Good afternoon all,
I have recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S3 via kies to Android 4.3. I couldn't do the update over the air as it was rooted. I had to go through and root my phone again through Odin and again all that went fine.
However since doing this I have had to restore my device 2 times as it shuts down every now and then and I find I 'lose' some apps...mainly games, which I find annoying. It also wipes any saved text messages.
At first I thought it was only losing apps that I'd downloaded through other means (i.e. not Play) but it appears not. I still have the apk files stored on the phone and have tried to re-install them but I get a message of 'app not installed'
Can anyone tell me why this is the case? As I have previously said it has only been since updating to Android 4.3. Not sure if it is due to rooting my phone (i'm guessing not).
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Chris

See multiple posts re OTA and root problems.
Suggest factory reset if that does not fix then flash stock 4.3 through Odin .
I know that I can't do OTA updates... My problem is that the phone will restart, without warning and when it reboots I have lost all my text messages and a few apps. Trying to reinstall the apk files gives me the error 'app not installed'
I have tried factory reset both through the recovery mode and the system settings, but nothing resolves it.
My phone is rooted and runs Android 4.3 which was updated through kies.
The apps it loses are games so that's not a major issue... It's all the text messages.
I have a very similar problem, phone always shuts down and restarts on it's own. A couple of times it has lost some apps but usually it just starts up again fine but it's very annoying. Sometimes it gets stuck in a boot loop too.
A Google search for random reboot or random shut down brings up a lot of results but no solution's, so it seems to be a common problem. It's not just the stock rom either as it still does it when rooted and running other roms.
Hello,
I got this Cricket phone, and mostly successfully had it switched over to be an AT&T phone. It was working well for awhile, then started freezing up from time to time, and I had to take the battery out to get a reboot. I did a factory reset, thought I had it fixed, then did a Kingroot. It was working well, again, for a little while, then started up again with freezing up, but now it was also sometimes not using data, or it said my data was not available. My husband's was fine, so I knew my account with AT&T was fine.
My intention was to uninstall the kingroot, then restore to factory, but after the uninstall of kingroot, it got stuck in Authentication Failed Error #9.
I have successfully installed drivers on my computer, and I am able to get it into Firmware update status, but my question is, I'm not sure what I should flash to the phone to have it work best with my AT&T service. Should I start back at the Cricket initial instal, or can I skip all that and go to a nice rooted ROM?
Thanks for your help!

What say you?
Hi, I rooted my galaxy s7 from att using this method, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNInTlCpv8E
It worked perfectly and I had my new rooted phone! So a couple of days after the root one of my apps stop working and I cannot get it to start working, it was a pushup workout app, so I restart my phone and it gets into a boot loop stuck on the at&t logo. I was very sad as I did not back anything up so I wiped my phone using the recovery boot and signed in and re-flashed the root rom through odin and re-installed supersu and it worked perfectly again. The next day I have the same problem but this time with snapchat and instagram so I knew what was going to happen and I restarted and it did the same thing. This time when I went into recovery boot I noticed "dm-verity verification failed" in red at the bottom. As of now I am just going to do what I did last time and wipe and re-flash as I made a backup this time and just restore my phone and hope it doesn't happen again. If someone could please explain why this is happening and maybe help me fix it I would be so happy thank you!
UPDATE 7/26/16: I re flashed the ap root file with odin without doing a factory reset and it is still stuck in a boot loop, meaning I have to do a factory reset to get it out.
Mine is doing same thing. I used chain fires root. Everything went perfect. Then couple days later apps started saying they had stopped and phone started freezing. Every app I tired to open would say they had stopped. Then it constantly kept saying Google play services had stopped. I tried to reboot and stuck into bootloop everytime. Rooted again same thing happened again. U ever find a fix or anyone no how to fix this
I have note 4 been rooted for months with no issues all sudden today randomly restarted after the restart i keep getting this pop up wont go away saying "Unfortunately, NetworkSystemProvider has stopped. any idea why this is happening.
for mean time i unrooted it installed stock rom no issues
like be rooted again without that popup
Just wanted to post a quick reply on this letting you know you're not alone. My rooted Sprint Note 4 rebooted on it's own around 9pm EST Saturday and when it came back up, "Unfortunately, NetworkSystemProvided has stopped". Each time I hit "OK" on it, it's right back up within the next literal second.
Troubleshooting steps I've done:
Rebooted
Wiped Cache and Dalvik Cache
Uninstalled SprintZone update
Reinstall previous NAND backup
Factory Reset
Full OS wipe + NAND restore
Still getting the error. I'm monitoring a couple other forums and I think I've seen (including this post) around 10 other people posted that they've seen it within the past 48 hours. A few have had luck with uninstalling a recent Facebook Messenger update, but I do not have Facebook *anything* installed on my device. I'm betting on a pushed Sprint update as the cause, but have nothing concrete yet
First I'd like to thank you all for this forum, it helped us very much.
A few weeks ago My P780 (with english KitKat, rooted by seller) started showing these error messages "calendar has stopped working" "acore has stopped working" "google services has stopped working" "(random app) has stopped working". Only pushing the reset button got rid of these messages. These crashes became more and more frequent and I decided to try and solve it. I watched many "how to" videos on youtube and I decided to clear cache in factory mode. It did not solve it. Than I saved all my important data, and did a factory reset. The loading screen was on for too long, and I thought it froze, so I pushed reset. This made my phone to have a boot loop.
My brother has the exact same phone, and he did a Jellybean upgrade a year ago, and it was successful. So I have my phone to him, to repair it. Just by curiosity he did a memory check on HIS P780, and when he stopped it, it almost made his phone brick. So we had 2 identical bricked P780s.
After so many tries, he disconnected the battery and managed to recover his phone, and it works perfectly again. The strange thing is, he can't repair my phone though using the same method, same software, same driver, same cable and trying many ROM versions. After installing ROM, my phone works perfectly, but when he installs google services, all those "unfortunately stopped" error messages return. We can't understand why these error messages appear, if the phone was reflashed so many times and we tried so many ROMs. Does anybody have a clue?

Can you be more specific? What firmware did you flashed? Most of them have GAPPS installed.
Did you flashed the firmware with SP Flash Tool?

Yes, we used SP Flash Tool.
We tried firmware/ROM: "s129" (factory) and "p780_s941_vibeui_v2.0_1512". Both without GAPPS, because our phones are CE (china), not ROW (rest of the world). CE firmware does not include GAPPS. Tomorrow we will try to install ROW firmware.

Ok. I understand now. Try to flash ROW and see what is going on.

We installed VIBEUI_2.0_1512_7.149_1_ST_P780_baralajbi, this version included GAPPS and it workes perfectly. Everything is way better than the factory ROM. Unfortunately after a few days of usage the same problem returned (android unfortunately stopped), but now I noticed something. My phone keeps overheating.
I remember now, this has happened before, with the factory ROM, my phone became hot all the time, but I thought it's because of the very hot summer temperature. Now I noticed, that even if I keep the phone in my pocket, wifi, data transfer, gps, and everything turned off, not many applications running in the background, and my phone is still quite hot. When I turn the screen on and start using some apps, after 10-15 minutes it crashes.
