So I was able to run towelroot when I first got the phone and started freezing apps with titanium backup. I must have Uninstaller a few I shouldn't have because my phone wouldn't rotate or connect to the play store anymore. So I just finished taking my phone back to stock with this thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2657447&nocache=1 and now when I try to run towelroot it says my device isn't recognized... Supersu is still installed but says it lacks binaries I think. Do I need to do a full phone reset now or something? Any help to get me rooted again would be appreciated.
Yes, I would do a factory reset. Than try Towelroot again. If not go to this link http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=27506 register, download and install this version of NAB http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=25854 this version is Sprint carrier unknown, Towelroot should recognize this. Last resort, go to this link and read up on CT-AUTO-ROOT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466423 here is the link to find the version of CF-AUTO-ROOT ( thanks Chainfire ) for you device http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ enjoy!! After your rooted stop by my XDA post on Bloatware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2770729 I read somewhere on which app causes no auto-rotate, I will hunt it down and post it.

First would not use all-in-one debloat apps, you really have no idea what is being removed. Remove or freeze the apps one or two at time, and that's half the fun!!! The app that controls auto rotation is " libgnustl_shared.so " the app for the Google Play Store is " Phonesky.apk " I would not remove them.

Sammobile is awesome, but it's also kind of against xda rules to post links to sites requiring registration, irrespective of the site's merits (and that site is fantastic).
Better to link users to these same tar files all found in the dev section of this forum.

I am trying to download the apk file for bamboo paper fro google play
I have tried the apk downloader extension in chrome and it appears to be installed correctly including the modification to the shortcut but when I click on download I receive an error that the file can't be downloaded. Would it be possible for someone to download the file or point me in the right direction...it's becoming VERY frustrating. It isn't compatible with my galaxy tab 2 so I just want to download the apk and sideload it.
Moved to correct sub forum as not development.
Google is your friend.
Try "bamboo paper apk download"
(Note to mods: This app is free on Google Play)

Ah, ok. How about editing your build.prop to trick the Play store?
Did that too without success although it could be that i didnt get the device id right. They only made the app "compatible" with a handful of devices so I was really hoping to reach out to someone who might be able to d/l it without restriction.

Dou you flashing stock rom firmware mobil odin ???
Dlkrt Modifikasyon S3'ten Gonderildi
Many ROM's are not able to get Google Play Services this package does just that.
Install Google Play Services using CMD (Automated) or manually (by flashing using CWM) (Instructions and files included)!
Installing this fixes the YouTube Sign In problem.
NOTE: After installing, open CMD prompt at root of this package and run:
Code:
adb install GPS.apk
Download
Well, this is still untested.
If this does not work, I will try to fix it.
Not a big deal to fix by the way.
y duos
I was searching for it long time ago, get the apk but all my trials failed to install. Does your package offer extra updating script?
flashed in cwm - com.google.andriod.gsm.apk is in app folder but youtube still asked to install google play services if I want to sign in
also placed gps.apk in app folder manually and youtube still says its not installed when I try to sign in
application not installed if install as normal apk
via CWM
I've installed it via CWM but don't know what to do then??

If you will only use play services for YouTube.
Then use this YouTube app instead.
Same look with the latest app but does not need play services which is a memory hog
Just flash this zip in CWM

I'm using this, it doesn't need Play Services
be sure you mount system first before flashing
or you can extract the zip and push the Youtube.apk in system/app and set permission to rw-r-r

Copy the GPS.apk in root of this zip to sdcard and install it after flashing it.

I flashed it and when I rebooted YouTube wasn't there so I must've done something wrong. And now that you've mentioned it, I just flashed it without checking if it was mounted to system haha o.o Alrighty. I'll give it another go and will give my feedback in a bit. Thank you for your reply.
Hey BarJei! Just wanna let you know that I made sure to mount system this time before flashing your YouTube.zip and I was able to sign in without Google Play Services being required. Thank you so much for sharing that! :victory: BTW, Google Play Store says there's an update for the YouTube that I flashed from your .zip. Is it ok to update it or leave it be?
Now to figure out how to get Google Play Store's Error 942 out of my way from downloading certain apps from the Play Store.. -.-

A simple search on Google of exactly what your problem was returns this as the first result. You are not screwed and it is a simple flashable zip file that will save you. For future reference, don't ever take an official update from LG if you value root access or TWRP on your device. Anti-rollback may be right around the corner.
Thanks!!

HI All,
The thing is I lost my phone whilst working in China and so bought myself an Alpha_SM-G8508S .
I´ve rooted it and installed a few apks needed for work however googleapps is near impossible to get working and my bank app behaves the same, just shuts down when trying to launch it !
Followed all posts on xda to the letter but no joy.
Please anyone with an Alpha-SM-G8508S who has successfully installed gapps instruct me on how it´s done successfully.
Thanks.
same here
i am facing the same issue here but dont know how to fix it!!!!
I have this problem too. If you can't install Google Play in this device, maybe there is a way to install custom ROM so Google Play Store would work?
Ahhh but how would you root it????

Simple with ODIN, just google it.
But there is no benefit of rooting, i guess there are no custom ROM's for this vesion of Alpha

Install twrp and flash gapps you're gonna have your playstore.
So ive been looking for a updated root for the sm-g530p. I cant seem to find anything other than a root that has a really old kernel.
If anyone knows anything comment below, thanks
I don't know if this helps or if your issue has been solved already, but I have a kernel called TrapKernel. Just look it up, download it on your computer, then flash through Odin. It is the best I know of. Also, if your issue is battery life, download "Root Booster" and buy the premium version of Battery Boost. It is well worth the cost

Could i get a link? Sorry sorta new to this.
Also do I use Odin?
Will i be able to make calls and texts on my current carrier.
I soon as i know i will root.
****RESEARCH FOR YOURSELF LIKE WE ALL HAD TO**** UNTIL YOU KNOW HOW TO INSTALL AND USE ADB ON YOUR PC AND KNOW BASIC ADB COMMANDS, ESPECIALLY REBOOT COMMANDS, DO NOT TRY ROOTING AT ALL.
After rooting, research TWRP and install it for your device- it is available on the twrp website and linked on other forums in XDA. THEN read about how to make NANDROID backups in TWRP. Also buy the pro versions of titanium backup pro, root booster (in-app purchases for getti g the full version),and es file explorer pro from the Play Store. Trust me, you will thank me later a lot. And even without root Nova Launcher Prime is the bomb (so is es file explorer pro)
I have a lot on my mind and schedule rn and don't have time to teach people (no offense)
You don't even need to ask unless you have a technical issue on XDA threads anyway as there are TONS of forums explaining everything step by step for android and rooting. Just make sure to never use anything from XDA unless it's labeled for your exact device model, even if it's only like one letter off (such as SM-G530H). ONLY SM-G530P OR YOU WILL REGRET IT; I'M SPEAKING OUT OF EXPERIENCE
