Here I have a customers Galaxy Mega from AT&T, She claims she isn't rooting or installing any types of custom recovery on her phone, we replaced the board on the phone once, and she came back a day later with the same issue. The phone bootloops, but when I try to get into recovery it says "Unauthorized Software has been detected take it to the nearest AT&T store for help" She says the phone was updating, and it does this. This has happened twice now, and I've tried Odin back to stock, and Kies, but at no avail. What is the possibilities, or how can I fix this? Thanks.
I am not an AT&T Representative btw, but her Knox void counter says 0x1 (Which I guess means its tripped)
Usually we only deal with hardware repairs such as cracked screens or components, but we don't want to be left with a dead board.
Thanks for all the help in advance. How can I get this phone to at least just come back on?
I believe she got the kk official update and this has happened to many users i read and this is an official update which is pretty poor of samsung to do this..and if it was updated to the NE7 rom i believe for the AT&T phone then at this time there is no fix as far as i know..this has even happened on the i527m (canadian version) as after the update a bootloop or touchscreen not working and no wifi..so she is telling the truth i believe..and samsung should address this problem as it is their update causing these problems.
On some phones it seems to update alright but the majority of them it is not working out well at all, so i do not think it is a board problem it is the bootloader that could be causing all this grief and many a few other files in the update.
Now i am not sure on the boards you are replacing as they would be good..but as soon as the update comes in again...it could be making the phone act the same way as the last time it updated.

So I have an Optimus T 509 Titanium. I was informed there was an update so i downloaded it. I told it yes to update. Now it seems to be stuck. It displays the LG Logo Then displays the updating screen briefly before immediately Re-Booting.It does this continuously.
Does anyone know what might have happened or how to fix it. The phone is completely stock no mods, not rooted. Hard Reset does not work and emergency mode does. I tried KDZ updater but i get a model ID error when trying the Optimus 500. I spent most of the day looking for the proper one every time I tried one of these http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/ezlooks_model_list.jsp?model=LGP509 Using the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865479 i got an error.
Edit's: changed the title to be more specific. The update in question was the v10L update i do believe. Got another one. It seems that a antivirus program called look out cause the problem. It seems the program also prevents rooting the phone.
Looks like it's LG's fault. If I were you I'd have it warranty repaired.
On a side note, I think that's a boot loop. I'm no expert, so others may be able to help in a while.
Gonna have it replaced. But this seems like something that should be addressed, I see multiple accounts of OTA causing brick on this phone. Since I can't use the LG Update either(for some reason my isp blocks it same with M$ Live services).. so this is, aside from rooting the phone the only way to get updates for me. I mainly think my failure was because of lack of availability of stock firmware. It also seems theres no way to get stock back without a factory firmware either. I'm all for tweaking but not if i can't fix it if something goes wrong.
Firstly, I apologiise if my question has already been covered in another thread, but I didn't find it.
A few months ago, an OTA Samsung update to my English I9300 screwed up and after trying to reboot, it seemed my phone was bricked and wouldn't get past the Samsung logo on startup. I didn't realise at the time that my original USB cable was broken (or I may have been able to fix my S3 with Odin)....so, unhappily, knowing I'd lose all my installed data and apps, I had it repaired under warranty by Samsung, I'd already rooted my S3 long before that, but it still came back from the service centre as good as new, working, albeit missing all my valuable data
Ok, to cut to the chase, last night, about 5 months after having my phone repaired, I took that leap again of rooting it with Odin 3. Now, this is where I'm puzzled.....after starting Odin, and flashing it with "CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.tar" in PDA mode, the box said 'RESET', not 'PASSED', as one would expect. Is there a reason for this? I have since installed a few system root apps such as Titanium Backup, BusyBox, etc and run Triangle Away successfully....all reporting that my S3 is once again rooted; but, what I still can't understand is Odin reporting the flash as 'Reset' instead of 'Passed'. Can one or more of you folk please try to shed some light on this for me.....Thanks in advance

Cheers for that, it's quite a relief it wasn't an error.....just a result I hadn't encountered previous.
Hi all,
A friend of mine has a bone stock S4 that he purchased a couple of months ago, and when he looked at his phone yesterday it had a message about "Unauthorized System Software" found on the device, and it has basically bricked the device. He's tried doing a factory reset on the device to no avail. He is not a techie at all, and has not attempted to root or ROM the device (he didn't even know what the terms meant when I asked if he had attempted to do anything). When he contacted Verizon they basically told him, "Sucks to be you, and oh, btw, your warranty is now void."
Needless to say this is ridiculous, so I was curious if anybody else had run into something similar or had any other ideas on how to try and get his phone back up and running without Verizon's BS.
Thanks!

