Lots of app incompatibilities - Verizon LG G3

I've noticed a number of apps arent available to install on my new g3... particularly Redbox, and now launcher.
Is this because the screen density/size?
And anyone know work arounds other than turn down screen dpi?

You would definitely need to have root and then there is an xposed module that fakes your density

GNL is compatible
I am running the GNL right now. No Xposed changes on DPI.

Yep. It's incredibly annoying. Flowly, ESPN sports center are a few more.

Us bank is compatible but the app does not adjust to the size of the screen. It makes me scroll around on the screen when I didn’t have to do that on the S3. Im going to call them tomorrow and I'll see what they have to say about it.

I sideloaded it. It works fine on the G3 so why they claim it's incompatible is beyond me.

What module is this? It just fakes your density to the play store or what exactly does it do? Is the play store allowing apps to install based on your dpi or based on the phone you have? If the latter, what good would faking the density do?
I miss Tiger Woods PGA golf. I have it on the phone, but the app won't download the additional files.

[Q] App missing from Market

Hi,
Previously I've installed Paradise Island from the Android Market. But recently, I can't find the app in the market any more. So I tried to find it using PC. It says "This app is incompatible with your Celcom Samsung GT-S5830." Anyone know what's the problem?
I think you have flashed a different firmware....

I've changed to high maturity but still can't find it.
Custom dpi (lcd density) seems to cause the "incompatible" problem with the new market.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196417
Going back to 240 dpi and clearing market data makes everything work as it should.
You can then go back to your custom dpi, but most users are reporting the problem comes back after a while.
if you want paradise island you can search ( paradise island pandaapp ) in google

Did it. Other apps that need update came up instead. The app Paradise Island is still not found in the market. =(
I was having this problem, I was trying to install an app and it was showing that my device was incompatible, so, I did a little search and found this https://market.android.com/details?id=net.andirc.erismarketfix&feature=search_result
The Eris Market Fix will fix this error, you need to be rooted to do the procedure, it worked fine for me, I was finally able to install the app.

[Resolved] Market: "this app is incompatible" - WHY?!

I keep getting "This app is incompatible with your Evo" from the Android Market website and the market app (3.1.5) just doesn't give me a download button or show me updates for newer versions of some apps. It was mostly just an annoyance for a while but now the latest Facebook update came out and it won't install. I'm running CM7.1RC1 which is Android 2.3.4, although I never recall having this problem until I updated to the latest Android Market.
I'm also wondering if there's any good way to troubleshoot why the market thinks my device is incompatible with a particular app (like some sort of reason ... android version too high, screen resolution, etc).
Solution: It turns out this is because I had modified my DPI to set it to 210 instead of 240. Once I set it back to 240 the market showed me 17 new updates. It looks like they're checking to make sure the DPI checks out ... bummer.
I installed CM7.1 nightly 202 and I was able to change my DPI and still use the market without problem. It seems there is a fix as of nightly 198 or so.
Some apps are incompatible because of variation in geographical regions... I think the one you are trying is not available for your region/country....
Thanks, but I'm in the US and that's not it. It works fine on the stock ROM, same phone. I'm looking for how to troubleshoot. Is there any way to see what the app restrictions are?

I don't think we would be able to see the app restrictions..only a developer can see it in the console..
if you're using any kind of density changer, it can cause "not compatible" issues.

Hm, I had edited my density in build.prop. I just changed it back to the default and that fixed it! Hallelujah! Thanks for the help.
Now, does anyone know of any way to have my cake and eat it too (that is keep my higher density and still get app updates by tricking the market somehow)?

Not gonna happen unless you can find a way for the market to detect a denisty setting other then what is in your build prop.

Play Store knows my phone is rooted I think?

Ok so, I am running Liquid Gingersense. I have the new combo radio installed. I am using 4ext.
So today I am playing on the play store (PC version). I saw an app my wife DL. I wanted the app too. The play store said that the app is not compatible with my unlocked TB but it is ok on my wife’s stock TB. Why? There is also a post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336245
This guy is saying that a game has shut down on him because he was rooted. Don’t know if there a tie between or it is just a coincidence. But why is an app ok to use on a stock TB but not a rooted TB?
Here is the app I was using:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.webascender.callerid#?t=W10.
That app isn't giving me any issues running nusense.... The other I played for months without any issue.

