Shut off steps notification - LG G Watch

does anyone know how to shut offf the app that shows you steps? i know you can mute other apps that are on your phone. but there doesnt seem to be a way to shut off apps that came with the watch, like the steps app.

Go to the steps card. Swipe twice to get to settings. Turn off card.

I have set Show step card to Off, Daily step goal to None and Save fitness data to Off, but the step notification card still shows up. Why can't I turn this off?

It must be a software bug. Have someone reported this?

I also would like it not to report my steps. I have mine set to zero and not save data. Yet it's still tracking my steps.
How can I permanently disable this? Granted after NYE i'm sure I'll want to use it!
Sent from my Verizon LG G3 using Tapatalk

Check that the phone is not doing the step counting and tracking and just sending the card over.
There is a fit for the phone and wear, i sometimes get double step counts, im at 20,237 today..... thats equal to 10 miles of walking and I did no exercise today, just walking at work.

I went to the FIT app on the watch, then swipe left and you can turn off show step card and save fitness data

Smart Actions that I find good

I don't want to be too critical but many Smart Actions I found here or other Razr forums tend to be very restrictive on your use.
Com'on, you bought an expensive fancy phone which uses the fastest 4G LTE network, you paid some premium on those joy. It is never a Verizon LTE Razr if you turn 4G off.
So my bottom line is :
1.I want to be able to surf web/watch youtube/check email on 4G or wifi network when I want to (as opposed to wait for 5 seconds because it was off when screen was off)
And
2. I want to have reasonable battery life.
After some testing, Smart Actions that work on my Razr is
1. At Home: when it detect my wifi, it will switch there.
2. In call: When there is incoming call, turn off Data Connection and Screen turn to 0% brightness. (This is CDMA network, so you can't surf and use data at the same time anyway. Or do you really do a lot of such things? If so, please ignore this)
This #2 will help if you have constant phone conversation of about 30 mins daily. You won't want to burn unnecessary juicy while you are only talking.
3. At work where no wifi is available (for security reasons), I turn it off. I sit in office most of the time of the day, so you won't want wifi keep scanning and eating juice. I used TImeFrame to identify this, not geo location because wifi will need to be turned off.
4. In the night, using the night saver sample, I turned off cell data and background sync.
5. Low battery saver: surprisingly, in this action I only turned it to 0% screen brightness. Why? Just imagine you are using it as GPS or some important task on the road, you dont want to lose the GPS/Data if the battery dropped below a threshhold?
6. Most helpful action:
No Action At Work.
If you are working in office most of the time, your cellphone is quietly sitting on your desk mainly. So if you specify
1. at work
2. movement detection found nothing moving
then disable background sync. it will save the juice and when you turn on the screen to check email, the 4G is always there.
The whole idea , is not to disable data connection whenever you turn off screen. Many times you will have background downloads and sometimes when you turn on the screen, the phone takes some time to restore the data connection. which makes you staring at your phone can wait for a while. quite unfortunate if you have an Iphone user sitting beside you immediately pull the data out, right? =)
Personal settings, hopefully it helps you. It will easily give you 12 hours of usage. and for my charge now: 10 hours later it is at 80%, of course it has 6 hours of night standby.
Let's discuss more TESTED smart actions here? =)
note: if your phone is in your pocket a lot during a working day, don't use motion detection and you know why...
You can use voice and data simultaneously when on 4g. Just fyi.

Yup, it's definitely useful too.
Example: talking to friend on phone about hanging out, go to home screen open Google maps to check when the next bus comes, while still talking to friend

Tasker On The Prime

Not sure how many of you are aware of or are using the app tasker, available in the market...IMO Have to say this is the best app of all time albeit very difficult to use to its full extent...Let me reiterate, the learning curve on this app is like climbing a mountain...just learned about it, so I'm a total noob. Have read the manual and some tutorials, but stuck on the below profile:
Using this profile http://tasker.wikidot.com/yanawa as a base for my transformer prime which has no cell service, just wifi. Imported Wifi connected and Wifi near A profiles, erasing any reference to cell towers and other APs. I'm left with two profiles:
I) Wifi Connected
A. wifi connected
Task
1. Variable set; Name: %WIFIC to 1
2Wait, 15 sec
3. Stop; If %WIFIC !~1
4. Flash; Text "Connected to Wifi"
5. Profile Status; Name, Wifi near A Set off
Exit Task
1. Variable Set; Name: %WIFIC to 0
2. Flash; Text "Wifi disconnected"
3. Wait, 30 sec
4. Stop; If %WIFIC ~1
5. Flash; Text "Disabling Wifi"
6. Wifi; Set off
7. Wait, 3 sec
8. Profile Status; Wifi near A Set on
II) Wifi near A
A. Wifi near home SSID (Toggle checked) -
Task
1. WiFi; Set on
2. Flash; Text "wifi in range"
- Exit Task
1. WiFi; Set off; If %WIFIC !~1
2. Flash; Text "Wifi out of rangeā€; If %WIFIC !~1
The problem is when a Wifi signal is not available, Wifi near keeps searching and toggling wifi, which makes the entire thing useless to me. If anybody could offer nay guidance it would be much appreciated.
I don't quite understand what you're trying to do?
From what I see, is your trying to find out, if you're at home, so that the Wifi gets switched on, and the other way round to save battery? Correct?
Remember, wifi is the method you use to locate your position. So if you switch it off, it can't see where the tf201 is... What you could do is implement another timer, so that Wifi gets switched on every 15 minutes to have a look around. In case it finds your home wifi it stays active. Otherwise it gets shut off again for another 15 min....
Regards,
Chris.
if someone can tell me how to make it notify me (sound) when the micro sd card ejects, I will hit the Thank You Button three times!! lol...i can not figure this out at all. if someone can give me the step by step setup please
It's an absolutely amazing app. You can get lots of preconfigured profiles from their wiki and customise them to your desire. I've been using this app for a while now, first on HTC Desire, then Galaxy Note and now on the Prime. Especially on the Prime that has only Wifi I find that one of the most useful profiles is the one that turns wifi off when my mobile Mifi is not available, and then to switch from Mifi to home wifi and similarly at work.

