[MOD][XPOSED] Pebble support for Endomondo - Xposed Framework Modules

I really like Endomondo for tracking my workouts, but it doesn't have support for the Pebble smartwatch and it seems they won't add it any time soon so I decided to do it myself and the Xposed Framework is the perfect thing for it!
It hooks into three events on the Endomondo app: workout start, workout stop and workout tracking timer. First one will launch the sports app on the watch, second one closes it and the third one updates the info on the watch every second.
Metric and imperial units both are supported.
Currently there seems to be at least one known issue: it takes a long time for the Pebble app to launch for the first time, second time is instantaneous.
EDIT: this actually seems to be an issue only just after a restart.
Can't post a link so just search for XEndoPebble in the Xposed Framework repo.
EDIT: just released a (hopefully) stable version 1.2.

Repo link here.

This sounds really. Would it be possible to show heart rate too?

I love it! Thanks for the great work!!!

Or in more general terms, would it be possible to make it configurable what to show on watchface, like avg speed and so on.

As far as I know it's not possible to customize the built in Pebble sports app. I would really like to see my heart rate also, but then a separate new watchapp is necessary.
I just realised that the pause/resume functionality is not working when the app itself is not actually running so maybe just remove that and add a functionality to show heart rate instead of speed for 10s when you push the button on your watch?
Btw the project is in Github with the name XEndoPebble (can't post links yet).

OK, thanks for comments. I understand the limitation. Nevertheless, I really appreciate your contribution, Endomondo integration to Pebble is something I've been waiting for a long time.
And probably you already knew this, official Pebble support is on its way (already exists for iOS). As a new user I cannot post links, but should be easy to Google for it.

Yeah, they said they will add it later this year. My module only took about 6 hours without any prior knowledge of Xposed Framework and without access to Endomondo code, so I don't really understand why it takes so long.

Hov about using the golf api? It allows for 5 different numbers on the screen at the same time.

v3rm0n FYI, seems like the latest endomondo update broke the module.

Yeah, it seems that they have time to obfuscate the code, but can't take a few hours to actually add Pebble support
. I may be able to compare the old decompiled code to the new and fix it, but I'm not sure.
EDIT: removed the module, too much work to actually read the obfuscated, decompiled code

Amazon's Alexa on Android Wear

Introduction
I've been working on a project to incorporate Amazon's Alexa into an Android application as a standalone. It started as an Android TV project, and then got ported over to Android mobile. This weekend I finally got the project to work on Android Wear, so now you can speak to (and listen, if you have speakers or connected Bluetooth speakers) Alexa from your wrist. Because I only have access to an LG G Watch, for the moment, I would love to hear any feedback you all have on issues you find or how you think the project can be made better. The more Wear hardware that it's tested with, the better.
Download
You can get the app here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.willblaschko.android.alexalistens or download the APK from the Android TV link above.
More Details
If you want to read a little more about the code behind the implementation, I've done a write up for the TV/phone app here and will be putting together a piece on the Wear app.
Thanks!
Do I need to have an Alexa unit in order for this to work?
Great app, thanks. Ran into a persistent crash issue quickly though. If I uncheck the "Android Wear Preferences"->"Play on mobile" option and try anything from my Huawei watch it shows a message on the phone saying that Alexa Listens has crashed and it does not work. If I leave the option checked it works fine especially where I can hear the voice response on my phone, it was pointless to hear the response from the mobile also which is why I wanted to disable it.
is there a link for a version of this that will install on KitKat? this app looks exciting and I tried downloading earlier apk versions of this app but just get the "error parsing package" pop-up ... really want to try it out but upgrading from android 4.4 on my note 3 probably isn't gonna happen ... this looks awesome thanks
still really excited to try this. i have a Huawei Watch and my phone is Samsung galaxy note 3 on android 4.4 ... my note 3 hasn't exploded yet so I can't risk an upgrade to a newer android version but still really want to try your app!
Wow, this is great. Good work!
oh man this looks like something I really really want ... does anyone know how to alter the apk so I can install this on a Samsung note 3 with android 4.4.2? (modifying build.prop didn't work)
Enjoying the possibilities with this app. I have it on a oneplus 3 with a Huawei Watch. When it works it is great, but quite often from the watch it will not respond. I can then go into settings on the phone app and deactivate the always on listener then reactivate it. After that it works from my watch again for a while... until it doesn't and I have to do the deactivate/reactivate all over again. Any ideas?
works perfect for me, Voice response and all. But i was wondering could u add the option for the mic to auto listen on launch? as oppose to having to click the mic when u want to talk to it, would make it easier to use without all those screen taps
---------- Post added at 08:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:01 AM ----------
also this app literaly breathes NEW LIFE into my huawei watch, this feature alone single handly makes my android watch a must have, " Turn off lights " on the wrist and " request a uber" a is exactly what the google claimed the android watch would be bale to do, but until this app was unable to do
Works well, thanks for this. I did remove it but for some reason it still shows up on the watch even though it is not on the phone. Any idea why?
Hi will,
thanks for the great app, I really love it! I just picked up an Asus Zenwatch 3 and this is a Must-Have
As I'm using it quite often now, I tought I should share my experiences.
The ZW3 comes with two mappable buttons, I put Alexa Listens on one of those, that's really convenient. I'd love if Alexa would listen automatically after starting the App, I think this would be a nicer UX.
Alexa Speech Output has some minor flaws. I did some German Skills, which I used for testing. One replies with SSML - audio and speech afterwards (e.g. on Echo Dot), Alexa Listens only plays the audio (but this could be a flaw in my Skill too).
When Alexa isn't understanding my input, there's no real feedback, it just remains silent (or maybe I'm missing something). Echo Dot usually replies with "I didn't understand that" or similar, that's nicer.
@will.blaschko You aren't open sourcing this, are you? Personally, I'm a huge fan of TuneIn on all devices - I'd love to write the player support for the app, just to get it
Thanks again for the great app!
Working on a new version now, so hopefully that'll be available soon --including support for UK/DE.
If you want to look at the source that powers most of the app: https://github.com/willblaschko/AlexaAndroid
New version is in the Play Store, I can post here as well if you want .

