check your charger...i too had this pblm but the pblm is with charger ..it must be broken..if this also not help you then go into safe mode and charge it ...if the battery is charging then there must be an app whih is draining your battery
..

Or go to service and change your charging port..that might be broken

If you're using an app that uses the GPS and you have your screen on bright, you may be using more than the USB port you are plugged into can handle. A PC/Laptop port probably won't put out enough power. You'll want to use a charging block plugged into the wall directly. Look for something that is at least 1A (amp) up to 2.1A for the really power hungry phones and most tablets.
Sir i use 1Amp samsung OEM charger...even i changed also nd no app uses my GPs or other things......Sir charging is really slow....nd if i use phone while charging then it discharges slowly ....even i use an app like opera mini

is it specific to Sony? …..... because I was using iphone's models for many years, and I never unplug it from the lap-top during the day when i'm in the office, and I never get a battery issue!?
I don't think Charing via pc will affect the battery life.
Only stressing the phone while charging will kill the battery.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
I can't see how charging via usb can do anything to the battery? The standard charger is only a transformer so its at usb voltage for charging
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
thank you guys for your comments;
but anyone have an evidence for that? I mean: any one get a issue after charging its phone via USB all the day ? or it's just theories? ..... I'm doing that for many years, and I never get an issue! or maybe because I'm changing my phone every one year .. more-or-less! so if the impact of the charging can comes after 5 or 10 years, I don't mind! anyway the mobile is obsolete after so many years ...
if u read on ur charger (AC) : 5.0VDC , 850mA
while USB plug is 5V 500mA "in general"
this means AC will charge faster and USB will take longer time which may affect battery stats set by android OS..
i passed through personal experience with my arc S
thanks amfirbek92; ... so the problem is maybe due to Andoirdoid! because I started using android only two months ego! ....
I read in the XDA forum, (I'm not able to find the thread!) that android stop charging when the battery is at 100% and start recharging when it became at 90% again and again if the mobile is still plugged to the charger! is it the case ?
if yes, so if I'll keep my mobile plugged to the AC charger all the day, this will not afect the battery ! right ? ...
Something like rom manager, you need root, I'm sure has an option for resetting the battery stored stats etc, so i think it effectively has to learn again. Might be that simple?

that's right..if u use ur cell while it's 100% charged and still plugged into AC u'll see battery will decrease to 90% then restart to charge..anw cleaning battery stats u can find it by flashing a cwm recovery this is useful :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1596285 here u must reflash back the kernel.sin (be careful to follow instructions)
or an easier way is to flash this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729280&highlight=cwm it's an advanced kernel stock based and has DL recovery (i didn't try it yet )
thanks Ben, .... I've an old x10 pro, rooted that I'm using as a “guinea-pig” to learn more about android rooting, I'll test if ROM manager can offer this option.
thanks amfirbek92 .... for the moment, I'm not ready to root or flash my xperia S, I'm still a noob in android :silly: .... I don't want to break it !!

Dude, i have the same problem as you. When my phone is plugged in, it takes forever to charge it and if i am using it when charging it will quickly discharge. Really annoying.
Slow charging
I think i have the same problem.
when i charge my phone over night, the battery is in the morning only 40-50%
I tried my old htc desire charger and the normal s3 charger, but it does not make any difference.
What can be the problem? my charger, battery or my phone itself?
FYI, I did a Kies update and that fixed my battery problem. Try it. It may work for you to.
it happened to me too
what I did was u changed my USB cable
it solved my problem
try this

