I have a moto x now and honestly love the phone. For what I do it's great. I have an upgrade available and this phone really intrigues me. My main concern is the size. I really love the form factor of the moto x. I know that my next phone is going to be bigger because they all are now. But after going to a store and playing around with it, I'm worried the g3 is going to be too big.
Just wondering what all of you think about the size. Is it too big, just right??
Thanks
I came from a Galaxy S3, which I believe had a slightly larger screen than the moto x. The G3 is definitely big but it doesn't feel oversized. After having it for a week I'm starting to like all of the screen real estate.

I had a moto x also.. I love the screen size.. i've had it for two weeks now and love it. I think its a great choice.
When I first got my Galaxy S3 (4.8" screen) I had been using an HTC Droid Incredible (3.7" screen). I thought the S3 was huge and was worried it was too big for me. After about a week it was comfortable, and after a couple weeks I had no issues about the size.
I did the same thing coming to the G3. I was worried the sheer size would be too much. Though I've only had it for a week I've become very comfortable with the size and don't think much of it. It's truly a matter of adjusting to the new device. You've formed a muscle memory to the Moto X, but will adapt to the G3 in no time.
One thing which would definately help is getting a case for it. I've found the textured back makes for somewhat of a slippery grip (compared to the flat back of the S3).
Another thing that's making me hesitate is that the new moto x is supposed to come out in a few weeks. I know its not going to be everything the g3 is but pretty close and a smaller form factor.

I also came from a Moto X, though not by choice (lost the X, and I could buy a replacement for $99 or upgrade to a G3 for $99). The G3 is a great phone but there are a lot of features I miss from the X. The X is easier to hold in the hand, feels more solid (G3 feels nice but much more fragile), and I really miss the active display notifications. The Knock thing on the G3 is innovative but honestly it does not hold a candle to Active Display. I could go on and on, Moto X UI is so much better, better support from Motorola, quick updates, no lag, etc. I would recommend that you save your upgrade and wait until the X+1 comes out, which should be really soon.
You know there's an app for the active display right? I use it on my galaxy nexus and it looks and acts just like a moto x in that respect.
I've tried that app, dynamic notifications, and it doesn't hold a candle to the active notifications on the moto x.
I was just reading about Active Display as I'd never heard of it before. It seems neat if you're a media mogul but if you have any kind of security conciousness it's an incredibly bad idea. Oh look, work emailed me my paystub in PDF. Oh look, my girlfriend sent me some naughty pictures. Oh look, the proprietary drawings for tha tnew gadget we're working on. These are things I don't want showing up on my lockscreen. Know what I mean?
Phobos, you can turn off notifications for specific apps if you don't want to get notifications.

That's only practical with AMOLED displays because the unused portion of the screen is turned off and doesn't use any power. An LCD screen (such as on the G3) works differently. You can't selectively turn off portions of the backlight, which completely negates one of the main benefits of having the feature in the first place (checking notifications with minimal battery drain).
I came from a Moto X, tried the S5 for a couple of weeks, and decided to sell the S5 and get a G3. I'm loving the G3. There are some things I miss about the X: active notifications, always-on voice controls, and the size. However, I don't regret going with the G3. It really is a fantastic device thus far and more comfortable than I expected.