That would be a cool warning indeed to warn us that the card has ejected. All I can think of at the moment is to search for an app on Play that you can use to eject manually the card, put that under Tasks > 3rd Party in Tasker and tie your eject event to that. Will continue searching for this profile as I think its a really neat idea...

Basically trying to have wifi scan for a specified signal and when available connect and stop scanning...which is what the first part of the above does. However, when a signal is not available wifi continues to scan. Which is what it currently does. What I've done is set the scan's a little further apart, so as to save batt. But my main concern is automation over batt saving.

Alarm Clock - starts to go off in the morning, then immediately stops without input

My alarm clock does not go off as it should in the morning. The alarm begins to go off, and within the first two seconds, it stops without any user input. The only way I can reproduce the behavior is by letting the phone sit without any user input for ~5 hours. If I set an alarm for 30 minutes from now, it works as expected.
I've done a complete restore of the phone, and the issue went away for a while but eventually came back after a few weeks. I didn't make any changes between the last day it was working and when it stopped working properly. This is kind of a major issue given that I use the alarm clock as my only alarm.
Notes:
1. I am using Beans ROM v6 and would post to that thread except I'm new to posting on XDA so unable to do so.
2. This issue occurred when the phone was 100% STOCK, so I know it is not related to the ROM.
3. Using a third party app is a workaround, not a solution. I want a break/fix resolution for using the stock alarm. Ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Bump, having same problem
does not sound like hardware, but it cannot be in your system as long as you didn't do a dirty flash, have you tried formatting your internal and external sd cards?

I have restored back to stock by formatting both internal and external storage, and while this resolves the issue temporarily, the issue creeps back up after a period of time. I read somewhere that this may be a stock kernel issue, which makes sense given the first time I hit this issue was before ANY modifications were made to the phone.
I am having the same problem as well. Alarm stopped yesterday right after the first couple of tones. Then my wife's Galaxy S3 did the same thing today. Both phones are completely stock.
I am just setting multiple alarms now.. I know not the greatest solution but decent temp

Useful Tasker Profiles

I figured we could start a collection of our Tasker profiles that we all use on our G2s. I haven't seen a thread for our specific phone while searching, so I wanted to start one (if there is one and I missed it, then mods, please delete this).
So what do you all use for Tasker profiles? I have one set to turn data on when my screen is on and off when my screen is off, but that's it for now really. I'm not too handy with Tasker yet, but I'd like to get some others set up in the future.

This is default behavior. Unless you're charged by connection time, it is pointless.

This isn't default behavior. What he's asking is to disable all background network activity when his screen is off. Which is pretty silly IMO, but perhaps he wants to monitor his data usage that closely.
Context: State Display->Display State: Off
Task:
Net->Mobile Data: Off
That should revert when the screen is on, so it will turn Mobile Data back on when the screen is back on.
If you really want to run every 15 minutes (for example)....
Context: State Display->Display State: Off
Time->From: 00:00 to 23:59 Repeat: 15 minutes
Task:
Net->Mobile Data: On
Task->Wait 1 minute
However, it might not be this simple. You might need additional logic, for example if Tasker is running the "turn data on for a minute" task and you turn the phone on, it might turn Mobile Data back off, because it'll revert the task. Things like this can introduce a little complication to such things, but not difficult. You could always check if the screen is on before turning off data, etc.
If you really want a way to check if traffic is being transfered, there's a post on XDA about it I found first thing when googling. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1892232
G2 running CM11, disable double-tap wake during calls
I know this isn't a request thread but you guys seem to know your way around Tasker. CM11 has the "double-tap wake" option in Display settings but a common issue is that it isn't disabled by proximity sensor during phone calls causing the screen to turn on and go buck wild sending"face emails" and trading your fantasy football QB away. How can I turn double-tap wake off in a task?
Thanks,
Chip
this is a really useful profile, turns data off when screen is off only if there is no traffic, and checks for new messages or syncs apps every 10 minutes, does other stuff to, check it out