Hello!
(Please Forgive my not so good English!),
I use this awesome Skill/App now for a couple of weeks, and it is exactly what I'm looking for, but I have a little Problem!? - I have a Sony-Smartwatch-3, and after Using the App on it, the App starts/reopens itself again and again!? - I must everytime make a Reboot on the Smartwatch to solve this!
Please take a look at it!
Thanks!
RoseL.
Listener Sensitivity!
Hello!
The App is Awesome, but far to Sensitive!? I have Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S (LTE) with Stock-Android-6.0.1 rooted, and the App reacts all few Seconds!? When I set "Not Sensitive" in the Sensitivity-Options, I can Yell, but the App don't reacts at all, and when I set "Normal", it reacts all the time all few Seconds!? Can You Please add a Possibility to set the voice-sensitivity in percent!? Or a Option between "Not Sensitive" and "Normal"!? I really want to use this App every Day, and I will Donate to, but how it is now, a cannot use it, because it reacts not at all, or every few seconds!?
Thanks!
Problem installing app
Hi I tried to install this app on my Zenwatch 3, however, if I go to the app-store, it says the app is not compatible. What am I doing wrong?

[Dev] What's your App request?

Hi everyone!
Developer of Energy Bar here. I recently got the Amazfit Pace, and am pretty excited to make some cool Apps for the watch.
As of now, two ideas:
Access phone contacts and dial them directly from the watch (hear & talk via the bluetooth earphones connected to the phone.)
A new notification system, which will let you read individual messages (Apps like WhatsApp have some of the notifications bundled.) And also ability to reply from watch (extremely small keyboard though.)
I would like to hear your ideas, please suggest something that may benefit all the watch users in general. I wouldn't be able to fulfil any custom App request as of now.
Your ideas may go as crazy as you would like, I will let you know the extend to which it would be technically feasible. The only thing I want to re-emphasize is that, the idea needs to be something that will benefit all the watch users in general.
Also, I do plan to make majority of Apps' feature free to the community, but to be able to afford enough time to make a lot of Apps which leverages full potential of the watch - I would need support through in-app purchases. I would like to know if you would be interested in subscribing to some of the essential Apps or a pack of Apps?
Hello. I have a new watches. I am missing several functions. Posibility to display level of phone battery on watchface, and indication about unread notification(s). I would also aperciate posibility to bring sport activity to background and paralel usage of other applications. However I am afraid that these functions will be dependent on system services.

Displaying battery level of phone and number of unread notifications sounds good!
But I wonder what's the specific use case of running some other App on the watch while sport activity is running? Could you please elaborate?

