[Q] HTC One M8 Telus Updating Custom ROMs - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, guys! I'm not really sure if my phone name and carrier is really significant but I digress
I'm just wondering, I'm currently using a GPE ROM for my Htc, which I acquired from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706442
This ROM gives me android 4.4.2 and it says that I need to update to 4.4.3. I know that OTA is not included with this custom ROM so I found another link which gives me the link to the update the custom ROM (4.4.3): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706441
I tried updating to 4.4.3 but the problem is every few seconds the phone would just restart for no reason and this wouldn't stop. I went to the recovery mode and recovered my backup to 4.4.2 and my phone is well again.
Does anyone know what the problem might be? And I'm not in desperate need of the 4.4.3 update so is it safe to just wait for the 4.4.4 one and then update from my 4.4.2 custom ROM to that? (Skipping the 4.4.3 ROM update) Or do I need to do 4.4.2 then 4.4.3 then 4.4.4?
Just a few more things but is it dangerous not to update your ROM? Like to keep using this GPE 4.4.2 ROM for a long time without updating or anything. Is it safe to also keep USB Debugging mode on at all times?
Thank you for reading and much thanks for replying in advance!

GPE ROM update on AT&T HTC One help

I'm new on the forums, and I rooted my HTC One for AT&T, have the TWRP custom recovery and flashed the Google Play Edition ROM on my phone. Now I just received the 4.3 update for my phone, now I feel if I update I will lose my root, and possibly brick my phone because my phone is not an actual Google edition and I'm sure AT&T hasn't started rolling out the update yet...any suggestions?

Hey if you have a custom rom it won't install. If you fully convert to GPE it may install. Also there is the updated rom available http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341395

you can't install OTA Update on a rooted phone with custom recovery
you must have a stock phone with no alterations

DNA Update Help Please

Hey,
So I usually dont have many questions, but I have not updated my DNA in a very long time Currently I am running
Android Version
4.1.1
Sense Version
Sense 4+
Rom Version
ViperDna 1.3.5
I am running TWRP 2.6.0.0 and I think I am running DSB kernel but really cant remember because its been so long, phone is unlocked and S-ON.
I am looking to update to 3.5.0 which looks to be the latest one available, I have a hard time telling because there is no order in the threads regarding the updates that have been released,
I seen it says that you need TWRP BETA .6 which I have downloaded, and I have already downloaded 3.5.0 Rom.
So now my question is, what kernel do I need in order to install these on my device without issue, and in what order do I need to update them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
I still have my unlock token bin saved, maybe it would be faster and easier to re lock the phone, update to stock OTA kitkat and then install 3.5.0? Looks like a custom kernel isn't necessary in the install instructions?
Let me know, thanks again in advance
*Bump*

[Q] Updated to 4.4.2 I9205XXUDNE4 from 4.2.2 I9205XXUCNA3 and want to roll back

Hi!
As stated above, I tried updating to the Kit Kat Release for Portugal's I9205 from an asian I9205. Testing out the device, mobile data won't activate and gives me a "Please Insert SIM" error. Because of this, I wanted to roll back to 4.2.2 but seem to be encountering an error in ODIN, primarily one that says "Check Fail Fused 2 > Binary 1".
My question is, how would I be able to revert to 4.2.2? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Unfortunately, upgrading to KK is one way road... after installing KK there is not possible to downgrade because of new bootloader and efuse in kernel. If you want to go back to good old 4.2.2 let flash MegaFireV10 ROM from @ megalomanic14 which is greatly improved stock 4.2.2 and is already rooted. I could be flashed onto KK without consequences. Simple flashing back stock 4.2.2 could make your phone brick.
Oh, so there's no way for me to roll back? That sucks!
If I flash a new custom ROM, like LiquidSmooth, would my ability to use my mobile data be restored? What's affecting it at any rate? The Modem? Is there anything I could flash that could help?
Would restoring it via KIES work?

trul3 is giving good advice!!! flash the Megafire v10 rom..it looks and feels like the stock 4.2.2 rom with a few extra apps on it..
You'll be pleased and just May get your mobile data restored!
good luck
I did a Nandroid backup and restored that after trying NE4. The only change is the baseband is now NE4 but I am back on MH2. Is this not normal?

[Q] Help Req: Updating Rooted/CWM MotoG to Lollipop

Hi,
I have a UK Moto G (2013) running 4.4.4 KitKat and I installed CWM and rooted it some time ago. Now they are pushing out Lollipop OTA I am getting nagged by the phone to update - but, it always fails when I try. Presumably this will be because of the CWM and/or root. I tried a full unroot but that didn't help as CWM kept complaining on the upgrade reboot about something (can't remember what now!). I've read that in order to get the OTA update to work, I have to get the phone completely back to stock, but I can't find a stock ROM and stock recovery for it. Do I have to take it back to stock or not ? Either way, would anyone know how I can get the OTA update to work please ?
At the moment it's back to rooted and CWM recovery.
Any help you could offer would be very gratefully received.
Thanks!

Get the update file from Motorola, flash it with CWM.