Issues so far

I've only had my watch 16 hours or so (7 of which I was asleep), and I like it, and plan to develop apps for it..... but I have the following issues:
Updated (9 Jul)
Take a note voice command just sends me an email, instead of using something like Google Keep
The screen dims for a second before screen turns off (or goes to clock) - if I do OK Google during this time it ignores it
Set a Timer voice command does not work - options set an alarm menu
No music controls when I use default music player, or RocketPlayer Solved my Wear Music Controller
When doing a voice search, it often says Disconnected. 6 times so far, one time I had to restart watch before it could reconnect.
Dictating a longish email will eventually fail, even though it recognized loads of the words.
Step count often not updated on homescreen widget, despite it showing a higher number in the actual watch app
Dismissing a google now card (weather for example), you can't get it back if you did it by mistake
Navigation started from watch sits on Calulating route... if music playing on phone with screen locked.
Screen stays on while charging (reported by dunjamon) Solved by Slumber
I have it paired with HTC One S with Liberty S4 MAX custom ROM.
Anyone else have these issues (what device do you have it paired with)? Or know how to fix/work around them?
I have 4 and 7 8 D:
Number 1 confused me for a while. I searched everything on my phone before I realised that it had just emailed me. With number 7, I've turned off the step count...yet it still tells me my total of 0.
Also, is with the screen always on settings set to no, when you put it on charge the screen stays on. It's a nightmare at night, I have to turn it off and then boot it back up in the morning. There needs to be some kind of sleep mode or setting to allow the screen to be off while charging.
I've had 3 and 5
5 is a bit annoying. I'm hoping a restart means it won't recur as I go thru the day...

I didn't know about these developer options: Tapping build version several times works, same as a phone. The "Stay awake when charging" option is disabled by default however. I've only recently enabled the "always keep screen on" mode, so will be interesting to see what happens when charging tonight...
Regarding 1) It has started working! I installed Evernote for Android Wear from play store, also Baby Time and Draw Watch. I also resycn'ed all apps using the option in the Android Wear companion app.
Next time I did "take a note", it asked if I wanted to complete Action using Keep or Evernote, so I chose Keep. I also can see Keep in the list of apps on watch (before it wasn't there). The note was stored in Keep. Still works after uninstalling Evernote.
Regarding 4) I installed Music (Remix) Trial from play store, and Pause, Prev, Next actions are now on my watch. Unfortunately, the buttons do nothing. Not sure if this is an issue with my particular phone or what... Anyone else tried this app?

I've already disabled the stay awake while charging option. Unless it needs to be activated and then the watch itself to be set to not be always on. Will have another play tonight.
I've also noticed Keep show up in the apps now after another update. Will test out another note and see where it goes.
Got none of these problems with my watch. Fix for 8: If eg you swiped away the weather just say "ok google, what's the weather". after it told you the card should be back. this works for me, also with others like world clock, steps etc.
Just tried the screen off while charging and it doesn't work. The only way I can get the screen to turn off is to put it on charge and then on my phone set the screen to go off.
I actually have none of these issues...

I hope it isn't the case where everything will only work flawlessly with the latest Nexus devices. Have Google tested Wear with anything older?
I suppose it would make good business sense to encourage peeps to fork out for a Nexus 5 after spending money on a Wear watch...

Number 4, music control, works well with Pandora. I like that I can start Pandora by voice, but there's no way to shut it down the same way.
Number 8, the disappearing cards was giving me hell on stocks. To resolve, I opened a browser on my workstation, Googled "quote xom" or whatever stock, and then the stocks card reappeared. I suspect a simple "Ok, Google...quote XOM" might do the same thing.
None of these issues. Nexus 5 Stock 4.4.4. You are also using a custom ROM so.....

No 3. Timer kicks straight into Alarm picker. Timer does work when you get to Google screen, swipe up and manually select it. But that's not a solution. I'm on stock 4.3.
Having the control issue with google play music and youtube when connected to chromecast he buttons wouldn't work and with youtube wven tho there was nothing playing the buttons were still on the watch and couldn't be dismissed
also having the connection issues if i take the watch out of the reach of the phone the app won't reconnect unless i go into the app myself to do it even then the watch says it's not connected when using ok google
EDIT: Happened again this time can't get the Ok Google working at all
Anybody else having issues where raising your arm to activate "Ok Google"isn't working consistently? We've got 2 watches in the house, and I've worn both. Same issue. Seems like if you don't use it for awhile, the arm motion won't wake the watch back up.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
I'm having some of the same issues. I've had a few smart watches to compare.
-My Gear 2 worked way better as far as waking up when raising my arm. The LG G is difficult to wake by raising my arm.
-Bluetooth doesn't connect automatically when I get back in range of my phone. The other smart watches have done this that I have owned so not sure why this issue exists.
-There's no way to set the screen timeout. This thing times out very quick. Personally, I have no problem charging my batt every night so I would like to take advantage of the 30 or so % that is left on the watch each night by increasing the screen time out, vibration duration etc.
-I have a difficult time getting cards back after deleting even if I search for the stock, weather, etc. again.
-No way to reply to text messages.
I'll add more as they hit me.