I would like to record just my touristic trips. I would like to use the watches normally, during the trip - checking weather for example.... I have used Sony SmartWatch 2 for 3 years - I will have some other ideas for sure later when I will have more experiences with Amazfit...
GoPro control app, ios/android music control app, phone book and dial app with headphones, voice recorder - there is mic built in the watch... and continuum transfunctioner Zoltan!
Being able to reply to Text/Gmail messages is #1 for me. Second - remote control of phone's music app.
Thank you for starting this project, I really appreciate your efforts. This watch has one of the best looking design and a decent hardware. I think file manager and ablity to install apk from the watch and an app to push files from phone to the watch would be beneficial.

In earlier fw version was even worse. During sport activity, literally you couldn't see time on the, well, watch! Then they added it on the top, as well as battery status. Both too small but at least.
I agree with you, watch is missing multitasking. Going to home screen, using it regularly and track activity in the background. However, I doubt that op can do that without source of the fw.

By recording touristic trips do you mean activating one of the sports activity? Like Walk? It is possible to enable such a solution, but how good that solution would be, depends on a more defined use case. I will put this on a lower priority list, will check the feasibility a bit later.

GoPro control app - have to know if a niche among the niche of Amazfit pace users exist, if there is enough demand - will develop.
Music control, dial - Yes, nice ideas.
Voice Recorder - This App apparently works, if it's missing something specific to our watch, let me know.

Apart from checking on time, do you feel that there is a real need for multitasking while the watch is tracking one of your sports activity? Or is it more like, nice to have thing? If the need of multitasking has some great application/use case, I would like to hear about it - as in, what else would you access while actively participating in a sport?

Well, as mentioned before to use other features of the watch, time, date, weather, notifications... Notification, for example, will show up during activity and then disappear. No way to check it again. Music player is also not available during some activities. No way to check steps as well.
Of course it's not deal breaker but other watches have that feature and would be nice to have normal watch skin with activity in the background. Especially during walking, sightseeing... Watch can track up to 35h, after all.

In my opinion, it would be nice to have an app that tells you when your watch loses the connection.
In fact, that was the reason why i bought my first smartwatch, a Sony 2. I was afraid to lose my phone . And it's a pity the actual amazfit doesn't give you this option.
Thanks in advance!!!
I'd say that Huami have purposely restricted background apps in order to maximise battery life.
As far as app requests go: for me it's a podcast app, that's active while running.
My guess is that the easiest way to do this would be that the podcasts would download into the music folder and we could just use the default music player to play them.
Remote camera control, useful for selfies
There are many 5k/10k trainer apps on android/iOS. Is it possible to port one or create some simple to run in background while running activity?
Right now Im using 5k Run-Couch to 5K Walk/Jog interval training. Something similar would be great, no need for some fancy design.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vandersw.fivekrun
In connection with headphones there could be some beep sound on each interval, no need for vibration.
An editor of watchfaces like those that exist for Android wear would be great, since the edition of watchfaces for this watch is complicated, and there's not much editing freedom...

Porting would essentially mean modifying another developer's work without a permission. So, whatever it is, have to be built from scratch.
Running an App simultaneously with the running activity on foreground may not work well, both the Apps would have to keep tracking your distance etc. So, am afraid that won't be a good idea for now.
But I plan to facilitate multitasking, so that may help in one or the other way.

Developing apps for the Amazfit Pace

Hi, i'm thinking about buying one Amazfit Pace and i discovered that it is possible to install some 3rd part apps, my first thought was to try to develop some personal apps that i can use to control some of my smart-thingamabobs that i have at home (Mostly MQTT related), and there's very little information about development of apps to the Pace, i found 2 or 3 useful related threads here.
Before i buy it i have some questions, if you already did it (or attempted to) maybe you can answer me some of them
1) Apparently you have to develop targeting API 21 and MIPS architecture, is that correct?
2) Are there any information about the screen specs?
3) Is the Pace recognized as an ADB device in Android Studio or do i have to compile and manually install the app each time i modify something during development? (Considering i'm using PaceFied ROM)
4) If you have developed some app to your Pace, can you share your source?
Thanks in advance
1. Yes
2. https://support.amazfit.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000661467-Amazfit-Pace-Specs so it's 320x200
3. ADB is working fine with Android studio
4. I only tried to compile the TabataTimer, then I didn't have any time left ( have a live outside of development ).

hope i'm not hijacking the thread, but has anybody found any way to get readings from the sensors, eg the GPS??

Not at all, i'm curious to find this stuff out too.
Can't the GPS reading be done like it's done on a normal phone? Using a LocationListener?
Yes locationlistener is working.