I am due for an upgrade this coming Wednesday and right off the bat I was thinking "I'm getting the new SGS4!"
Well, first off, let me explain that I'm coming from an international imported galaxy nexus gsm. The developer support on this device is amazing!
After seeing the S4 in person the other day I then also wandered off and looked at the HTC One - seems like a nice device, mostly the build quality.
I think the One has great build quality, or at least the materials are nice to the touch for me personally. The SGS4 is great but I hate how it just fits the moniker of "It's made by Fisher Price". Then, lastly I remembered the ol' Optimus G series. Yes, it's plastic like the SGS4 but it does have a nice back glass piece.
I think I am now heavily considering the Optimus G because of price $50 and it seems to have nearly the same chipset/performance as the SGS4/One.
One thing I'm concerned about is the notification LED on this device. How does it work for alerts? Is it multi-colored? Is it just on the side around the power button, or is there a seperate LED on the front plate? With a custom rom like CM or AOKP can you change the behaviour?
Battery life seems to be slightly better than my GNex, but if it outlasts this I'll be happy with that.
The Optimus G has a really nice build quality but you will probably want to get a case for it if you are prone to dropping things. The thing about is the fact that it is somewhat slippery because of its glass body design, but that is what also makes it feel like a substantial and premium device in the hand.
The led light is only located around the power button on the right side of the phone and it is hard to tell if you have a notification based off of that because it is not in your peripheral vision when you are looking at your phone. But even thought the LG OG does not have a removable back and battery the AT&T version still has a micro sd card slot so you are able to increase your storage compared to GSIV which has both.
In the point of feeling in the hand the quality also affects durability. The GS4 has a plastic casing which makes it more durable but cheap feeling. The HTC One feels very nice in the hand with its Aluminium uni-body design but may be prone to denting. But these qualities may be negligible depending on if you decide to use a case or not.
Regardless I like my LG OG because it's a nice device and custom rom development is starting to pickup so that I am not bound to the stock software.

For what its worth, I just switched back to my Optimus G from Note 2 (same build quality and materials). I missed the Optimus G quality and sturdy feel in the hand. I wont be getting S4 or HTC One, the Optimus G will be fine for me until I see what the Nexus 5 or the next Optimus G 2 looks look.
And what about using a custom ROM like CM or AOKP, can you change the behaviour of the LED light?
For what it's worth you can probably also get the Lgog for like 50$ and the others will most likely be 200$ and it will probably be identical performance.
That's a pretty big factor for me especially since I'll end up on a custom rom no matter what I pick. May as well get the better quality materials cheaper if you aren't losing a lot of performance. (From what I've seen the newer phones aren't a 150$ upgrade anyway)
Regarding LED...
Just think of it as a red light bulb with low brightness.
It is really not noticeable unless you are seeing it from an angle facing the power button directly. There is no color change like GS3.
Honestly LED is kinda useless in OG.
But I hate LED notification on GS3 oh well

I don't think an OG is worth switching to from a GNex. You have much more active ROM development, and updates to Android as soon as they're available. It took AT&T six months to update the OG to Jelly Bean, and the 4.1.2 version we got is probably the end of that road. And because the dev community is relatively modestly sized, your alternatives are much narrower. On the bright side, LG's stock UI is very nice.
The AT&T OG also has a card slot for up to 64GB, so that might be a factor for you. The Sprint version does not.
The Gnex is just suffering from a lot of lag with 4.2.2 now. Doing some minor tasks it's OK.. but try taking a picture, sharing it via Facebook, or SMS, then browsing the web.. etc.. it starts to show it's age quick compared to these other devices with twice the ram about faster CPU's. I will hang on to the GNex I'm sure but the $50 price tag is a huge bonus seeing as how it's nearly identical performance to the One and the SGS4.
I will end up on an AOSP based rom because I'm a vanilla android lover.
If you need a notification light, the LG Optimus G is not the device for you. It's nearly useless on this device. The rest of the phone is great. I'm waiting on a new Nexus phone or similar before even considering an upgrade.
Well if your on T-Mobile goodluck on getting the LTE work as for weeks and weeks. I've been trying to get the LTE to work for this phone. I'm thinking about switching to the Nexus 4 instead.

The most honest feedback you'll ever get up there ^
I think the media aspect is partly to blame. This phone is powerful, but people don't care about specs. If it doesn’t have a serious advertising campaign then no one cares. Since this didn't get much commercial attention the dev community is smaller than a lot other phones. If that matters to you then yeah stay with your phone. Also we don't really have much accessories (the actually look good) to work with. If you could careless about all of that and performance is your thing then yes get the LGOG. Bottom line, this is a great phone that didn't get proper attention. -PhonePhan
Oh the aesthetics, u will def. want a case for reasons alrdy mentioned so that kind of negates the feel n admiring it's build quality somewhat.
The GS4 u may want a case as well so can cancel out its poor feel.
Point is, so many talk bout looks and feel etc in reviews and in person but wouldn't most people want a case for protection?
Sony Xperia Z appeals to me if I was in the market right now. GS4 may be 150 more now but that is easily canceled out when you consider resale value. What I loved about my iPhones before switching to android

