For contact is best way to backup to Google acount.
How did you backuped it? Do you have contact.vcl??

Contacts are stored in /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts.db
Put that file again and after a reboot the contacts should be back.
I've tried that method few times when I forgot to backup the contacts but had a nand backup

[Q] titanium backup contacts restore CM7

Hi allmighty xda people.
Last night i went from a rooted stock rom to cyanogenmod7. I backed up my data with titanium pro. Also i backed up my phone with kies.
Now i am running CM but i cant restore my contacts from titanium pro. The backup itself has a few csv files which i cant use with gmail to backup because the way samsung has the numbers and names stored is a bit complicated. Please help me get my contacts back!!!
edit:
Here's some more info:
- the CSV files have numbers such as ID and all the phone numbers are on 1 CSV and they are the wrong way around (for example 040987654321 is 123456789040) and the particular CSV does not have names on it. Names are on another CSV.

Dont you just backup your contacts to google? Forget the Kies backup of contacts and just use Google if you can, it's way easier to restore. Sorry I can't help more with your current problem though.

The reason i hadn't synced Gmail contacts is that i used to use my Gmail for 5 years in my previous job on the gaming industry. I had 6 different addresses forwarded to Gmail, including helpdesk, so there are 25 000 contacts in my Gmail account and i do not want them on my phone.
did you end up getting it to work? having a similar issue
Hey there, what exactly happens? Can you even see the "[CONTACTS/CALLS]contacts Storage" in Titanium? Perhaps the "incompatibility" can be caused by having different kernels in stock/CM? The contacts are stored in the "...contacts storage -kernel version-", so perhaps try flashing your original baseband's kernel, restore the files and then flash CM7 kernel back? (or not, I strongly recommend SiyahKernel

How can I extract contacts from TB backup?

Hello,
I've recently had my contacts backup corrupted (contacts app FCs after restoring the contact storage) by a bad ROM, and they aren't backed up properly by google sync/sim card.
How can I extract the contacts from the Titanium-Backup backup file?
Thanks
reinstall the rom with which the contacts worked, reastore the TB backup, now in contacts app export your contacts as a vcf file
hoped to avoid that. thanks anyway.
I have no experience with TB since I have never used it but for some hints.
Your contact list is saved in /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db
So try to restore the data for com.android.providers.contacts. How you do that in TB I don't know but that info should help you.

[Q] how can i open contacts2.db?

hello,
i've upgraded my s3 from stock rom 4.0.4 to Cyanogenmod 10 4.1.2.
now some contacts got lost, i tried importing them from my nandroid backup over titanium backup pro.
After importing my contacts application crashes though so i had to delete all contact data.
is there any program to open contacts2.db which displays the contacts in a nice, readable way?
sorry if this is in the wrong section
Hi,
I am having a similar problem. For some reason not all my contacts were synced up, and I want to recover them.
Were you able to resolve this, if so, how?
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Search "sqlite" in play store and download one of those sqlite database managers.
If you're using Google contacts, then remove yourself from Google on your phone in settings. That will clear everything.
Then go to google contacts on the web and check if any contacts are missing. If not, just add Google I'd again and let it resync.
If you're not sure or if contacts are missing. Then Google has nifty little feature of reverting contacts to a specific date. Kinda like windows restore. That should get you back on track, then after restore, add the google account to sync and you're set.

Try this one: clear contacts data
Sync contacts to Google in future....so much easier imho
Do not back up or restore any system data with TIBU. This has always been known. Use Google to back them up.

You maybe able to export them to an XML and then save it as a text doc to re-add them manually
Wayne Tech S-III
You can actually use .xml method in titanium, I always use that for call log, messages and WiFi settings, very reliable on those, wether that option exists for contacts I'm not sure

That is not awailable for contacts. I managed to get my numbers to an excel file, but cant find the owner names of them.
One other possible suggestion is nandroid back or flash back to your old Rom, try and restore them, then Google synch them

What do you mean got stuck? Did it restore Ok or has your nandroid failed? If it restored but doesn't boot try formatting system and data then restoring your backup. Failing that reflash a stock version of your old rom then restore your data, sync with Google then reflash new rom and let Google restore contacts.
