Not use Fix Permissions in TWRP over Kitkat & TWRP - Lenovo P780

If you will use the option "fix permissions" in kitkat (vibe OTA from russian forum) posibility you will break the root user and permissions.
In other versions maybe not be possible...in my case.
You use this program for root, unroot and restore root permissions with Kinguser client.
https://mega.co.nz/#!mVJWXBBa!zODNqEILtRagVkLWL3yCboz29vjKysoEeuxwK2RaeJo
You must check the USB Debugging option in developer settings for use correct the executable.

busybox howto

I have rooted my Hero and have root acces on 2.73.405.5. (no custom rom)
How do i get busybox installed on it without installing custom rom?
Would this work or is there a newer build ?
http://benno.id.au/blog/2007/11/14/android-busybox
Ok, I installed busybox according tutorial mentioned before but everytime after a restart i need to re-enter "export PATH=/data/busybox:$PATH" to have busybox cmd set again.
Isn't there a method to have it permanent?
find out where the path is set for android system and alter it?

Isn't there some tutorial?
I doubt i'm the only one with this problem
probably not the only one, but one of a few. most people who want to have root access and gadgets like busybox & co install modacos custom rom, where it works. maybe google can help (lol in two ways: either as a search engine or as maintainer of the official android documentation...)

no way to get a390 rooted
hi! i'm trying to root and setup a recovery on this phone but i cannot do it...
tried with no luck:
- scoutdriver73's method: sp flash tool hint me that it can download only a full image
- root with recovery method: script doesn't recognize when i confirm on smartphone for the reset, same for root option in mtk droid tools
- this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332783 for extract boot.img and recovery.img and fix root permission with mtk droid tool, i get this error: 0 [main] gzip 4324 find_fast_cwd: WARNING: Couldn't compute FAST_CWD pointer when i load my recovery.img on mtk tool.
i noticed there is a size difference between TWRP img i downloaded from web (5640Kb) and the one i extrated directly from phone (6144kb)
any suggest?
thanks
(LATE REPLY) This is how I rooted my a390
I noticed the post is 10 months ago, but I'm replying right now because there may be other users hunting for root solutions for this device.
How to root your Lenovo a390:
1. Download Framaroot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
Framaroot is an Android app created by XDA user alephzain. It allows you to root your device directly from your Android device-please click on link above to view full compatibility list. Download and Install this app. If it says "Installation blocked", go to your phone's Settings>Security and tick the "Unknown Sources" box. (Believe me, there are n00bs )
2. Open Framaroot. For the a390, there is only one exploit-Boromir, since it's a Mediatek powered device. Select Boromir.
3. Now you see two buttons: Install Superuser and Install SuperSU. You need to select only one of them. Framaroot will then root your device and install Superuser/SuperSU. (Superuser/SuperSU are apps which control root operations on your device ie. ensure no app uses root features without your permission-it is a MUST.)
The choice is up to you, but I'd recommend Superuser since it's like the Industry standard of rooted Android phones.
4. Reboot your phone. You'll find Superuser installed. Open it, swipe from left to right to access Superuser settings. The su binary is outdated and it'll appear in a red font. Tap it to update su binary.
This is proof enough that your phone is rooted, but if you really need to see, here's one more step.
5. Install Root checker from Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck
Run this app, and if your phone is rooted, Superuser will come up automatically asking you whether Root Checker should be granted permission- press Yes and root Checker will deliver the result.
That's it-congratulations, you've rooted your a390 without any pain. Now you can flash a recovery, install Busybox, overclock your phone, get rid of the dumb apps Lenovo has included with the a390.... Enjoy!

[Q] [q] Used towelroot, having issues with rooted apps

I used the towelroot method and it seems to have gotten my phone rooted. A basic root checker confirms it. I installed SuperSU and when I open it, the app says the binaries need to be updated, however it fails to do that when I click "normal". I also installed the Wireless Tether for Root Users app (play version and the v3.2 beta when that wasnt' working). I've tried various configurations to no avail. It pops up asking for root access from SuperSU which I grant. When I start the tethering it says there are errors and to check the log file, however when I click on "show log" it says "unable to find log-file. File does not exist". I've also tried Barnacle WiFi tethering and it doesn't work either.
Any advice is appreciated.

until you have updated your binaries, rooted apps will do this....
if you have safe strap installed and working, you can download the updated SU 1.99 zip and flash it thru safestrap....other methods are talked about I believe in the towel root threads but I haven't done that myself

The version of SuperSU on the playstore is outdated, you have to do the folowing:
5. Download http://download.chainfire.eu/448/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r5.zip
6. Use ES File Explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop or other unzipers and unzip the file
7. Open the /common folder in the unzipped file, and copy the SuperUser.apk to the /system/app/ folder in the root of the phone, confirm any SuperUser Access requests at this point.
You can also use the safestrap method:
Note: SafeStrap doesn't work with encryption turned on (disabled by default). If you don't know if you don't have encryption on/your phone isn't a business phone (in which case you shouldn't be doing this!!!) then you most likely don't have encryption on!!
5. Use this app to change your SELinux mode to "Permissive" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrbimc.selinux, this is required to use SafeStrap
6. Install SafeStrap 3.72 APK from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448925, NOT 3.71 FROM THE VERIZON THREAD!!! Then click install in the SafeStrap App
7. Flash http://download.chainfire.eu/448/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r5.zip, this step is NOT OPTIONAL, without this file, your SU Binaries will not update!!! (This is important!)

SuperSU in the Playstore has been updated top 2.0 and is the latest, greatest version now.

Busybox marshmallow + Browser secret mode

Here simple tool for busybox installation. This is specially designed for stock ROM and kernel users. Without busybox many root app may not work correctly so made a simple one Click Tool for same. Also it have one more function to enable Broeser secret mode with password/fingerprint.
This application requires root.
1.Intall attached Busybox MM apk
2.open app - grant su
3.read status of busybox. And select to install if it is not installed.
4.once busybox installed, restarting app should show new status.
5.Also added small Tool to enable browser secret tab (with password / fingerprint) but that require to have busybox. So first install busybox before activating it.
Really I couldn't test this so recommend to make nandroid (at least before some report comes)
Cant install busybox, every time i install it and reboot it's gone.

bug with my root an honor 5x kiw L21

Hello, I am french so excused my writing in short
I felt root my onor 5x Kiw-L21 b140. I root it using kiwi_twrp_3-21_recovery and SR5-SuperSU-v2.78-SR5-20161130091551. I followed the tutorial present on this forum. When I use an application to detect the root, the application says that I am root but when I turn on Wifikill or adaway they do not detect the root yet they have super user rights. I think the problem is that you may be using "systemless root", check it.
Yep, most probably that is the case. Try to find systemless host files for AdAway and flash those before flashing AdAway...
if you are sure that you have supersu installed on your device, then goto supersu settings and select root access by default and set it to grant instead of prompt.. now everything should work without asking permission..