Yea, I came from a sprint HTC M7 and REALLY wanted to switch to verizon and get the G3 (sprint sucks...lol)...the only thing holding me back was the lack of develpment on the G3, as soon as I saw it taking off, I made the switch, I agree the 5.5 screen is pretty big and wasnt sure if I would like it but it actually is really nice in my opinion, I dont know if I can go any bigger though, I may as well carry a tablet...lol

I'd say we're REAL close to being a phablet with this phone. Not quite, but it's right on the cusp. But, for me, I don't feel it's too big, It feels just right and the phone still fits pretty comfortably in my pockets, but I don't wear skin-tight jeans. That would be just too much for everyone to see. I don't have the Mark Wahlberg physique. I think what really helps is not having the volume rockers and the power button on sides, so the bezel is smaller which allows us to have a bigger screen, but it can still fit comfortably in your hands (well, if you don't have real small hands that is).
I agree with the screen. When I saw it in the store, it was really nice. But, it wasn't until I got it home and streamed one of my HD movies from my Plex server that I really saw the difference. Wow. I mean, the screen does have a higher pixel density than a 1080p HD tv. Not to say it looks better (not big enough), but I could tell the difference between what the videos looked like on the G3 compared to say, my previous phone, the Droid RAZR HD. Real sharp, almost as if they were right there.
Best phone I've had yet.
i came from s3 vzw . my first thought was this fone going to be huge.but it doest feel big . and i have med size hands . i bought a cover for the fone and still doesnt feel big. any bigger might aswell use a tablet . before purchasing i read up on reviews , everyone mentioned that the feel of the phone in hand is better then the m8 . the 2k resolution is awesome . after rooting and debloat it runs smooth . im on vs98511c .
This is personally the best phone I've ever owned. When I got my taxes back, I considered picking up the Nexus 6 but when the time came I decided I couldn't abandon this baby. I put all my faith in LG and took the plunge on the G2 and man, I'm glad I did! LG customer for life!
Right there with you, I adore this phone. It does everything I could possibly want with a smartphone, I can hammer away at it all day and the battery holds up, and most importantly it's enjoyable to use. I only realized after I got my G3 how much my old phone annoyed me and how I'd made excuses for all the dumb things it did... night and day aren't different enough to describe the transition!
I love LG's UI and the knock knock feature. They've absolutely redeemed themselves.
I love how the screen size is 5.5", yet smaller than phones with even smaller screens thanks to the incredibly small bezels. The only thing I don't really care for is the quality of the display. QHD is just not needed, it kills the battery when using the screen and hurts performance a tad, I'd be perfectly happy with 1080p. The colors are also muted and off, causing most photos to look more depressing than other phones unless you always use 100% brightness.
This is by far the best Android phone I've had yet. Awesome performance, great battery life, just overall, excellent quality. Would purchase it again if I had to do it all over.
Here's what I've owned since going to a smartphone:
LG Vortex
Motorola Droid X2
Motorola Droid RAZR
Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX
Motorola Droid RAZR HD
This is my 6th Android phone and aside from my Droid RAZR HD (which I was able to actually unlock the bootloader before they patched the exploit), this is the best phone yet. Aside from the fact that the bootloader was unlocked (which guaranteed I'd have root forever), the G3's performance and stability out of the box is bar none the best I've seen yet from an Android phone.
Best smartphone for me so far.
Samsung WM Phone, Treo 700w, Blackberry Storm, BB Storm II, DroidX, Droid Bionic, Droid Razr, Droid Razr Maxx, Droid Razr HD, Samsung, Samsung Galaxy S4, now LG G3.
HTC hero, LG rumor, Blackberry 8330, Blackberry 9630, Galaxy S2,GS3, iPhone 4S, GS4,1+1, S5, LG G3, and back to a GS4.
G3 is a good phone the feel and exterior look of the phone are awesome. The one thing I didnt like was the stock G3 development. There are plenty of Lollipop AOSP roms.
I had a verizon rep tried to talk me into waiting for the iPhone 6, LOL. I ended up selling my buddy my G2 for $150. It was in perfect condition and he ended up falling in love with LG too. If it weren't for LG, I'd probably be a Note 4 or Nexus 6 user right now. Both of which I'd probably be happy with but the G3 is my baby. And I agree with the guy who made the comment about the screen size being big and the phone being smaller than others with the same screen size. I can one hand this device. Whenever I pick up my mother's Note 2, I feel like I'm holding a brick compared to this phone.
I truly enjoy this phone. I needed somewhere to go when BlackBerry, Motorola & Samsung let me down, & LG gave me the proper route. I love the QHD screen but just wish they didn't rush the technology. I really enjoy the UI. Over the last few years, I felt the need for ROMs & drastic changes. That's not the case with this phone. I only had a few tweaks. Overall, this is one of my favorite devices. I look forward to the Lollipop update & the LG G4 truly being a better version of this phone.
Only had it for a few days, but definitely happy. Wanted the largest possible screen in the smallest for factor. This fits the bill. Was easy enough to roll back to 10b, root and install TWRP...now back on 12b rooted and it's doing everything I want it to thus far. If we can keep root on LP by flashing the stock ROM I'll be doing it.
My history to compare it to:
1. Droid X
2. Galaxy Nexus (worst verizon screw up ever...radios)
3. GS3
4. GS4
5. Droid MAXX
6. One M8 (good phone but subpar camera)
I just picked up the G3 from ebay, lightly used. I love almost everything about it except that I am experiencing touch screen sensitivity issues w/ tempered glass on (which I am getting ready to remove).
I am coming from a G2 and the funny thing is that my G2 runs faster than this G3 does... is this normal? Now I will give you the fact that I am running a custom rom on my G2 and stock on my G3 but still. it's nothing bad, but it does lag slightly. Is a custom ROM needed on my G3 to smooth things up? Note that I did already enable developer mode and turned off the animation time to make it faster. I also am running Solo launcher w/ the ultra fast mode on both phones.
So far I am considering, sadly, to keep my G2 instead... thoughts?

