QQ: Flashing SU without Custom Recovery Available - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
The device I have came with an unlocked bootloader & It has standard "Android Recovery (3e)"
There is no Custom Recovery Available.
Is there a way to build a Suitable Custom Recovery, or even better Flash SU using the standard Recovery.
I have ADB Access.
Thanks Rob.

[Q] Find out if device run TWRP or CWM recovery from CODE?

Hi,
I've created a simple app flashing util.
But i need to figure out if the device is running TWRP recovery or CWM recovery.
I found out that devices with TWRP installed has a file in "/sdcard/TWRP/.version" but that file exists even if we later changed to CWM from TWRP.
Is there any build property or something to figure out what recovery is currently active on the device?

[Q] install custom recovery over custom recovery

hi
I have an unlocked (S-Off) HTC One Max International with Twrp-2.6.3.0
can I install TWRP 2.8.0.1 over it or I have to uninstall old ver and install new Twrp?
should I lock (S-On) my device first?
is this process dangerous?
I want new Twrp to install custom rom
thanks in advanced
@ma3743
Just flash it over. Only 1 can be installed at the same time. It will just over write it.

[Q] Recovery for Custom ROMs

Hey guys,
I recently flashed my Z2 yesterday with the PAC-Man ROM and now want to try flashing other ROMs, but realised that my TWRP has disappeared!
Prior to flashing, I was on stock and used XZDR to flash the ROM, but i didn't flash the "Z2-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-BETA.flashable.zip" as I'm on an unlocked BL + custom kernel, which XZDR doesn't support.
I've tried two different methods to getting TWRP installed into my phone, one via fastboot flash recovery and the other via Terminal Emulator, and although the cmd/TE shows the commands and scripts running and all, the recovery does not seem to get installed.
So my question now is how do I get any form of recovery installed into my Z2 (so i can flash a ROM!). I know I can use flashtool to reflash stock firmware and go through the entire procedure again to get recovery and subsequently other ROMs installed, but that doesn't seem to be a sustainable long-term solution!
Thanks in advance guys
Non stock custom roms come with a custom recovery %90 of the time
Press volume up when the orange or purple led turns on when the sony logo shows

Can't get rid of Cyanogenmod Recovery

I flashed a cm12.1 based rom,and can't install TWRP back.I tried the dd way,It flashed TWRP successfully but when I try to enter recovery I see cyanogenmod recovery. Can somebody please help me?I don't know what to do.
My device is Z3 Compact D5803.
Cheers.
How are you attempting to access recovery? Do you have an unlocked bootloader? Are you using a dual recovery setup? Many Xperia phones have dual recovery options when using custom kernels and you can boot to either depending on the button combo used.

Custom recovery for Zuum Sirius (Coppel)

It's a phone sold only in mexico it seems, network unlocked, bootloader unlocked, dual sim. Here are the phone specs:

I want to have root acces and a custom recovery obviously, but there is no official custom recovery (TWRP nor CWM), and, for tools like Easy Magic TWRP Installer to work is neccesary to have root acces. I've tried tools like Kingo Root, but it did't work, and most methods to have root in these cases is to flash supersu.zip through twrp or cwm. I've tried to port a recovery for mt6580 using a method like this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/guide-twrp-3-0-x-mediatek-devices-t3379681 , flashed it but didn't work and stock recovery is still there. I have a stock rom [URL="https://www.needrom.com/download/zuum-sirius-coppel[/URL], and TWRP's official compilation guide says that I need certain BoardConfig.mk file, which I can't find anywhere in the uncompressed stock recovery. Does somebody knows if yuweng's script for compiling twrp with bbqlinux works without root?
Thanks in advance , help of any kind is welcome
