Other better camera than stock one? Is impossible to do "macro" foto due to no autofocus!

It seems as though the UK Legend ROM comes with Panorama and not the other HTC Legends. Why?

its not an apk.....its on the camera settings.but still you can download panorama taking apk in market.

I use Photostitch. It works better than any other panorama app I tried.

Try ro replace original camera app with working one (from other ROM). Maybe the app is just broken
I've had this issue before. Try go to Settings > Manage applications > All > Camera or SemcCamera something like that, then select "Clear data". That should work, if not you'll have to reflash your ROM. Seeing that other camera apps work out for you, it's not a hardware issue so you don't have to worry about that.
You could try out Camera ICS on google play, it works fantastic and the developer's an awesome guy.

What kernel can I use to change the default camera? my htc evo 3d cdma's rear cameras are not working (when I open the camera app or pressed the camera button it goes black screen and then force-close).

yes I have tried that path with no success. I heard that there's a way out by using custom kernel that allows us to change the default camera to load.
Did you make sure that the ROM has working camera? Probably isn't working because the ROM isn't fully compatible with the ROM!

Yes, I just checked it again and the ROM do support camera as one of the ROM feature is "improved camera performance".
The ROM that I use is Android Revolution HD 2.0.1 located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30484757. I have also double checked it by searching if there was any complaint from other users about the camera and I found none.

I would recommend to go to settings/apps/all and click on the camera.apk and when opened clear data and cache.
Changing to a custom kernel will not change your camera, installing another camera app will do that. The kernel is most likely nothing to do with your problem. Camera stuff like this is usually ROM related.
It can also be a kernel issue to depending on which kernel and what version it is. Most of the ROMs today have working cameras except the new Jellybean 4.2.1. (As far as I know right now)
But like raptor said, its more than likely the app itself.

It works but isn't the one with HDR+. Still useful for people with unlocked bootloaders.

I'm planning on buying the xperia xz1 compact. Can someone tell me if it's possible to use the google camera app on this device on stock rom ? I'm not asking about the hdr+ functionallity, i'd like to know if it's possible to take photospheres, etc. Is it available from the play store ? On some devices you can't see it on the play store and it's incompatible for some reason.

Yes, you need to download an older version, not the newest with HDR+. I think one of the last working was of April. I've tried myself and it works fine. Download from Apkmirror!

This are the camera apps I tried and found them to be the ones that had most features working. THESE WERE ALL TESTED ON THE STOCK ROM AND WITHOUT ROOT.
Asus Camera: All picture and recording modes work, but opening the settings page crashes the app. Normal picture and video quality.
HTC Camera: All modes work except for panoramic selfies. The settings page works. Normal picture and video quality.
Meizu Camera: Works flawlessly. Manual mode only has EV Bracket control. Normal picture and video quality.
Nokia Camera: Takes excellent pictures in my opinion. Slowmo video doesn't work and settings page is inaccessible. You're stuck taking 13MP pictures and recording 4K video.
OnePlus Camera: Works flawlessly. HDR doesn't seem to work. Manual mode fully working. The app has a sharpness setting mod available in the settings page. Good picture quality and superior video recording quality in my opinion.

The only camera app that I know for doing this is FV-5 Camera, but it's kind of a fake long exposure, i think it takes multiple pictures with the longest exposure available for your phone and then combines them. Try it and see if it's of use for you. You can find it in the PlayStore

This happens the first time you open the app, then you have to close it and open it again and it should be working.

That's weird, are you on any custom ROM? I'm using the stock ROM without root. If you are on a custom ROM or on another phone I can't do anything because you're in different conditions

You should make note these are tested on stock in the op.
This is xda - users running stock are probably the minority.

As I said before, these were tested on the Stock ROM and they worked, if you are on a stock ROM there's nothing I can do in order to fix any issue because I'm not the developer of these apps.
