Anyone else have the same problem? I need to encrypt my phone for work and I have my phone rooted on a stock rom. I've already tried 5 times and I still can't get it to work.

You tried to encrypt 5 times, failed 5 times, but never thought to unroot and see if this was the issue? I feel bad for your employer.
Sent from my SM-N900P using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I could be wrong but root shouldn't effect the encrypting process. I have encrypted rooted devices before. Some possibilities could be that the ROM for some reason wasn't coded right or the kernel wasn't. I do remember trying to root an encrypted device and it wouldn't. I hope someone here can shed some light on this for you.
Yeah I finally got it to work....don't know how though I just plugged it in and set to encrypt over night in the morning it was good to go

ive had my s3 for 3 weeks now, its been rooted but still running stock rom. today i experienced a reboot when i received a text message and this is the third time, each time prior to the device rebooting it vibrates for a long time i.e maybe 5 seconds instead of 2 secs, has anyone had anything similar happen to them? or is my device faulty?
Never rebooted .
I would return to stock see what happens .
jje
Nope. Nothing like that has ever happened to mine.
Never rebooted using system Apps but plenty times with others, and that's the developer's fault not Samsung's.
I wonder if a third party app may be causing it? It only reboots randomly on a incoming message. I usually know it's going to reboot due to the long vibration.

Yeah have you installed any other Apps that can send or monitor received SMS?
Mine rebooted a couple of times in the first few days of use. (unrooted stock ROM)
Never had any since though.
My friend got an S3 2 days ago and he told me he's been experiencing random reboots !!! His phone is on stock rom and ain't rooted yet !!!

Only whatsapp, but I doubt that is causing it. I've cleared data in applications for the messaging app, so going to see if that helps, thanks for the replies, at least IM not the only one having issues, I read on another thread someone having similar issues when using the phone and a SMS arrived, his phone would freeze.
People that are not experience reboots are you using custom roms, and if so which do you recommend? If I have to send it back to Samsung, will flashing stock ROM and using triangle away prior to flashing ROM be enough to get warranty back again?

You just quoted him saying he is. Chances are pretty good. LOL.

That means there's an App flashing something to Root and rebooting your phone, it happened to me with a cracked version of Rom toolbox pro so I uninstalled, and I'm not sure but that might add to your flash counter every time so you want to find out what's causing it.
Nope, mines been fine, even undervolted.
Ok I finally figured it out, it was nova launcher causing the freezes, using touchwiz no freezes when sms arrive.

Really? Nova is all I use on mine. Have never had a problem.

I have had the long vibration then a reboot a few times, had my phone a few weeks too, rooted and running different roms, only been happening the last few days.
I have a flash count of 9, so nothing too heavy.
Unrooted and went back to stock and then rerooted and installed villainrom.
Just had my first reboot about 5 mins in.
Has anyone encrypted their device?
If so, have you noticed a significant loss in performance and/or battery?

Bump. Anyone?

I'm going to try it today on the nexus 7. It seems it'll decrypt on unlock, so I'd imagine unlocking could be slower but once you are using phone nothing else should be effected. It causes no ill effects on my 7 then I'll do it to the gs3 as well.
I would try it on my Xoom, but the performance between these two devices is signifcantly different.

I would like to encrypt mine GS3 also. I wonder if I encrypt both phone and SD card will it affect it, if I want to install Custom ROMS or Restore ROMS since you do that from clockworkmod recovery? and it's way before your phone decrypts on unlocks.

Yeah, I have the same phone, but I cannot find ANYTHING about it. It has so much bloatware, and I need to root out to get rid of it, but i can't find any successful methods.

This is the root method page actually. Its the discussion about this phone. But the method is for the xperia I think.

