Sprint is rolling out a new network Nationwide. How's it going in your area? We all have Spark devices. Who's getting to make the most of them? Who's left out? What PRL are you on?
Got any tips to improve RF performance?

I am in Florida and will post some tests tomorrow. I love in a spotty area but work in some strong speeds. I did download a movie the other day and had 1.2GB in about 10min.
I'm in Denver with NV tower upgrades around the metro area like 99% complete, but waiting on fiber backhaul to it sounds like over 50% of them. I can say this phone is a pretty good RF performer overall. The network just hasn't caught up with it here. My 3G is just blazing fast compared to the 2 years I spent on the S3. The new network is amazing. Just coming along amazingly slow for a lot of us.

Sadly true, although I have very few complaints about LTE here.
That said, do we have any idea, approximate or otherwise, when Spark is coming to various locations?

Which part of atlanta are you in? There are lots of band 41 sites in atlanta, not quite as prevalent as band 26 sites but there are several.
Tampa/St Pete Florida area has a lot of Spark coverage. Getting Spark in places I wouldn't get LTE with my EVO.. although I think we were one of the first markets they started upgrading. Haven't really done any speed tests but when its on Spark it feels like WIFI.
Addison, Texas +70 Mbps down. I have no idea how to verify bands in use though.
I will say this phone rock though. I came from its granddaddy the Optimus G which was awesome when it came out, but gets smoked by the G3
Hello all. I'm in Austin TX. Spark has radically changed my experience with Sprint. I was an unsatisfied customer because for the most part, on my previous Galaxy Nexus, I would hardly ever get reliable LTE. No LTE at home, not even 1 bar. Same at work, no part of the building, nada. No LTE.
Fast forward to me on my LG G3, now it seems I have LTE with Spark in most places and at reliable speeds (~15mbps down) This also includes my home and work! Where before as I mentioned, I had no LTE at all! I am very happy with my LG G3, even more with Spark.
I have attached a screenshot of a Speedtest I just took sitting on my chair, the same chair I've sat with my Galaxy Nexus in the past and never got a single bar of LTE. The speed may not break any records, but do note the stability and ping of the connection throughout the test. It is exemplary in my experience as a Sprint customer.
I'm on PRL 55019 and band 26 here at home.

My last speed test showed ~11 down and 6 up. Better than the old LTE, but nowhere near what I was expecting. I'm assuming that it's in early stages out here.

No band 26 is 800mhz the spectrum from Nextel and will never be as fast as band 41 which is 2500mhz.
But band 26 will travel lots further from the tower vs band 41 and 25

Thanks for the info, but will it roll out like 4g? Very slow time wise...couple years, limited area coverage? Guess we will have to wait till October 7. Sometimes I hate sprint.
He got it wrong that guy all 4g phone support evdo rev b and evo 3d and epic touch support evdo 3d and do advance nextwork and speeds of evdo rev b is 9 mps down and 5 mps up unless sprint caps the speeds only and do advance hits 14 mps down and 5 mps up

hmm, weird, it coincides with the expected release of the iphone 5.
my guess: iPhone 5 on sprint will be 3.5g (rev b) rather than 4g. I have my doubts that apple will create a LTE and a wimax 4g phone, especially since the rumors are pointing to one iphone model, that works all over the world.
In terms of what this means to me, awesome! I hope itll actually work though, my current speeds are well below 3g or even 2g.
Interesting, but all still just rumor that may well have started just in forums. Not saying it's not true, but taking it with a grain of salt until something more official comes around.
That said, what the last poster brought up about the iphone possibly having Rev B support makes sense. It would put Sprint more in line with 4G from other carriers (and beating their 3G), and assuming the iphone doesn't come with LTE, a leg up even.

Does anyone know if AT&T still plans on enabling 64QAM on their HSPA+ network(if they haven't already)? Or have they decided to ditch evolved HSPA+ in favor of LTE? I love my Galaxy s2, but sucks I can't take advantage of the HSPA+ 21mbps radio, especially considering there will not be LTE here in Detroit anytime soon.

