Hi, I'm a beginner programmer and I'm using "App Inventor" to develop a simple android app but app inventor has its limitations. Although it can't do Background services it can save files and it can use SL4A scripts.
I'm requesting any of the good people over here if anyone has knowledge with SL4A scripting, can you provide me with a script (that initiates in the background) to send a SMS message to a phone number in a specific time and date?
Like if i want to remind my mother to buy me a certain book when she goes out tomorrow at 10AM.
I feel this can be very simple script but i dont know how to do it and i hope someone can help me with this.
Thank you ^^

Hi all,
With the risk of saying stupid things and asking stupid questions I'll still wonna try.
Question: I have a HTC Touch2 and I'm looking for a ISPC timer app. This is available for android and Iphone but found nothing for windows mobile phones.
So I thought of trying to make one myself.
My programming skills are school-like skills (so not realy even amateur) but stull wonna give it a shot.
I think I need MS Visual studio to do the basic programming but further then this ... I don't know.
Is the a sort of refference guide to the commands that are possible?
Like using the internal mike of the phone, how can I call that one? I don't know how to define the loudness of a gunshot (or handclap to test) and use that sound as a shot-counter and also a split time.
Starting a timer based function should be possible.
Then making some options to safe in logfiles and give it a name.
Also to make random start timers (between 2 and 4 seconds) or use fix start delay's.
All help is welcome.
What is the standard regarding install files that can be uninstalled in a normal fashion?
Sorry for all those noobish questions.
ps: not intended to make commercial app, but more open source so everyone can contribute to the making of a full-feature ISPC timer app for windows mobile devices.
For making an app you will need visual basic 2010 or 2008 with windows mobile emulator to try the app out and to design it. Next go to msdn website there they have everything you need to know to design a the timer. They have all the guides FAQs you need. Most of all GET VISUAL BASIC 2010 because that has {as i have heard}in built mobile emulator!!Any thing that I can help you with contact me!!!
SEE YA AND BEST OF LUCK

Im looking to hire a developer for an android application. The application is not terribly complicated, and we need it for our internal use primarly. We need to have the application check the location of a device and create tickets in our PSA when a tech goes on location then close a ticket when they leave. We also need the application to log phone calls (and text messages) as tickets when "clients" call/text someone.
I have a complete flow chart how the application should work. I am currently using 3 applications to accomplish the same thing, i would really like to build our own and have one app to run, as well as refine it a little.
Please contact me if you have the experience necessary to complete this and are interested int he work. I fully expect to pay for this development and am willing to pay accordingly.

Hello XDA forum members.I want to be able to make my own Android applications that could work via internet.I would like to create small and simple social network with some simple functions.I'm starting with learning of programing in C++ because I always wanted to know to program in that language. But first I would like to create an application that would be used in Android. So I'm willing to learn an additional language just so I could make this idea that I have and I'm sure that I will use this knowledge in future.
So my question is in what program do you code applications for Android smartphones, what is the best way to learn it and when I learn it I want to be able to make application like Badoo(social, meeting application) Badoo is the best example of what I'm trying to do because it is downloadable application that connects to their website.Because this idea that I have will have similar interface and similar features. Please help me with your advice so I don't loose time on mistakes and trying on different languages.Thank you in advance.
Please delete this thread. It is posted in wrong section.Sorry
Hello Friends,
I am new in this forum and want to ask something from you and also need your guideline for this, I want to develop an app like whatsapp, viber etc. but I have no idea how they works. I have searched on Google and found that whatsapp working on Ejabberd (XMPP) server. This server facilitates instant message transfer between two or many users at any given second. ERLANG is the programming language and Ejabberd is an open source Jabber server written in Erlang language.
But I want to know that if developed app how that will be work like what setup I required for this to run live and users can use 24 x 7 without any disturbance. Do I need to purchase anything like we need to do in website like webhosting, domain etc.
Kindly guide me in details about this. Your answers will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,

First of all this Question should be in the general section. Hopefully some mods will look into it
And yeah, you need an actual physical server to do this. Only then you can guarantee your customers complete hassle free access to it. Erlang is used in whatsapp because its probably the best language to code for handling large set of real time communication between a very large number of people. Thats why the creators of whatsapp went with Erlang even if its an old language.
As the customers increase your server costs will also go up. All the best. :good:
Hey! Its a Idea! But you musst make a lot of monetization for this app! Or you want make this app for your private chats with friends?