International US Stratos watch

Hi,
I just saw on FB that someone received international version.
https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aqjm7TV980O5qA4Fb-iKDNqi1QYA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=465&v=JZWIftzFDl4
Bought from here https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Eng...161407.html?shortkey=RbuQRZFV&addresstype=600
According to comments it wirks with AmazFit app from play store. So it means it is really and oryginal version.
Interesting, I swapped the CN AmazFit app for the US one (2.0.3 version added Stratos support) and my watch still shows up as Sports Watch 2 while the add watch section lists it as Stratos(+). I didn't try adding it through the QR code (as unpairing does a factory reset, anoying).
I'm curious if there are many differences between the 2.3.0.8 version and the 2.0.10.0 version. I think the China only apps will be missing (they are also not listed in the US app) but other than that I'm not sure.
The app also says there are no updates so I think it supports both A1619 and A1609 as different devices.

The Chinese Firmware (or any based on it) will only pair with the Chinese App, however once paired it will remain paired when you switch to the English one.
Sounds good. But still there is no workout sports mode which is essential for a sports watch. Is here no huami developer? If you read this, can you add this sports mode. Just HR and time, calories burned. Quite simple.

What do you mean by that? Do you want a watchface that displays this info? Most watchfaces display this info in some way. And some of the customizable ones let you choose which widget to display on the watchface.
Yes, this info is already there. But you cannot record it as an activity.
Furthermore, I don't understand the following. Regarding Firstbeat the watch has Personalized Training Plans: Cardio. Not the running or cycling training plans. But it is not possible to record a cardio/gym training?

Hi
I'm thinking to buy the amazfit 2 strato,
What kind of for frimware runnig on the starto?
Androidware or some kind of huawei?
There an option to install google play store on that watch?
Best Regards
@nirlagzi
Android yes but not wear.
It runs a custom Huami launcher l, bit you can install APKs and some modified wear apps. You can find some examples around here.
Google play is currently not something I would hold my breath for, if this is something you really need then you might want to look at the tickwatch 2 as an alternative.
I just received the international version today, actually not enough time to play with it I will test it over the weekend, everything is in English including the manual and the app.

It runs a custom Huami launcher l, bit you can install APKs and some modified wear apps. You can find some examples around here.
Google play is currently not something I would hold my breath for, if this is something you really need then you might want to look at the tickwatch 2 as an alternative.

Hello,
Thank you very much,
Im looking for a watch with "regular" watch look, like the lg w200, or amazfit 2, preferd android ware, do you have any suggesttion What watch to buy?
@SteffenBerlin
there is a good reason for not providing a gym workout.
99% of the time the people will use the inbuild HR monitor that will not really work with exercises that flex the hands.
So people will complain about it ( they do already when they use for ex indoor cycling as activity for gym workout ).
No, that's why one can pair a chest strap heart rare monitor with the watch.

I'm curious if there are many differences between the 2.3.0.8 version and the 2.0.10.0 version. I think the China only apps will be missing (they are also not listed in the US app) but other than that

Besides of the "bug correction", the main differences are the China apps, and the added sports that the chinese version has: Ski, and Soccer and Tennis (for version 2.0.11)

Sounds good. But still there is no workout sports mode which is essential for a sports watch. Is here no huami developer? If you read this, can you add this sports mode. Just HR and time, calories burned. Quite simple.

You have this mode. Just use treadmill, and that's it. You have Time, Elapsed time, HR and calories burned.

@SteffenBerlin:
If people would be sensible, yes.
But people are stupid and they will complain, as they are doing now as well.

have you paired a chest strap with the Stratos?
No, I did not try to pair a chest strap. But it is on the feature list.
Using the treadmill mode could lead to sideeffects. Treadmill counts steps as well. It can be mis-calibrated, if used for boot camp training without steps. Also Treadmill is probably considered in the VO2max calculation. That's why all sport watches have a other oder cardio mode even it is a trivial one and not considered in advanced training metrics.
Hello all,
On FB I just noticed that someone has uploaded US FImware.
Here you go:

I do not have watch yet so I am unable to test

Yes, that's me.
I will probably post it here tomorrow with more info and stuff.
NOTE THAT YOU WILL NEED UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER AND ADB/FASTBOOT DRIVERS.

Sorry, I didn't meant treadmill (I had a translation error), I was thinking about elliptical trainer. Taht does not have steps, or anything similar. Also indoor cycling is the same. As far as I know, the metrics shown and results are equal. I think they are only different in order that the user can see it listed with different icon/type.

