Chromecast screen mirror? Touchwiz > GPE?!?! - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Why doesn't the ZU GPe running stock 4.4.4 have this as a supported feature yet when Touchwiz and other non-vanilla flavors get it?! Unbelievable. S4 and M7 GPe show support...why not us?

Thanks but I'm not going to root. Its a stock feature for Nexus and some GPe phones and it should be rolled out to us. I paid full retail for a GPe phone and should get the same feature set the other phones get without resorting to root. If the S4GPe can use it the ZU surely can.

I don't know the reason for GPe not being supported, said more devices will be added later. You may have to wait until that feature makes it out of beta.

Going through this process now (first custom ROM flash) - and I wonder... does this update the kernel as well? I'm assuming yes, and wondering about the KnockOn functionality.

Or you could always try out one of the AOSP Kitkat ROMs, available in the original development section. They're pretty darn stable, and can certainly be used as DDs.

If you read this post:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601067, the 4.4.2 leak is for the international S4 ONLY, not any of the North American variants yet.
Your S4 is probably soft-bricked right now, which is nobody's fault but your own.

Sounds quite reasonable.
Following Samsung OTA's for a long time across 3 phones and almost 6 years.. seems they connect some of the major OTAs to release of new product. Since the S5 is getting close could it be tied to that event? Betting Verizon's S5 won't be first on the release list for US carriers either.
OTA of 4.4 for the S4 prior to the S5 release just doesn't sound like a starter. It would be a nice surprise though....

I have thought about it but dont have a GPe to play with, should be easy enough to make the ROMs with @DooMLoRD's kernel?
And I think at the moment it could only be a 4.4 based rom? or would the underlying system boot a 4.3 rom?
IF you did flash a ZU rom on to a GPe I dont think that there is an easy root back to pure GPe at the moment as there are no FTFs?, and I think I heard someone say that the GPe uses something different?
Lots of questions...
can i flash GPE software on ZU its work or not ??

No, the partition sizes are different which will cause a hardbrick. There is a fully functional port here though.

I tried it and got the same message. I would like to find the application also. Isis support will not help with this issue. They say you must be on a carrier supplied phone.

And the config/lib files for it to work..just cause its a dev phone does not mean carrier specific apps will work...Dev build comes with google tap n pay carriers use isis....so yes there are reasons it will not work...rooted or not rooted its still a carrier based software..unfortunately

The app looks to see if you have a carrier version and if you don't then it won't work. I had a m7 developer edition and it wouldn't work either. Just use Google wallet.

ISIS also requires a specific SIM with an application for it. I also would recommend Google Wallet or PayPal.

i'm assuming you OTA'd to lollipop. if you're on any kitkat build there are root methods for all builds and you can downgrade to nc5 (easiest method imo)

Exactly. This device has been rooted for ages. The first rule of obtaining/retaining root: NEVER OTA
Devs are not inclined to find exploits for every single update that comes out (especially when the updates are usually to patch the exploits previously used). It's usually just the first or maybe a handful of releases (if you're lucky) that get root.
