Why do you need to load a new recovery, just for root?

For users who don't have one and I assume recovery is lost with a fresh firmware flash via FlashTool.

Ah I see where you are heading. Nah never unlocked the bootloader, just rooted it.

Yeah I took the plunge less than a week of having it
But I used Sony's website instead of FlashTool.
I had to upgrade to 314 to see if some of the problems I had with the Z2 were addressed. So far so Good, the double-tap to wake feature was spotty at best and now it works like a charm. Now to see if the proximity issue still exists...(The screen would stay off like it should on calls but the digitizer would still function!)

How can I add adb?

I'm guessing you're running the root but it's not finding adb, right?
If you don't have adb I'm sure it's on Google or these forums in hundreds of locations.
After you have it just put the contents of the root in the same directory as adb is.

Ok, and now by the 2. step, which number I have to select?

cubeundcube updated rootkitXperia and now it installs SuperSU v2.01.

Can someone explain why I'd want to install the recovery?
I don't intend to flash other rooms and my bootloader is unlocked.
Thanks in advance

No i am not going to flash latest supersu coz i dont have recovery

For those wondering where the new version of rootkitXperia with the supersu v2.0.1 is... It is exactly the same link and 20140719 file name as it was before. Try downloading it again and re-rooting again.

Who said you had to install recovery?
Recovery was recommended because new firmware had problems with supersu 2.01 and you had to flash binaries from recovery...now that's history so there's no need for recovery...
Just root device and that's all...

You can try the root tool and let us know if it works. No harm trying. It'll fail to root at the worst.

ERT v11
I just used ERT v11 & tr.apk v3 to root .314 firmware. Worked on 2nd attempt mind you, basically cause I wasn't watching what I was doing lol. But it worked :victory: This was after using pc companion to update to .314 and it wiping my root on .402. But just to let you all know that ERT also works on .314

[Q] Boot loops after rooting

I've got a SGP311 which I've rooted before but have problems with after a while. The rooting is successful and I can do stuff for a while. Then the boot loops start and don't stop until I do a full restore. I've searched for a way to fix this but not come up with anything useful so far. What should I be doing after rooting to stop these boot loops? Which su should I be using?
All help appreciated.

Use Sony Mobile's Update Service to re-install stock firmware.
Use DooMLoRD's XTZ Easy Rooting Toolkit to gain root access.
I use and recommend Chainfire's SuperSU Pro.

You should only have one SU installed at a time otherwise you may get conflicts.
I've done the first two steps as mentioned in Cat's reply and had no problems.

Edit: Things seem to be working fine now, fingers crossed. Thanks to all who helped. Next stop recovery.

Forget about ota update bcoz rooted device never get ota update so I guess theres only one way to unroot your device
That is -Flash it using odin with the same firmware on which your rooted device is running now. Flasing earlier version of firmware will brick your device:thumbup::thumbup:

Help needed: Ota verification issue

Hello, i am currently on 17.1.2.A.0.314, rooted with SuperSU with survival mode enabled. I get the update notification for 23.0.1.A.0.167, but when i download and try to install it, it says verification failed. I had recovery installed previously but i reflashed the stock firmware to remove it( i didn't wipe the data though), but still it says verification failed. Any help would be highly appreciated.

im not sure how they did it then :/
root counts as a modified system because you have the SU binary and superuser manager
As I told in another thread, OTA update with root is pure luck if everything went good and remain root.

You need to carry out an OTA upgrade for that to work not all carriers support OTA. And those that do may carry out checks that fail, try flashing stock UK (unbranded) .314 I know people who've had success with that one.

You might have to settle for avoiding 4.4.4 then, as I don't know how much effort devs are putting I into finding a new exploit when flashing a pre-rooted rom is so trivial.
Ok i'll try that, but if it fails too then i won't update to 4.4.4.

You need custom kernel to root. I was surprised too by reading this bcoz stock kernel doesn't boot when I tried with prerooted rom.
May be op already have custom kernel when he flashed supersu.

That's why you got root access. If you were on stock kernel you will have got bootloop. (still your reply is confusing, I din't get you HAD kernel at time of flashing or not) So better you mention this step in OP that you also requires custom kernel.

Firstly don't create multiple threads to elicit more responses. Maintain the forum etiquettes.
Secondly install xzu dual recovery by nut and then after flashing xzu dual recovery boot into ur desired recovery and flash super su zip
You chose to use Kingroot, which is somewhat controversial tool since it's closed source, and it is, or was, "allegedly" sending info to a server in China, but we don't know. Since it's closed source, we have no idea what it does to your device while it's rooting.
Rooting with an unlocked bootloader is really easy by fastbooting. It takes only a minute, and it's the native way of doing it. You chose to use this more dangerous method instead, even though I and others have mentioned the proper way of doing it several times.
The main reason I wanted root was to gain access to my sd card. I have that now. I could really care less about roms and Yodakernels and ftfsxyz flare files and exploding cpus terminals. Crazy time consuming stuff. Thanx tho. I got what I need

Alright, then all is good I recommend that you update to 5.1.1 when you get it though (or you can manually do it), since the memory leaks have been patched, and the system is much more stable.

Just use the installer if you aren't familiar with fastboot.
From NUT's thread:
1. Make sure you have USB debugging turned ON.
2. Download XZ/ZL/TabZ/Z1/ZU-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-BETA.installer.zip from http://nut.xperia-files.com
Windows:
3. Unpack at C: or somewhere you will remember!
4. Navigate to the resulting directory and look for install.bat, double click it to run;
