One was faster, my brothers HTC sensation wakes up faster and my friends Galaxy Nexus and HTC one S wake up faster.
I want my Galaxy S3 to wake up faster aswell! Any tricks, tips?
The phone needs to wake up the modem first. It's a design flaw that can be found at least in the Galaxy S and S2, too. I'm not sure if there's a fix
I think this problem existed in earlier Galaxies as well.
All you have to do is to download Softlocker from the market

Do you use the stock launcher?
T.
you have to disable s-voice's double press of home button.
unlock your phone and launch s-voice.
press the left soft key (menu), settings will popup.
below the language untick the "launch s-voice".
that's it.

Unfortunately this is not work for everybody.
Still there is a delay on my phone, this is not rom nor s-voice related, I think this is samsung thing, I hope they give an attention to this wake up delay...

Someone have found any solution?
no, thats the way deep sleep works
hi guys,
im finding this slightly annoying .... made worse by the fact that the previous rom i was running had a fast wake mod, so this makes my current one seem even slower
try blackbox rom 1.3.1 from darksideagent site, and make sure to select fast wake mod in aroma
cheers

as mentioned by @marcel_miller above, softlocker simply disabled deep sleep and now it's just instant lock and unlock.

Hi guys, can someone explain to me two things sony said about new ICS on Sola:
1. Extended Lock Screen - what does that mean, it seams the same to me?
2. Resizable widgets - which ones are they, how to resize them?
Thanx

This has to do with the 'Glove mode usage'. When glove mode is enabled, you can with your finger not touching the screen ( or glove ),unlock and use the phone as normal, without touching it. Floating touch throughout the OS, not just in the browser. And you have this circle to tell you where your finger is pointing. If you lock your phone, and unlock with the bare finger touching the screen, it switches back to normal mode ( even though glove mode is still on ). Lock again, and if you unlock with the finger in the air, glove mode is used
To sum up, when glove mode is on, you can use the lockscreen to switch between using glove mode, and normal touch mode. This helps, as you dont need to go to setting to turn it on and off. If glove mode is off, this doesn't work, which is self-explanatory

Press and hold a widget in the homescreen. After you confirm it's place, you get 4 little diamonds on the borders. You can use these to extend it vertically and horizontally. I think it's a feature introduced in the ICS update itself.

Oi ! do not bump up old threads which isn't necessary and do not post irrelevant comments. Your Post has nothing to do with what OP Said.
Hey guys.
Just found this free app on the market. It's mostly for the ppl who are using custom roms that lost the ability to use Auto-on/off when you use a flip cover. This app is able to turn off/on the screen with light and/or proximity sensor. So whenever you close the lid, the light is gone, tablet notices and locks. Hope this works for you.

- It's not my app, just a heads-up.

The app works though it leaves an annoying notification item in the tray. Is there a way to get the magnetic function function back? Would that be something cyanogenmod does or we would have to hax back?
Go to "System settings > Apps > Downloaded > IntelliCover 2.0 and then untick "Show notifications", no more notification icon. Hidden thru Android.
- Well, my Nexus 7 2012 had cover on/off built into the CM and AOKP's.. So I reckon once the devs find a way to do it, it will be implemented. As I have said before, I think that more ppl getting the GPE will help a lot on AOSP builds.. More devs, more source code from LG and so on.. I hope more people will pick up one or the other edition of the tablet over the Holidays. Basically, if the devs could do "teh hax", they would have by now I guess. ^^ I'm sure it will come at some point. I'm not very good at that stuff, so I wouldn't even know where to start, sadly. But it will be doable, I'm sure.
Okay lol, I can't use this in dark rooms and gets over sensitive in other cases but for now it will work fine. Thanks!

Lol, damn. I was wondering if it would mistake darkness for pitch black. :/ Well as you said, better than nothing I guess?
Works fine for me too except in very dark room. In this case, I just have to knock on the screen to wake up and it stay awake but it misss a light calibration.
Moreover, In the app, you can switch off Wifi at the same time the screen is off (and Wifi switch on when screen is on, off course) . It's very useful and battery saver I guess..
---------- Post added at 11:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:53 PM ----------
There is a calibration process for light senser but I I don't it. It says "put your device in your bag/pocket/cover and press the calibrate button above"
Hey dude, if my device is in my pocket or in its cover, I CAN'T press any button.
I tried to press the calibration button before close the cover but now it doesn't work anymore !
Hi Guys,
I moved from IOS to Android with the lovely mate 10 recently. The feature I miss most is the raise to wake.
After trying different apps, gravity screen is the one that works the best.
However, after lock screen for more than few minutes, the screen wake up stop working.
When I charge my phone, it works 10/10, so i suppose it is related to battery saving features of the EMUI.
Anyone has any suggestion to fix the problem? I have so far tried "ignore battery optimization", "launch manually".
THe app tells me to use protected apps but I do not see anywhere in EMUI settings.
Have you tried toggles in settings>Battery>Launch>Select gravity app>Run in Background

yes i have allowed all three launching methods. (self-trigger, triggered by others and running in background.
The problem seems to be the sensor being turned off after screen goes black for a while.

its more about the EMUI 8 I guess, than the app itself.
Hello guys, Any updates on this issue? I have the same problem.
Thanks

I have found out how to sort it out as per Rogerrynic quote below.
rogerinnyc said:
It's buried, but you have to "ignore battery optimizations" by going into settings, then apps, then clicking the setting button at the bottom of the apps page, then "special access" and then "allow" the apps you want to survive in "ignore battery optimization". At least that's how it's on my Mate 10 (non-pro), so I suspect it's the same for you.

Has anyone else noticed this or do I have a bad light sensor? My phone almost always goes to the minimum, or damn near minimum brightness when I turn on auto-bright.
It's not a bad light sensor LG just has it's set to go to 0 opposed to 15 as far as I heard like a lot of other manufacturers do. Hopefully this will be fixed in a future update

Which carrier are you with? I read about auto brightness issues in some reviews (including XDA's) but haven't had any myself.
T-Mobile. I have seen that now, clearly a bug.
LG had the same issue with the Pixel 2 xl. Until it was fixed I had to run Lux app and set minimum brightness to 25. They tweaked the software eventually so like 15 was the new 0 or something like that.

When I'm in a dark room my auto brightness goes to around 12%. I haven't had any problems so far.
I noticed if I change the brightness on the other screen it fixes it.
Ya in light environments the sensor seems to work perfectly but as soon as I go into a dimmed room, not dark, it goes to zero and I can hardly see the screen.

Just tried changing it on the 2nd screen. Weird that you can adjust the 2nd screen while auto brightness is on but you can't change it on the main screen.
solution
Fast Brightness Control Widget from F-Droid or Play
settings-
100%
75%
35%
20%
back out once set or close
create widget
click solar mass you want
Just as easy to turn auto off, which I do on every phone and set it manually and leave it.
I have a fix for this using Tasker. Very annoying problem that got me thinking about returning the phone the first day I received it. Been tweaking this until I got it dialed in perfectly. Your taste may vary but I think I hit the sweet spot, and it's snappy and responsive. Make sure you opt out of battery saving or whatever on Tasker and give it full admin and accessibility privileges to avoid any issues. Works 100% of the time just like stock auto brightness but without the insanely dim screen when indoors. See screenshots...should be pretty self explanatory if you have basic knowledge of Tasker.
