My recently purchased mobile phone is the THL T200, must of you may or may not have heard of it by now. I'm trying to get a proven procedure to safely update (upgrade) the actual O.S. installed in the phone (4.2.2) to the final >unifying version for android from Google< 4.4...
The manufacturer site thlmobilestore.com at their thlsupport site has not yet announced how to get it. I can only assume that Google is currently too busy trying to make it work with the big firms (Samsung, HTC, and LG) first before allowing Chinese companies to grab a piece of the cake.
I know for previous experiences that the first web site publishing software procedures and mobile settings is this one, so I decided to be the first asking for (prove-to-work) and detailed step-by-step ways to update the OS.
Please... any comment not-related to this specific phone or update procedures to 4.4 kit-kat try to post it on any other thread? I'm sure the moderators will agree with me irrelevant comments and interfering assumptions won't help.
Thanks and expecting to hear from one of you soon :cyclops:

I have an DELL XCD28 GSM with Android 2.1, i really wanted to know how to Upgrade to Android 2.2.
Dell does not going to release an Upgrade to 2.2 in future.
So what are the ways i can install Android 2.2 on my Device?
Thanks
I have also purchased dell xcd28. As it was the only android phone in my budget. Please let me know how to install froyo or gingerbread on my device. Dell is not providing any official updates for the device.
Please reply to this post as early as possible.
Hello,
I am aware that DELL is not going to provide any upgrade even for XCD35 they are not going to release anything, thats sad :-(
But XCD25 is actually ZTE Racer 2G model with extra facility of 3G added for DELL model. I searched for some ROM upgrade but only one ROM i found that too was for the chinese model of ZTE without EDGE support only 3G was working.
I finally decided instead of looking around and wasting time. i am gonna create my own ROM for my device. I am a developer and i can create my own custom ROM. So i just started the work and hopefully in a few weeks i may finish the ROM.
I will let you know about the ROM soon
Meanwhile get your device rooted and add some cool features to the 2.1 version. You can find many apps and utilities which you can add using rooted phone.
BUT DO THIS ONLY IF YOU ARE TECHNICALLY GOOD AT OWN TROUBLESHOOTING!
ALSO BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL ROM(with rooted device) BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY CHANGES!
So good luck!
I would like to know how to root my phone and I am also looking for a free tethering tool through which I can connect to internet on my pc. I am a Windows Client Administrator and just know a bit about android development.
Rooting for android device is easy but its a bit technical
follow these steps below:-
1.download z4root from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
2.After rooting your device DONT FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR ROM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY CHANGES!
3. For backup using NANDROID!
I have fully tested the above steps and its working 100%
Good Luck!

Just Opened my Eye
Hello Everyone,
I just saw a video about Android Security from Kasperksy Lab in YouTube
But, After seeing this video about Android Security from Kaspersky Lab I realised how dangerous rooting and loading custom rom maybe, I personally had this question with me as i was developing the ROM as it completely pulls the security out of your device.
Android Malware attacks are in the news now. So its better being safe then sorry
So I have decided not to release the Custom ROM to public and also i am stopping the Development of the ROM.
Also i am not saying that you should not root your device and do other cool stuff with it. Its solely up to you. Finally its your Android Device!
Good Luck!

Hello,
I would like to buy the cheapest tablet I can find. I found an eBay insertion featuring a Chinese tablet running Android 2.1.
While I wait for the seller to provide me (if known) some information about brand and model name to find more information about this device, I would like to ask a couple of questions that might sound stupid a little for you experts, but as I don't know much about the Android OS I'm still going to ask (if this was WinMo, I already knew the answer was NO)
1. Is it possible to upgrade Android to a newer version, ie. Gingerbread or even Honeycomb, on any device that supports it? Like, some kind of software upgrade tool? Or, how could somebody make an upgraded ROM without spending months in reasearching, experimenting and breaking?
2. Is it possible at least to root devices like the one I mentioned?
Thank you
Dear all,
Has anybody so far successfully installed an Android Rom on the Meizu MX3?
Any hint would be mostly appreciated!
I could not find anything via Google or forum search...
Cheers
Julian
I realize this is reviving an old-ish thread, but I too am interested in any info regarding the above.
Due to high pricing, the MX3 is a possible option for me soon.
Hey iSilence,
I have not made any progress so far on the issue. However, I managed to install the Google Playstore and thereby got most of the relevant software related functions I need on the MEIZU.
Would still prefer a nice Android on that machine.
Cheers