They are still using 16QAM which effectively limits your speeds at 14.4mbps in theory. The latest I've heard is they will not be upgrading to 64QAM and they expect their users to fall back to 14.4mbps capable HSPA+
Totally sucks that T-Mobile users have been rocking 64QAM since last year.
Im nearing that 14.4 limit

I agree. I think his post was being sarcastic.
Upload is always way slower than download speeds.
Wish I got those speeds.
Verizon is going to have 4G in my area by the end of the summer. Looking at another two years before Sprint 4G comes to my area.
So the the ultimate question is, how much do I like unlimited data?
One thing I know is, if Sprint pulls unlimited data after it acquires a network I am going to be more than upset. If I sit here for the next couple of years getting 50-300kbps average, while I could be getting 10 times that on big red, only to see Sprint say, "Okay, we have a network comparable to the other carriers, here's tiered data..." Somehow, I think that's there plan.

I'm in Raleigh, NC supposedly one of the first for network vision upgrades. They must have finished Orange County, CA as we were next. Nothing at my house yet (still terrible speeds) but hanging out this morning near NCSU near down town, where 3G and 4G were terribly slow.... BLAZING now.
3G: 1.5mbps down/800kbps up
4G 10.7mbps down/2300kbps up
Holy smokes.... That's LTE speeds. And they said WiMAX would never get above 4. I ran the test 3 times. I thought I was on WiFi...
That's with full 6/6 bars 3G and 2/3 bars 4G
So those of you sick of the speeds..... Hang in there. I'm still blown away.
Just this morning in another part of the "metropolis" (Cary, NC) 3G and 4G were so slow they wouldn't even stream Pandora. Crazy.

Glad to see another Cary/Raleigh native on here! I live in Cary and have all but given up on 3g. I use my phone with wifi at home and can't even connect to 4G there. 3G speeds won't let me do anything.
I work in the BB&T building in downtown Raleigh and just tried a 3G speedtest. It errored out with Network communication issues. The 4G was pretty decent though - 4.8down and 1up.
Back when I switch to Sprint 2 years ago (Epic 4G), Wimax used to almost always give me about 5down and 1+ up. It's slowed down a lot since then. I am seriously thinking about switching to T-Mobile after my contract expires. I love unlimited data but if I can't connect to it then it does me no good.

Raleigh Folk Here too!!
RDU is definitely not one of the first markets to get network vision, lol. We are in the second round of deployments, after the first round markets. They should begin network vision work next month here. Wimax is separate from NV so not sure why that speed has increased. But yea, I live in Cary and the speeds have dropped so slow lately that I have not been able to stream Pandora for the past two weeks. Really pisses me off because I'm a delivery driver and that's all I would listen to in the car lol.

I wasn't specific enough. I meant that people seem to be having trouble streaming over 3g recently no matter what part of the country they are in. Unless the entire network is laying an egg (entirely possible since we are talking about Sprint), it seems more than network related. Plus, people have mentioned that they have been able to stream other music apps, just not Pandora.
I would guess it's due to people leaving sprint 4 other carriers

Wait, 4g is supposed to not go over 4 megs?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
I think most of you guys keep forgetting 4g isn't controlled by Sprint, it's Clear, there are many other things on the 4g network, but idk what you guys need these speeds for anyway, 1-3megs will do everything just fine in terms of mobile internet, need something faster use wifi, don't complain about the 3g and 4g service, just be glad you have internet period

Crazy.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? LTE speeds are 50+M down and 12+m up!
Visalia CA I've literally seen 2.2mbps on 3G. Also 8-12mbps 4G

I think people are complaining because Sprint consistently ranks at the bottom in all major markets in 3g and 4g speeds by a huge margin. It's not even close. But they are cheaper and have unlimited data, so it's not all bad. But 3g speeds should not be barely faster than dial-up!

