[Q] CM7 giving headache, need advice - Samsung Galaxy 5 I5500

Hi there!
After having a lot of trouble with the default rom of my phone (reboots, frozen screens, wifi not connecting, etc), I decided to try my luck with other roms. After a few tries, I decided to try CyanogenMod 7, and I installed the psyke83 rom. But now I can't install certain apps. I tried from the play store, and tried direct from an .apk. Nothing: the phone reboots as soon as the app starts to install.
And I'm getting tired of this things. I don't want to go back to stock, with all the samsung apps consuming space and instability, but CM7 isn't making things easier for me, if I can't install apps (and essential apps like Maps).
Also, the thought of re-installing some apps, doing the setups allllll over again, fixing the agenda... any way to make a backup of all that things? I've read that Titanium Backup isn't worth it anymore.
So... What should I do? Stick to CM7 (3.0) and forget about installing apps? Go back to stock? Installing a new rom (recommendations will be appreciated)?

Have you installed gapps?
"Maps" won't install without them.
2 good roms are CM11 and OmniROM 4.4
Their latest versions are stable and they are based on android Kit Kat (4.4.4).
You can find them at madteam.co

Yup, after installing the rom, I installed gapps. Searching the forums, a lot of people recommended to reinstall it, and I re-downloaded it from MAD Manager.
But nothing. I was thinking of deleting the play store updates, then rebooting and installing gapps..

[Q] Rooted and flashed new ROM, unable to download from Market?

Sorry - not enough posts to post in development thread.
Anyway, I rooted and installed Das Bamf 1.2.1 tonight and everything's fine on it. Only problem is that I can't install anything Google related from the market - everything downloads fine, but the installation comes up as unsuccessful. I have tried clearing out cache/data for Market, as well as uninstalling updates, but that doesn't help.
Any ideas?

before installing this rom, did you do a full wipe? wipe data/cache/delvik cache?
If the google apps were modded or changed or signed when they baked the rom you will have this problem because all google apps are signed by googles own signing key. So wait for the rom dev to update their rom or use a different rom or delete the google apk in system/app folder and download

Can't get Gapps to install on Cyanogen Mod 7

Was hoping someone can give me some insight here because I am at a loss. I have tried countless times to get Gapps to work with Cyanogenmod 7 but the market nor any of the Google apps show up. The ROM installs fine but after flashing the Gapps package it doesnt show(yes I'm positive I'm using the right Gapps file) I have wiped everyting cache/data/dalvik, tried using the format.zip and nvflash to start with a fresh tab, that didn't work. I've tried installing Cyanogen 6 first, but for some reason that just results in a boot loop. If anyone has this problem or knows what the probelm could be it would be greatly helpful.
Thanks in advance for any help
After booting are you connecting to your WiFi access point?
Market doesn't show until you are connected to WiFi, then it will install the apps directly from the Market.
Yup Ive connected to WIFI, let the ROM run for a bit, restarted countless times. I just cant figure it out. I dont get the account setup screen either, it just goes straight into the ROM itself.
And after you connected to your WiFi did you open the app drawer and click on the Market to launch it?
At this point it should ask for your Google account, ask what Gapps from the market you want installed and then do it.
Thats the problem, the market icon doesnt exist for me to open, none of the google apps show up even though it installed successfully in clockwork.
None of the google apps will show up, though Market should, if you installed the Gapps package and are connected to WiFi.
The Gapps.zip just installs the Market and some of the supporting/needed libraries and files for accessing the Market (plus some other stuff).
Connected to WiFi, launching the Market initializes the Google sign in and the "other stuff" that lets you pick the Google Apps you want installed. It then downloads them from the Market itself.
EDIT:
What version of CM7 are you running and what Gapps package are you installing?

I installed 7.0.3 stable with the 20110307 gapps package.
I'm telling you nothing comes up to install market or any other google apps. I must have installed the ROM about 30 times now. Probably gonna end up being something stupid I'm leaving out.
Have both the Rom and Gapps on your device.
Boot in to Clockworkmod Recovery and do a factory reset, then advanced and wipe davlik cache
Install .zip from sdcard, choose the ROM and install, do NOT reboot.
Install .zip from sdcard, choose the Gapps and install
ReBoot device, connect to WiFi before doing anything else.
Market should appear when you open the app drawer. Launch it to continue.
It's been a while......but I walked my sister through it via email a few weeks ago back...