Ok I will flash the NuSense Rom and see if this helps.
Just to be clear. All I did was download the app and open it. I didn't run it for any period of time.

Yeah depends if the rom you're running changed the LCD density, or much more. Even the smallest tweak can throw off the market.

I never even thought of that. I did change the density a little. hmmmmm.
If you changed the density the market will make apps not compatible. Stock density is 240 and it can be changed I. the build prop.

Wait a little while. I think the Play Store caches information and takes a bit to forget or to force a re-check.
Check what the device profile and name are in the build prop.

Just download an apk from somewhere and bypass market.
Just search name of the app you want and put .apk after it in Google search.

Thanks for your guys help with this. I Just ended up flashing to the ODJDub's ROM. Everything is showing back in the play store. I am not sure as to what happened. Maybe a glitch in the Matrix lol. I did clear the caches and even went as far as installing an old market.apk. But Flashing to the new ROM seemed to fix it. It was not that I wanted the app from the store so much as to finding out that I was being restricted from the apps themselves. I do understand that the app store is device/carrier specific. But it shoild not have made a difference from a stock TB to a rooted TB. That was more the point I was psuhing. I did not nor do I ever like having the restriction placed againt my device. Is that not the reason why we aquire S-off?
I'm certain there was something in your build.prop that IDs your phone to the Market that was blocking this. Knowing your phone is rooted or not, I don't believe, can be checked beforehand. Now, once the app starts installing, it could check. Another scenario that I'm 100% certain of is when the app tries to run for the first time, it can check for root access and at that point, it can run or not run (and warn the user).
The Market can be finicky. My wife's phone runs Skyraider Zeus on her Thunderbolt and has for many, many months. Last week, apps that she has ran in the past now don't appear in the Market. Rest assured, she changed NOTHING in her build.prop file. I login on the PC and she has (2) phones listed, one is "HTC Thunderbolt" and the other is "ADR6400L". The ADR6400L is what the Market thinks is current and apps aren't compatible with that phone because they effectively don't know what it is...
I had issues with the market running skyraider and ikream. Themed markets will cause incompatibility problems sometimes. Maybe try getting LCD density modder pro and use their modded market.

Games

I just got my DNA and when installing my apps I get incompatible warnings when installing a bunch of paid games. Like need for speed most wanted. Anyone else get this and how do we fix it.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I get this all the time, and it is usually due to the rather unique DPI we see spring in these phones. The easiest fix for me is to use LCD Density Pro to download and install a modded version of the play store to spoof a more common DPI. It requires root, and I have to readily often, but it is reliable.
Thanks for the response. I was hoping to TRY and leave my phone stock but I might just need to root it.

"Your device is not compatible"

I was just wondering why some games on the market say "your device isn't compatible" when I try to download them. I'm sure there is a good reason for this, but could someone enlighten me?

I'm guessing the developer just hasn't added it to the list of compatible devices. Might try emailing the developer.
If you mess with your DPI settings you will get that error also. If you are stock then the developer of the game has not updated it yet.

The dpi settings is what lets you change how the screen looks for example tablet mode. You would of had to change your build prop to make that change.

DPI = dots per Inch
It's a measure of display resolution. A higher number is typically associated with higher image quality but dpi isn't the only factor involved with image quality. There are also other factors involved such as display size, display technology, the original resolution the image content was created with, the original aspect ratio the image content was created with and how those original factors are translated if required to the final viewing display situation.

Hey Brudda, so I'm on Beans build 7 and right when I flash his rom I go straight to turning this bad boy into my tiny tablet. I love the little tablet look but like you said some apps in the market will show up not compatible for your device. I want to keep the tablet look and feel, is there a way around this so the app will be compatible?

Try downloading your apps from play store before changing your dpi. Once you get your apps on your device I dont think the dpi change will break them.