You could try kies or use the software update utility/repair utility that comes on the phone. Plug the phone into a computer and install the vzw utility. When it comes up select repair utility. It will put into download mode and flash the latest firmware. Used it several times it works great.
Yoshi and Eris,
Thank you both; I will pass these suggestions along! I appreciate the suggestions.
An interesting addition to this story, it appears the S4 in question has its bootloader unlocked. On the phone's bootup screen, it shows the familiar unlocked padlock icon, and a message that says "Custom". It almost sounds to me like a botched system update somehow got pushed to his device, but we're still in the dark about what caused it. He apparently did another factory reset and he's able to use the phone without the unauthorized system software message, but the whole situation is extremely bizarre.
I am having a problem with my SCH-1605. Phone was working great rooted for 6mos and must have updated itself or I just dumbly installed one that screwed the phone up. I tried new sim from verizon (did not work), un-rooting, re-flashing with ODIN with pit and FW as suggested on other posts (for other problems) and did something wrong I forget what , got the triangle thing and then recovered with Kies and every thing supposedly was back to stock (and un-rooted). Called Samsung, went to BB service center and they reflashed firmware (same thing I did I am guessing LOL, but I humored the tech line by letting them do it again). They then told me to ship it to them and although it was not under warranty (2nd owner) they would do the full software re flash(??) and check the hardware (I would be responsible for repair and I agreed as long as they contacted me if over 125$). Well I just got the phone shipped back today with a refusal (void in warranty) to repair for rooted device!! I am pissed at this because it was ALREADY a voided warranty repair ticket. ..No contacting me, just ran it through tagged it unrepairable and shipped it back aaaargh!
Anyway, I am hoping the bright minds and technical expertise of the xda members can help us out with this problem.
I was wondering if I should try another ROM (for another radio) and I was looking at the safestrap method, but I and am leery because I have the VRUEMJ9 build and do not see instructions/files for it. (I am newber, but can follow instructions, have been researching for weeks and finally asking for HELP because I am stumped, confused, with little $$ to buy a new phone right now (full-time got cut to part-time thanks to HC issue but thats for another forum!)
Thank you in advance for any help on this issue!!
Hey guys,
I woke up the other morning with my S9+ rebooting every other second or so. The screen loads the "Samsung Galaxy S9" powered by knox screen and then reboots right away. I can get into download mode easily and can even access the safemode/reformat screen with some luck (if I let the battery drain I can usually pull this off if I plug in the phone and immediately try). I have tried resetting to factory defualt, loading in safe mode, normal boot, and reflashing the official ROM. No matter what I do, the behavior persists. Verizon is sending a new phone, but it won't get here before I leave for a business trip and there is that inside of me that wants to be able to fix this with my own two hands. Any advice? I used the verizon ROM off of sammobile if that is helpful and odin gave me the green light.
nooooo ! I can't believe it !!! we are damned !
I went from galaxy S3-4G (bootloop issues due to bad internal memory chip) ..... to LG G4 (had the f.ing LG bootloop) .... and now S9+ and THIS ?!?
Sorry guy, if bootlooping and you did nothing to get there just before the issue (no flash, no update, no nothing), then it's faulty hardware, nothing to do about it :/

Thanks for the candid response. I'll have to figure some way to get a temporary phone for my trip.
Boot-loop nightmare
I got a new S9 3 days ago and am now on my 3rd new S9. The previous two wanted me to update my system- a a security update. With both phones it sent it into a boot-loop that no one could flash or hard re-set, even when I took the phone back to the store I bought it from. I have the update set to later on my 3rd new S9... afraid to hit update for fear of it happening again. Any ideas as to what is causing this? I run my business off my phone so I would like to use it (;
I didn't transfer over any of my apps from previous phones! Puzzled. Help.
