Coming to note 3 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Ok guys so I broke my screen called insurance they don't have another note2 so after b itching for a min they are finally sending me a note 3.
I have three questions
Is philz or twrp better for these devices
Is there an all in one tool kit for these phones
Is root install the same for these as note2
Install recovery via Odin and reboot

Congratulations! If I were you, I'd use TowelRoot to root your phone for now and run the stock rom (try it out for a while)
That's what I'm doing, freezing various bloatware and have been very pleased with stock rom (for now) another reason I did this was because I didn't want to trip Knox... maybe later

Clockwork mod instead of Odin

So I use Odin and the snapdragon tool kit to root my phone. I have the stock rooted Rom that came with the toolkit. Right now I have to use the snapdragon toolkit to install Roms but want to be able to use clockworkmod cuz I don't always have my computer with me. So is there anyway to do that? And also what is the best ROM for the sg3

Go to the following link. just download CF kernel latest version. install it using ODIN. that's it you are done now you will be able to use CLOCKWORKMOD.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238
There are 2 ways to access CWM
1. press VOL UP+HOME+POWER, keep it pressed till samsung logo appears, than let it go.
2. in your app drawer there will be an app CWM, open it than tap on recovery mode and it will boot in CWM.

One question and that is important..if you have a GT-I9300 international version which has Exynos chipset why are you using Snapdragon Toolkit?
and if you have any other version of S3..why are you posting it here?

You will find all you want for your Sprint S3 here
So there is no sprint sg3 help on here

MOPRAL posted a Sprint link right above you^^^^
Sprint has its own forum for the sgs3 varient.......thats where you will get help from.
we can help you, but all the files/tools/roms/and Mods are of pretty much no use to you. so it makes sense to get info from people who have the same device.
Thanks found it sorry about wrong posting

OTA root retention ideas/tests

So far we have voodoo root keeper and supersu pro survival mode. If you try either please post your results.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda premium
This work for the AT&T it might work of you guy as will. You need someone to test it. You need to be on a stock rooted and no custom recovery.
You might whan to try this on MD2 stock rooted.
joeybear23 said:
I was able to update my I337 to the 7/9 release of MF3 and retain root.
1. Install VooDoo OTA Root Keeper, make sure all boxes are checked (may have to reinstall superuser and grant to the app)
2. Reboot, double check VooDoo OTA Root Keeper again has all checked boxes, then tell it to save root
3. Defrost/Enable AT&T Software Update, download it and apply
4. Reboot, Use VooDoo OTA Root Keeper to restore root
5. Profit
props to @gokartracer5 for being the first to find this

I suppose that would be some actual profit. There were some users stating that this method would work for our phone in other threads but most of us don't want to risk it or be without a custom recovery in the first place. But something like this, for me, will be given a shot later on today when my AT&T S4 arrives

For the fun of it I tried VooDoo and SuperSU Pro's feature and TWRP installed but of course it didn't install the update so I'll have to wait until I get home to put the stock recovery back on and try again. Poo.
I'm sure folks have already thought of this but check out the other Galaxy S4 forums like the Sprint one. Maybe certain items are common in the updates and can be flashed on our VZW device.

Maybe factory reset, reinstall voodoo root keeper and try again???? Update should have worked based on the steps you took. I've never heard of an ota not installing because of root.

Use the galaxy s3 toolkit best way for root I think just read it carefully and use the right variant model and update eg 4.1.2 and not earlier very simple
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
I found the easiest was was to use cf auto root through Odin on windows laptop and then install a recovery using ROM manager from the play store.. And then away ya go! Don't forget to back up before ya change anything

Rom manager is not such a good idea with the S3. Safer to use mobile odin and Flash a recovery that way.

I didn't realise it wasn't a good idea to use ROM manager with the s3.. Why is that then? I went that way because my laptop is a Macbook and hiemdall didn't seem to work well so I had a quick ten mins on a laptop at work with Odin to root and then I only had my Macbook to use so ROM manager is the way I went too manager seems to be the same thing as well

From experience I can say that using ROM Manager can soft brick your device. I once wanted to use it with my old S2 to install CWM and I got into a bootloop afterwards. Only re-flashing a Samsung ROM via Odin helped to boot into Android.
One of the easiest way (in my opinion) to root your device is to flash a Kernel via Odin that will give you Root. The Siyah Kernel is a good place to start, since the developer also provides tar files for odin to flash. It will give you Root and from then on you can install Stweaks and flash CWM from there.
I wish i d of spoke to u a few months ago when I first rooted cause I buggered about with it for weeks! I didn't realise you could install recovery from steaks either.. Have you got much apple Mac/android sync experience?.. I can only describe it as trying to get arch rivals to mate!.. Might just dual boot windows on the Macbook if I can't get them to play nice

I don't mess with cf. Never have, it's too much work when compared to just using odin to install twrp and then flash supersu. Google twrp, get the latest one for our decide, then Google supersu-update.zip and install that with twrp.
This will break your knox warranty btw.

Custom Recovery for Galaxy Amp Prime? (J320az)

I have a rooted j320az through cricket. I was able to obtain root using wondershare for pc. What would it take to get twrp ported over? The guy who came up with how to root was looking into it and kinda disappeared. I will be happy to make a nice donation for twrp and also for anyone who could port over a custom rom.
Also this may be a dumb question but i was curious if i could use the twrp for j320p or maybe even the galaxy grand prime?
I think we could use 1 of those recoveries, it just has to be 5 inch 720p panel like our amp primes.

According to this.........http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f898/sm-j320az-2112564/
We already have a working Recovery. TWRP. Look towards the bottom. The top says sm-j320az which is our amp prime, towards the bottom there's a file TWRP tar. I downloaded it, someone posted and says it's working. What u think? I don't want to mess up my phone. It's all I got right now.