Thank you! I was waiting for that! At the moment, though, I think that I will stay a bit with the chinese version, because I want to test the ski and tennis modes, which are not present in the chinese version. As soon as they are included in the International version, I'll change it!

Anyone helping building a new companion app to send data to the Stratos/Pace Watch?

Hi there,
i'm trying to build a companion app similar to watchdroid with wich i can send data to the watch and display them on a widget/springboard.
In my case i wan't to have my blood glucose level on my watch as i was used to with my android wear watch.
I have a simply app made with taske wich can read out a json from my nightscout site. This sadly work only via wifi.
Main problem is the bluetooth comunication. i've tried so many simply bluetooth apps and librarys via sideload. I can't even tell how many. Non of them worked out. Only some worked in watch to phone direction but not the other - desired - way. In almost every case, my phone could'nt even find the watch.
But since watch droid got it working, i know there is a way.
There is another way to get data to the watch: the notification system. Since i also could'nt get the notification listener to work on the watch, it is also not a starting point for me.
Last chance i see is automizing watchdroid and sending a file at a regulary scedule and reading this from the widget.
For the moment i just use Notify and fitness cause the Phone notification with my glucose level is persistent and the huami app ignores persistent notifications.
But get a new notification with my glucose level every 5 Minutes. On the phone the notification gets just updated, on the watch i get a new one. Over the day the notification stack gets fuller and fuller...
I'm not talking about geting this into a watchface, thats the next step after the next hundreds of steps.
Any help and tipps are welcome.
When a notification is dismissed on the phone, it should dismiss on the watch.
If you have the source to this app, you could make it dismiss it's notification and send a new one.

Yes, it's freestyle libre with ambrosia blucon nightrider for nfc readout and transmission every 5 min. The app i use is xdrip+.
The notification is persistent to keep the data collector service running, to show the value on the notificatiin icon even on the aod of samsungs.

ah yes anyway, the price of "ambrosia blucon nightrider" as we say at home "it stings the eyes". before you give me the answer I was wondering how you did to get back the FreeStyle scan, so I understand. on the other hand to use the nightscout, it is a little the course of the fighter ... a lot of account to create. damage that the app glimp or other does not regroup suddenly!
It's currently my intention to build a framework for both phone and watch to allow apps to get data from the internet at some point in the next few months. I'm stuck with work to do at the moment so don't have any time to put towards projects (especially not big ones like that) but in the future - probably
I'd ideally also like to get Android Wear (not Wear OS, it's an old version) working too, to allow at least some companion apps to function (Sleep as Android, Keep etc.). I've got the framework working fine (which does improve app compatibility, but no communication still severely limits what they can do), but the two way Bluetooth connection throws an error that I cannot find any documentation about, so it's on hold for now until I have sufficient time to investigate properly
This would be awesome to have a framework like this. In my case i would'nt even need real internet access, due to the web service is localy provided by the xdrip app. But this would open so many things and possible options to code. Let me know if i could help. I'm also short in time but willing to help.
Getting Android wear working on the pace/stratos would also be great. I tried out sideloading the micro apk for wear of xdrip+ and it worked out better than expected. No crashes from the app and even the integrated watchfaces were selectable. Of course there were no data shown and no low power watchface.

It might actually be possible to build a newer version of Android, source code exists for the CPU and MIPS sources exist all the way up to Oreo, but again that would take time I don't have (and space for that matter)
Just wanted to let you know, that thanks to edotassi i have a working widget with my blood glucose values on my Stratos.
https://github.com/edotassi/AmazMod
https://github.com/edotassi/AmazModService
Now i'm fine tuning the widget and maybe also the nightscout parts of amazmod. But i'm still learning.

Hi, great news. Will this work on Amazfit BIP ?
Since the Bip does not rely on the AmazFit Watch app, i'd say no.
Can you show on the photo the indications of the xdrip on the watch? how it works.
Hi, i'm now trying to integrate quinnys library into xDrip, to make thinks easy and to allow 2 way communication.
Since xDrip is a really big and complex project + i'm a noop i'm having trouble with providing a switch in the menus and finding the right place to start the service from. Maybe someone can help me out again.
I am also really interest of amazfit bit. I saw now, xdrip have one section called "amazfit synk service" look like can connect with this kind of phones. Are there news to see the value on the display?

None of this will work with the Bip, it's too limited
Is there any way to implement the clockscreen or widget from Glimp instead of XDrip on the Stratosphere. I'm getting better use from Glimp and MiaoMiao.
