To know the IMEI number of your device, switch off your phone, just take out the battery & look at the back of your phone. Once you know what your IMEI number is, you can restore it back using the guide @amolgosavi linked you in the previous post. Hope I Helped

If you have installed Google Play for at least one time, your IMEI is stored in your Google Profile.
Just go to your Google Dashboard, and search the Android Section.
Your IMEI will be there.
Feel free to hit Thanks, if I helped you.

Recover IMEI on the Galaxy S II and Other Samsung Devices in Nine Steps

Recover IMEI on the Galaxy S II and Other Samsung Devices in Nine Steps
credits to xda and vaskodagamma
Sometimes bad things happen and you don’t even know it. Flashing modules can wreck your WiFi, kernels can bork your camera and, and flashing some ROMs can mess with your EFS folder—and thus your IMEI—on Samsung devices including the popular Galaxy S II I9100.
XDA Forum Member vaskodogamagmail has posted about a method that may help users restore their IMEI if the all-important EFS folder is modified by accident. In a nut shell, restoring your backed up IMEI involves deleting the corrupted EFS folder, creating a new one, and doing a few file modifications with a root-enabled file explorer. In the words of the developer:
so I researched. searched all the forums and didn’t find anything that could cure my phone’s IMEI and set it to the original IMEI number. so I experimented and after some hours, I fixed my IMEI.
one thing that led me to the conclusion that ” .nv_data ” file is the thing that I need to fix the IMEI is that they share a very look alike name, and they have the same 2MB size.
While the guide was written with the Galaxy S II in mind, the method should work on all Samsung devices with EFS folders. Those looking to restore their IMEI should visit the original thread for additional information and the full method. Just be sure to back up your device, including the contents of your EFS folder, before getting started.
so head over to the thread

fool huh. this is an info, and just read the comments on that page and its not for someone who has fully lost imei.
Lol. it suggest to backup efs. In order to do so we need to mount the efs partition first. Doing so is the most common cause of lost imei in the first place.

OP haven't read older threads from forums
okie.. Now those who hav lost there IMEI must be on Network locked rite?? As of in INDIA we dont hav these network locked phones much.. Only some providers gave some phones but these branded devices are rarely network locked.. So i checked my phone with Root explorer and also in recovery menu no file such named as EFS(encrypted file system) which mainly holds the IMEI.. May be these nw providers afraid that the person might change the IMEi..

EFS(encrypted file system) is for Microsoft.
Android /efs is different from EFS. And our method of storing imei is different from other Samsung devices. So the OP method Won't work.

EFS is not a folder btw its partition which is never mounted to use with some file explorer things as you can see how much loss you can get just by mounting this thing manually

NO IMEI?BASEBAND - Hardware problem?

Hello Guys,
I have an 8 month old i9100 that never had a custom rom or even root, but for more than a week los it's baseband information/IMEI and all the rest. The EFS folder was intact, no file missing and I tried all the known restore methods of restoring the IMEI but with no succes.
My question is: can it be a hardware problem? The service said the board need replacement. I have to mention that the phone had some serios drops in it's lifetime, but non of them when this problem occured.
I need some advices...
Thank you!
hardware prblm cause no root, custum roms,or changes, tweaks u made ..but phone had serious drops u say...so the board mus b damaged..do u hav efs bckup,if yes then root an restore using helcats tool..

It's not my phone and I had to use the EFS folder I found. I tried with other nv_data.bin files but no result. is like phone refuses to read the file. No previous EFS backup as the user of the phone has no idea about custom FW and stuff like that... he uses what he buys.
go in efs and delete nv data.bin and nv data.bin md5 an there is a imei folder u can delete and replace with the backdup efs.....but sure u hav the good efs bckup or the phone is fu---ed up

already did everything I could... nothing seems to work. Also, afik if you delete the efs folder, the system creates another one with nv_data.bin inside, ofcourse not a good one. In reality, in this phone if I delete the efs, at reboot it gets recreated but with no nv_data.bin inside...weird
Wow M8! I just posted a question regarding a GS2 i bought from a friend with the exact same problem. If you find something let me know, If i do ill let you know then. But i guess its not because of the drops the phone has taken because the one i bought is intact. But exact same issue here....

[Q] How to recover my IMEI S5830

Good luck trying to back up ace's imei and at the same time doesnt messed it up and lose it forever.
See the irony? U wanna back it up and in the process u actually ****ed it up.
Why would backing up something ruin it?

Because it wasnt a folder to begin with. Its a hidden partition that intentionally left unmounted on boot. In order to backup it u need to see it, in order too see it u need to mount it. This when disaster strike. Forget to unmount it and it'll be lost forever. And even if u do manage to back it up its still useless because theres still no known method to use it to recover ace's imei. this have been said many, many times before, yet u who is a senior member with over 300 post still clueless. Thats what amaze me the most :/

I don't think you can really do anything...if you have backed up all of them with titanium backup you can just restore. But otherwise I guess you'll just have to install all of them again

Deleted files cant be restored on android unlike pc ( where it can be restored by by undeleting softwarez) as it is just deleted from index only.

sorry theres nothing you can do. you should always create a backup once you are up and running stable otherwise, well, this type of thing might happen. you should try using CWM or another backup/recovery tool.

i deleted efs folder 15 times done lot more so u cant say i had backup
you've got to be joking right?
and just for the info: it's not a 100 % fix
king_below_my_lord said:
First of all you should apologize to wishmas7er, he is right this is not a 100% fix, and you were able to recover your imei because your efs folder was still intact with the file containing the imei info, some people are not so lucky, if anyone gets their efs folder wiped clean or overwritten he/she is screwed and the only option for recovery would be warranty, otherwise he/she is stuck with a expensive media player.

You deleted your efs folder?
(technically it's a partition)
?? I'm at a loss of words, but as far as I have heard an efs wipe = screwed uptill now, I don't know how your imei got restored with the above process(just think about it how will a phone recover information not present on the device) anyway I am sorry if I offended you, I personally am not willing to take the risk of deleting my efs folder, so I won't be able to try it.
Anyway is your current imei same as the imei given on your phone box?

Sigh..listen mister I was and still will be polite, because I took into consideration that you are just a misunderstood newbie, we don't come here to insult or make fun of people but to help people in trouble in any way we can and a false piece of information like yours will be misleading to other noobs and will cause a lot of trouble I never in my comments went about calling you names or insulted you, and for your information let me tell you some thing's you should know
your efs, system,sd card,ext-sdcard,usb(if pluged),etc.. all are partitions and when they are mounted they appear as folders because linux architecture(which android is made up off) mainly shows them as folders ,even if you delete the efs folder only the data within maybe lost and not the actual efs partition wont get deleted. Now since you were very adamant about this efs deletion thing, even though I was sure that it was impossible, I went out of my way to ask one of the elite dev's about this :

salesale:
dont think so. probably is a joke
That is a copy of pm with salesale who is a developer who made the NeatRom for several devices like the S2,S3..
You see that^^^ the devs think that you are telling a joke.
So I am telling you admit your mistake and correct your statements about the efs deletion foolishness or one of us here will report this "wrong information" thread to a moderator who will delete this post, frankly I don't mind that in the least considering your rude and impolite behaviour.