Galaxy S3 Charging problem-disappointing and annoying
Dear All......HELP !!!
I bought a new S3 and i loved it.....everything was perfect...it was on ICS>
Now i have this problem since few weeks back....suddenly my S3 will not charge....sometimes only 3 to 4 % up whole night....very very slow.
Even the LED light is dim when charging.....
ALSO ...sometimes it is not charging then i unplug the cable from cell phone put it back.....its charges but after a few seconds it stops charging....worse when i connec to PC.
I tried twisting the cable....first i tought some problem in the connection point of cable to my phone....i changed cable nothing.....
is it hardware issue of my phone where it connects to charging cable or is it Jelly bean????
im really disappointed that how come a new phone (only 1.5 months old) can have this problem.....
PLEASE HELP ME.....I CANNOT CHARGE MY MOBILE.......from wall or USB....im starting to hate samsung ...although i used Galaxy S Plus...and loved it.....
Also my screen is less bright and yellowish than my wifes S3. i mean the white is not white is yellowish white (off white color)
Thanks please help
Most likely the Samsung charger, many faults reported.
S1/S2/ BlackBerry and many others work on the S3
My galaxy S3 charges slow like in an hour and a half I only get 10 - 15 % increase compared to before I got like 30 - 50%. I don't think its the charger cause I tried charging my sister's S3 and it charged normally. Should I calibrate my battery? If so how should I do it? Thank you in advance.

your kernel settings might be screwed up if you are using custom kernel.
If you are using custom kernel than reset all settings in kernel than reboot. or simply flash the the file from the link below and it will clear all settings. than reboot. it might solve the problem. It worked for me...
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1wtlzhv8tq1cybv/clear data.zip?m
If it dont work than PM me...
Will this work for the us (sprint) S3?
Your charger is faulty. Get it replaced or use an alternative. I had the same problem. Using my galaxy ace charger now and everything is fine

Apparently i had the same problem i changed cables chargers but all s3 cables and chargers even i kept blaming the kernels but finally i used by frynds galaxy ace cable and voilà the charging hasnt been better before. My suggestion try a different cable from a low end samsung mobile but original as duplicate wont do u any good.
Sent from my GT-I9300
You may use a kernel like Perseus which offers settings to disable 'unstable power source detection' and 'remove the safety margin' of another 100mA, and use an app like 'galaxy s3 charging current' to monitor the charging rate. cables can make a big difference too, I use my wife's sony cable which offers me 1000ma charge rate compared to the samsung one (little twisted) witch charges at 400 mA.

Clean battery stats calabrate the battery with an app (some people dont beleive in this) and flash a different kernel.I still use yank555 from his new site and its sweet as.Perseus or boeffla are good kernels too though.
Try another Cable when it's charge to long too, then you have to change your batterie
Sent from my LG-P700 using xda app-developers app
I agree not believing in Battery Calibration App ...........Restoring kernel must do it for u
I cant use my phone and charge at the same time it discharges and my battery life is not too good.
Is this because my battery is more than a year old ? If it is I would like to know so I can buy a new battery
If it isnt then I wouldnt like to waste money on buying a new battery
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

BATTERY LIFE.
BETTER BATTERY STATS

Also I use a iPhone wall adapter with a blackberry usb cable I lost my charger maybe thats the reason it doesn't charge properly
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
if the battery drain is alright when the phone is not charging, you should maybe first try to use another charging method! I had exactly the same problem even with original samsung usb cable. I changed it to an older samsung charging cable (galaxy ace) and everything worked perfect again.
Good luck!

New charger definitely! Watch out for the output of the charger, should be in the same range as your original!
Okay its confirmed my charger was too weak im currently charging using a blackberry charger for q5 and its fast as lighting no problem with using the phone and the battery draining when plugged in
So if anyone has the same problem its due to the charger

Hi All,
I have an odd battery problem. My S3 will die and at times when I plug the charger in and the Battery Charging Screen comes up, It shows the battery has more than 50% life. If I unplug the charger and use it, the battery lasts maybe an extra hour but once it reaches about 6% the screen starts flickering and then the mobile network disconnects. I'm sure this is due to low power from the battery.
Any way for me to fix this or to ensure my phone is displaying the correct battery percentage?
See attachment.
Test new battery. If its not charging while you're using it while plugged in then you have a faulty battery. Don't let the power drop so it shuts down. Try and lend a battery from a friend and test it.
I have the same problem with my phone. Is it possible that this problem is caused by the custom roms we are using? What do u think? :/

OK well these battery's don't last forever. First thing I would do is ask a friend to lend one and test it for 24hrs. Or just buy one
