I'm running g3 ROM on my g2...I have also had the crashes most notably Spotify

Same here mostly when I haven't rebooted the phone for a while but still my s4 can go days without this happening. Oh well at least when they crash it's the most beautiful crash you'll ever see. QHD

I have seen that the updated Facebook app on the market kills the battery in about 6 hours on my X10. This compares to 2 days plus when running with the factory pre installed version.
But the old version has stopped working.
Has anybody else seen this and if so, what have you done as a workaround?

Google navigation problem.

Hi,
Just like to say you have a great forum here.
Up until recently I have been using Google navigation without any problems however it has now started freezing on me. Sometimes the whole app freezes and I need to force close and start again but other times it will continue to give me voice directions but the map stops updating. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
I have a rooted t-mobile G2 touch, with RcMix_2.2b custom Rom.
On a side note is it normal for the 3g data connection to stop during phone calls?
Thanks

Weird. Have you had the same ROM installed for a long time?
Yep, I don't think you can do 3G and voice calls at the same time.
Hi k0zmic
Yer I've had it on since about Feb this year. The previous navigation worked fine. I did remove the Google maps brut that came with the rom this wouldn't cause the problems would it? I have even removed and re-installed the app but it still not working.
Thanks for 3g info, that had been bugging me.
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
Hmm, not sure what it could be exactly. Removing Brut shouldn't affect it.
You could try nandroid the current ROM and then wipe it then flash it again fresh and see if that fixes your problem. I'm thinking Maps has just got broken since you've had the same ROM for quite a long time.
Thanks for your advice, might try an old version of maps, think I might have one backed up somewhere. If that don't work i'll try nandroid.

Good idea, an old version might make a difference.
I tried installing an old version but still had the same problems. Before I tried a fresh Rom install I thought I would try re-installing brut maps, so far it has worked still testing at moment but have completed two trips without it freezing.
Thanks for all your help.

Google Keyboard using lots of battery & data?

So I have my T-Mobile Galaxy S4 running an unofficial CM11 ROM, and I noticed that battery life seems a little whack, and well Google Keyboard happened to be 2nd place for battery use, and has already downloaded almost 500mb, heck probably 502mb right now. I find that quite insane, and it just keeps going. I feel like this is also the reason why my phone is constantly overly warm. Any suggestions/solutions to fix battery life?
Thank you in advance.

Install jellybean keyboard from playstore
Or install firewall from play store and restrict background data for it.

Try downloading another keyboard from the play store and freeze the current google keyboard you're using.
kind of an older thread but when i went to play i noticed that google keyboard wasnt downloaded, but i was using it. went to download and install but just downloaded it and the button went back to "install"... weird
Use Xposed app settings n revoke network access permission this will stop the keyboard from using data all the best

Google Maps on S5

Anyone else having problems with Gmaps? It will work for me on one route but on the next, it will try to start me from my last starting point or some random street 50 miles away. Rebooted and still had the same problem. Had to install Waze and that worked instantly so I'm guessing it's not the GPS hardware.

Has the same problem. Cleared the data, uninstalled the update then reinstalled from play store. All is working.

Weird
Used it a few times on mine and had worked okay.
I will try some more.

Google maps has been buggy lately, BUT on top of that ever since the 4.4 kikat update for my note 3, s4, and s5 my google maps/gps has been slightly off and acting funky...Delayed somehow..
I haven not noticed any issues with my gmaps so far though I don't use it often.
I would going to just suggest using waze, it uses more battery but I think it is worth it.
When maps goes bad it goes really bad. Even after clearing the cache and uninstall, I don't think I can trust it.

Free up some memory till we get root

If anybody else is having issues running out of memory before we get root, here's what you can do.
Go to Settings>Apps, scroll to all, and see which ones you can Disable.
I haven't had any issues since I did that.
Also, ART has given me a lot of issues. If you don't know what it is then your fine.
Here's a link to see which apps can be disabled. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2829339

Uninstall Sprint Recommended Apps. Or it reinstalls Nascar/NBA and all the other crap. I uninstalled them, rebooted, only for Sprint Recommended Apps to reinstall them. I disabled or uninstalled almost all bloatware. Can't get rid of Sprint ID or Sprint Zone. I actually use the Zone tho.

Yeah, the Sprint stuff we're stuck with til we get root/unlock. If Sprint/LG stays true to form, we won't even be able to remove bloat until we get unlock.
I'm a minimalist as far as my phone, so I have very few apps and widgets. Im always modifying things to make stock better.
It amazes me though that we have 3gigs of memory and it easily goes down to 500mb. That's when I start having issues and why I posted this.
I don't even use FB or G+.
Can't wait for root/unlock to see what this phone is really capable of.

Actually I've gotta give it up to Sprint/lg for actually giving us the ability to remove about 95% of the bloat. The very few that I actually couldn't uninstall I just hid. May not be perfect, but an effort was made to allow us some control, and that's a great start. Hope to see more of this in the future. [emoji106]
Sin, thanks for the tip.

I hadn't thought to run ART, but I decided to try it out. It's actually super smooth for me, no issues aside from Pandora, but I fixed that. No weird freezes or reboots like I had on my Note. The only thing that hangs slightly is Media Browser, but it's usable.
If only we had Xposed for ART. And root... good things come in time though.
I have been using an app for a few years now with some pretty good customization. Fast Reboot Pro. There is also a lite version. It works great for me. You can decide which apps it handles and if it will free memory when you unlock or lock your phone. Also a widget to free up memory when you need a quick boost, which is the way I use it.

Why would you disable them? Try clearing cache and data on them. If that doesnt work you can try to get copies of the apks.

Unfortunately my phone froze once a day on art.. Plus after I rebooted ..which wss a task in itself ...it would freeze at the yellow startup screen has to pull battery... Which with a otterbox defender is always fun. No issues since I switched back to dalvik

I had no issues with ART for about 2 weeks. Then one night I went to sleep woke up and some apps as well as some games started to act very funny. They would load then crash out the Facebook app itself would hang forever and never work yet the night before everything was working fine. I went back to dalvik and I've had zero issues since that time. ART was nice minus the issues I had I would love to keep using it.
What is this ART everyone speaks of

Android Run Time. It's supposed to be better, more efficient than dalvik. It's under Developer options in settings.
