4g on galaxy s3 I9300. Is it possible? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm testing S5 SENSATION ROM on my I9300 GS3 and to my surprise when I choose the mobile data option, the 4G is being displayed.
It's a bug s5 sensation rom or is it really possible in the 4G Galaxy S3 I9300?

It is a bug. 4g is only available the I9305

I think it isn't bug. S5 sensation display 4g when your connection is fast but your connection still 3g

Specific Galaxy S3 models rolled out with 4G support (i.e. the I9305), so I don't think that the I9300 can support 4G, because you need obviously some kind of a special chip to use it. It's an hardware issue, not software as it can't be supported via any kind of app I think.

It depends what you want.... If you want 4G network then go for Epic 4G but it will bind you in a contract with Sprint. And if you can live with 3G speeds then go for Galaxy S2 as it already has the ICS update rolling out. Epic 4G wud take some time more for the update. Also there is no FM Radio in Epic 4G(but there are many live streaming apps on Play Store.)
The Final decision depends on you if you want quick ICS or 4G speeds
EDIT: In person I would recommend Samsung Galaxy S2 bcoz Epic 4G in the same phone but with CDMA network. Although CDMA network has better signal capacities, it's not got very good coverage everywhere so your roaming may suffer.

Both wrong .
Galaxy 551 -> Galaxy 5 -> Galaxy Ace -> Galaxy Ace Plus -> Galaxy S -> Galaxy Ace 2 -> Galaxy R -> Galaxy W -> Galaxy SII -> Galaxy Note -> Galaxy Tab 7.0+ -> Galaxy Tab 7.7 -> Galaxy Tab 8.something -> Galaxy Tab 9.7 -> Galaxy Tab 10.1
Herpderp Defy.
In my experience I'm usin the ace in Iusacell Network from Mexico and it provides 4g networking but... the same that you read before.. the CDMA has excellent speeds of networking but with the phone signal allways are troubles of coberture and roaming, in question of services thats the reason that I've left behind my motoroi CDMA and buy the Ace, I'n now in 3g Network, the speed is not the most but in signal I've never loosed a call.
My opinion, take the SGS II believe me, the CDMA will give you some minor troubles with phone services.
But... is your Choice!
SGS2. Based on experience.

Its got maximum 16GB Storage(No memory CArd), 1Gig of RAM and 1.2 Ghz Processor. But I would still reccomend going for SGSII bcoz even though bieng of tthe same frequency, Samsung's own Exynos processor is more capable than the chipset in Galaxy Nexus. And the Nexus has got a poor battery Backup.
EDIT: the GPU used in Galaxy NExus has used in the ORginal Galaxy S. So it lacks behind there too. Go for SGS2.

[Q] How difficult would be to create a stock T-mobile style rom?

Hi, I just ordered my Galaxy note and gave my galaxy s2 t989 away, is there any way I can port some of the apps and features from my galaxy s2, like the wifi calling, NFC, bobsled and the mobile network selection menu for example, just like a stock T-Mobile Galaxy S2 rom. I believe both of the phones have almost the same internals. Just asking; i'm not too familiar with this but at least I have programmer skills. Thanks in Advance
Your best bet is master&slave. (a t-mobile s2 developer) ask.him, hopefully he gets his note tomorrow.

No, it wont work with Tmobiles HSPA, I think Tmo is changing their HSPA to 1900 next year so that would of been a different story, but for the moment its just not worth it.
Thank you very much....that's very disappointing....

[Q] will Galaxy S3 have 4g connection capabilities on THREE UK?

No it won't. The current S3 does not have the hardware required for 4G. A new version that does support 4G will be released soon.
If you have the gt-i9300 which you probably do......you are out of sheer luck like us all !!!!! Grrrrr......
Three UK wont have any 4G infrastructure for a while anyway.