Ive tried this, it either results in a bootloop or just doesn't work but I'll give it another shot when I get home. Thanks
Try flashing a different rom along with gapps see if that works. If it does then reflash your CM7 rom along with gapps & retest, hopefully it works, if it doesn't maybe trying one of the nightly builds might work.
Did you pull the gapps file from the Cynogenmod website?
Gapps link: http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/gapps/gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip
Getting same thing my self, so don't feel alone.
I am in the same boat. Have gone so far as to do a full NVFlash restore. Gapps will not show. Appears to install without error via recovery but it just isn't there. ARRRRRRRGH!!!!

The fix....eject any microSD cards you have in your device. Plug in usb. Copy update.zip to root. Enter CWM and flash update.zip. Since Cyanogen Mod messes up file structure for some reason external SD card becomes internal and tweaks the device out. If that does not work, nvflash and reinstall CM without an sd card in the device. Hope this helps.
Thanks fosser2...
What I did,
Pulled SD card
Loaded CWM update.zip and recovery folder/file
NVflashed as I was back running V5.1 again.
Vol + power to flash CWM
use CWM to flash CMod 7.0.3
then flashed Gapps
When Cmod loads, I now see the google account and ability to install all the gapps.
Thanks again, Now I can give this rom a spin. I really like Robeets HC, but it was not stable enough for everyday yet. V5.1 has bee running great, but the Netflix on GB brought me to GB.
Having same issue
I keep trying to install google apps but the market, gmail, etc, are not appearing on my screen. Not sure what I am doing wrong but I am having the exact same problem.
Help!

[Q] need help fast!

I recently installed nightly build #6 of cm7 for the first time and I don't have market, Gmail, etc. I have searched the forums and have already tried installing Google apps via rom manager. My phone enters recovery for a split second then rebooted and still no apps. Also my Rom manager is no longer the premium version. Any help would be appreciated!

I don't use any of the nightly builds of CM7.
However, I don't understand why you can't just place the apk onto your root and click to install.
Or better yet, use root explorer and just place the entire apk into the apps folder.
Those 2 aren't options?
Unfortunately I'm not near a computer and I'm brand new to cm7 so I wasn't sure if there is just a quick fix. Also I would like to know how I can get my apps back without having titanium anymore and no market..

[Q] Play Store Crashed

So, I have the AOKP ROM on my phone and I decided to update my ROM through the updater that came with the ROM.
After updating it, I started having pop ups with 'android.process.acore'. It keeps telling me that it was crashing.
So, after researching, I uninstalled my Facebook and cleared my Contact Data etc.
Then I realized that after updating my ROM, my Gmail, G-Talk, and Google Play Store stopped working/uninstalled.
Every time I try to open the play store, it would crash and force close....
After multiple times, I decided to restore factory settings and wipe data/clear cache through recovery mode and reinstalled the ROM the old school way (downloading it online and storing it onto my SD card).
After properly installing the new ROM (AOKP), I still don't have my Google Play Store. I've tried to get my phone to download and install the APK file online, but my phone doesn't recognize the apk file.....
Now, I don't know what to do. I think I f'ed up..... Help? I tried searching it already......
Please and thank you for reading.

Reboot into recovery and reflash the rom and gapps and you should be good. Do a full wipe while you're at it

[Q] From a friend experiencing problems with CyanogenMod

I'm not a very experienced Android user, but I do know a fair bit about it, considered how much I've used it. I decided to root my phone today and I installed Cyanogenmod. I used the new Google Play app Cyanogenmod Installer, and I hooked up my phone, and I thought it had worked. It booted up Cyanogenmod, and when I unlocked the phone, it seemed to be running stock android (4.3.1, Cyanogedmod 10.2)! However, I could not find any way to access the Play Store, or anything else. I tried downloading a Play Store apk on my laptop and putting it on my computer, but after it installed, I was unable to open it. I uploaded my contacts and a couple other game files, which all worked fine, but that is all it allowed me to do. It seems that I used something called Clockworkmod, which I had not heard of, but I was wondering if there was any way for me to get all of my apps back, or at least access to the Play Store. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Make sure you have a Recovery installed such as Clockworkmod recovery, as you will need it for flashing stuff and for backups. After you flash CM10.x, you need to flash GAPPS - these are all of the Google Apps including the Playstore. Search for it online, CM has a GAPPS depository for downloading. Download to your device, and flash in Recovery.