I'm in Las Vegas we had 4g early on. Won't be getting LTE for quite awhile but the 3g is decent enough to watch shows or whatever usually where i'm at. I never get dropped calls. Actually had them for 10 years now, Houston, Reno and Vegas never dropped calls.
I get a work discount so my bill is $69.95 total each month. My contract was up Feb 1 so i bought an evo off craigslist and activated without a 2 year contract. I looked at verizons prices, i think over $100 for a comparable plan.
Not perfect but i'm sticking with em.
Not bad I might add, for how far they've come on a complete network overhaul in less than a year...

Sprints has been doing some upgrades in North East Wisconsin. Almost everywhere I go I get ehrpd. That's one step closer to lte. The speeds have improved too.

I came from the AT&T side of straight talk (And DON'T listen to people, ST is not the same as having the actual carrier AT ALL.) It was the worst carrier I've ever had, and I had AT&T before with no complaints. I switched to Sprint on a discounted plan, got the EVO LTE, and I don't have a single complaint. I drive to/from work streaming radio and it doesn't miss a beat. If the network is congested I just switch from eHRPD to CDMA only and that usually fixes the issues. Sprint is totally worth it haha
Lucky you.
I am still waiting for the speed test to complete, which I started 5 minutes ago.
Edit: 790ms ping, 117kbps down, 109kbps up. I feel like luckiest kid alive (in 90's. Who just got ISDN)
Bump

I never got Wimax and never expected to get LTE, but I I preordered the Evo LTE and then signed another 2 year contract anyway. Sprint 3G speeds fell on their face in my area, but that was right before I got to see the 4G icon in my status bar! I now constantly have LTE in my area and the entire surrounding area! Couldn't be happier with Sprint! Pulling great speed tests on LTE while sitting on my bed!! Hit 36mbps in my carport while I stepped outside for a cigarette!! When I go to a store, in either nearby cities, I never lose LTE!! Great speeds everywhere, but even faster speeds at my house out in the sticks than I get in the city! Obviously more users in the city than at/near my house. Nothing to complain about though in my area!! Congrats to everyone who is getting LTE soon, and good luck to those still waiting.
Oh, FYI: My 3G speeds fell on their face before LTE lit up here. So to anyone who's seeing a recent decline in 3G speeds, maybe that's a good thing for you and LTE is coming very soon! Along with 4G LTE here, my 3G speeds are now about 2-4 times faster!!
EDIT: If you're looking at the map above, I'm about right in the middle of the big purple blob in Georgia
In looking closer at the map now. Other than Illinois, Georgia's coverage area is about the largest of any single spot that I'm seeing, viewing the linked map anyways!! Awesome!! Gotta love the Dirty South hahaha

I found some driving to work to Carlsbad the other day. Wasn't too bad either.
And this was doing 70 on the 5 North. Right past Encinitas.

Nice!! Just under 30mbps download is pretty freaking quick!! Around 10mbps upload is where I usually hover as well.

Yeah I'm from Vegas to and my 3g speeds are not that great. I can't even update apps thru the play store 75% of the time now. They just time out and give me an error.
Keep a look out for tmobile and AT&T/Verizon powerhouse

Could be still working on those LTE towers. That's about the speed I get in NY at few spots LTE is available in. T-Mobile Note II squeezes out almost 3x that speed on 3G. My record today was 17mpbs on 3G (well, T-Mobile calls it 4G, but it's not)
Don't worry....be happy...

I visited Vegas in December was surprised they did not have LTE. I had Layovers in DC (no LTE, got some coming in but not at the actual airport) and Chicago (half-working LTE). I would think Sprint would target major cities first but I was very disappointed, even the 3G was spotty in Vegas. Maybe one day our big little VA town will get LTE/4G. One day.

I completely agree!! I am not sure of Sprint's reasoning for lighting up LTE in less populated areas before big cities. Maybe it's for cost effectiveness, maybe it just fits their future plan for full coverage and this fits their build-out better, no clue. I can't complain though, having fast LTE at home in the sticks is awesome! Lol