From what I've found out till now, the issue with Meizu is that the bootloader is locked.
The furthest people have gotten was to install MIUI on the MX2, and there are a few fixes/mods for the MX3.
MIUI may be possible on the MX3, the device is still pretty fresh so there's hope.
I don't know about stock Android though. One can hope.
Just curious is there a Android 4.4.4 update available now for Galaxy S5, S4, Note 3. Read an article on it. If so can we get more info on it..

What was the article you read on this? The Sprint variety of the Note 3 got the NH7 (4.4.4) update about a month ago.
If you're looking for another update to the NH7, I haven't heard of any.
If you're looking to update to NH7, you can either do the OTA method (or use KIES, if that floats your boat), or you can head over to this thread and use ODIN to flash it onto your device. Be sure to follow the directions very carefully, as a number of people have done "half complete" flashes of the update. The typical culprit in this is using the Mobile ODIN version (which can't flash the updated bootloader) or by not completely powering off the phone before entering Download Mode (going into download mode from the extended "power off" menu doesn't always work correctly with this update).
Hope this helps!

Looking into the Christianity Today article (Dated Oct. 29th), it appears that they got their information from this Android Origin article (Dated Oct. 24th). While I don't know how trustworthy AndroidOrigin is as a news source (from the looks of it and from the few articles that I've read through on there), as there appears to be a lot of speculation in their articles. It also appears that they are working on outdated information, as the article writer doesn't seem to know about the Sprint NH7 update.
I would chalk it up to just poor investigative reporting on both the part of CT and AO. Sprint Note 3s are currently on the 4.4.4 NH7 update and probably won't receive any content/usability updates until 5.0 lollipop drops, save for security updates.

I'm honestly surprised that CT did such a poor job on their article... It seems like they mostly just summarized other articles, but left out some key parts and didn't link their sources. The Latin Post article(dated Oct. 24) that CT mentions talks about the lengthy process that applying TW is to stock Android and they emphasize the lengthy process that carrier integration is (although, the article that LP references is dated March 2013, so whether or not those timeframes are still applicable can be called into question).
This is my main gripe with online "news" publications... Unless they cite their resources in a very clear manner, you have no idea where they get their information from. Not only that, but they don't want to, because then astute readers would see that their just paraphrasing (often incorrectly) the original articles. The CT article didn't give a single link to the LP or AO articles. I had to do some google-fu to find them. It also appears that the writer didn't even do a simple Google Search for "Note 3 Android 4.4.4," they would've been pointed to this article, which clearly states that Sprint got the update out in mid-September. Now, there are carriers (and international Note 3s) that are just recently getting 4.4.4, but CT fails to mention this.
Sorry for my rant about online news sites, I just have been thinking about how sensational headlines trump any actual investigation. And not to mention that there's little-to-no accountability. Very few sites post retractions, and if they do, they're drowned out by the other 50 sites (that don't offer retractions) that copied the original post. I don't know what the best system of online news is, but it's definitely not what we currently have.
Hello all! I've got myself a dandy Galaxy 9 plus from America that cannot be rooted (sm-g965U), I'm told it is impossible to root this phone. I am also told something referred to as a bootstrap cannot be loaded except the 'stock' one that loaded the last cycle. So, my question to the experts is what, short of a new phone (currently researching older models), is needed to achieve either/or 1. Custom ROM? 2. Rollback Android? I would like certain features unavailable in 9 and 10 to be restored. And, I am told this is not possible as long as 9/10 are running the show.
Lastly, my apologies, I wanted to get some expert advice from this site. I suspect that much like in the name Boy Scouts, you know you should probably be a boy, I suspect I should also be a developer to be here. I'm not. (in case you were on the fence (wondering)). Cheers! Weeee!