Okay so me and my buddy rooted his zte supreme all went well then he froze some system apps and installed a few to many fonts now we are stuck in a boot loop. I'm not all that new to android and adb but I can't get it out of this. I was wondering if there was any way to completely while the device to a blank canvas and start over I don't care if the phone can be used as a phone anymore, I will be satisfied with just wifi. I have a stock boot img system img and recovery. But everything I do in adb ends up with a fail. When I boot my device all I get is a flashing android word. Is there anything at all I can do?
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda app-developers app
I would recommend if you can bring up recovery doing a system reset and that should cut everything out. But if you have no recovery loading the phone up with the boot.img you have will have to be done without the sim card in.

So im thinking if the root method for the Xperia L works for this phone maybe the roms will work with a modified resolution and stock kernel.

I noticed this is a ZTE supreme forum so maybe you guys can help.
I got a notification of an update for my phone last night. I said yes not thinking anything of it and after it updated the phone stopped working, It won't connect to the virgin network. Cant open camera. It freezes everytime I try to go to an app and it just goes slow. Also restarts sometimes. What can I do?
Help, I'm a n00b
I have had my zte supreme for about 6-7 months now, and i plan on buying a new phone in 6-7 months, so I'm at the 1/2 way point with my phone. I want to root my phone and put android 4.4 on it. If anyone could lay out the exact steps that i could do, that'd be nice.
Just wondering if anybody has experienced this yet and has had to exchange their phone? If so, was it painless to replace? My wife just got the message on hers and we will have to exchange it. Also, mine has not had the issue yet and was wondering if anyone knows how to tell if the phone is one of the ill-fated, that way both of our phones could be exchanged at once if it is? Supposedly, people will just randomly get the message after a few days of use, so I don't know if there is any way to really tell.

The only time I got that message was on my Galaxy S4, which I was running my own kernel and some hybrid between MDL and MF3 firmware. It really jacked things up when I went to use the slow-motion feature on the camera, including usually just giving me that error message.
From the sounds of it, something is borked badly. If you haven't rooted (sounds like you haven't), I would recommend replacing hers under warranty just to be safe. If you have already rooted, might as well a return-to-stock Odin flash.
If still questioning whether anyone else has had the same issues with their Galaxy S5's .... I haven't seen any other reports of this, but I haven't been searching for it either. I would keep close eyes on the other variants' forums.

Samsung has come out and said its a known issue. They said replacing it should be streamlined, just wondering if it really is.
I got it on my stock unrooted s5.. I had it happen to me several times w the s4 but I would clear data and cache on camera app and it would work. When it happened on my s5 it wouldmt work camera still failed.. I rebooted and it works ever since....I don't know what it means but my phone is running pretty darn good

That's cool that a reboot fixed yours. From everything I read, they said that there is nothing you can do to fix it, and that it is a hardware issue with corrupted memory.
I had a similar issue it said warning camera failed but after I rebooted worked fine ever since. Dont know if I should replace it or keep it

Get this on my Edge 7 which is using an SD card to store photos. It seems to kick when the phone is restarted for any reason. The fix is to force stop the camera app, clear data and cache, and then restart in a special mode which enables you to wipe the data cache. Samsung give instructions for this: "Power off the smartphone, then hold and press the Power, Home and Volume Up buttons at the same time. Let go of all the buttons and wait for the Android system recovery screen to show up. Highlight Wipe Cache partition using Volume down key and press the Power key to select the option." Hopefully, as it's obviously a software bug, Samsung will issue a fix.
My partner has had her z2 for a couple weeks. And she has always had iPhones and me mainly androids. But she has found it hard to use at times. For some reason 3 or 4 times a day over past week it has crashed and not responded. And also turns it's self off. And while in walkman app could not select songs only way I managed to get it to work was uninstall all updates then the songs were clickable. Then upgraded again and it still worked. Any one else had similar problems? Thanks

You shouldn't be having these issues. In my experience the phone is very stable.
The only time it resets on me is when I pull the SIM card. I'm not sure why it does that because it's not necessary.... But anyway
Try doing a factory reset and all that. If there are still issues call Sony support and get the device replaced, or just do a 30 return/exchange.

Yes i had these exact issues with a defective unit, it seems that replacing the device fixed it alltogether
Take note reflashing my firmware didnt fix my problem, if it doesnt fix yours then get a replacement