Changing the Rom has greatly increase the speed of the phone, completely different phone now. If you want to keep a stock based Rom with a little aosp check out eclipse Rom with skydragon kernel.
well i suppose anything is amazing compared to the DINC i was using
honestly though, i was planning on getting the note 3 off of amazon or via best buy. the day before i wanted to get it, it went up in price. I'm sure it was fate, cause i know i wouldn't have been anywhere near as happy with the N3 than i am with the G3 now. its heaven.
fast
smooth
long battery
amazing camera
great screen
'unlockable' BL
and it feels damn good in the hand to boot.
oh yeah, it was free* too :good:
*excluding tax, BS 'upgrade fee', etc. but that's not the phones fault

Yeah the tempered glass screen is a waste. I had it and it got lose and an air bubble got in, and wrecked the whole thing. Put a regular screen protector on; I've knocked my phone against a wall in my room a couple of times (from off the bed) and its been fine.

Number Two Phone
I would consider the G3 my number two compared to the Galaxy S3. I spent two years abusing working with the S3, went to town with different ROMs, took a great number of pictures with it ... and it holds the number one spot for me. It was rock solid for everything I did to it.
The LG G3 gave me trouble within a month with call quality. Months later, the wonky USB port drained my battery from 39% to zero after charging overnight. I seriously thought the phone fried/died and that I would need to replace it with something ASAP (need it for work). Luckily, the phone turned on with a spare battery.
What's great about the G3 is the camera, the gorgeous screen and faster processor. Stock is better on the G3 compared to Galaxy S3's TouchWiz, so I'm happy with it.
I've had no issues with Noot's tempered glass screen protector. It certainly makes the phone's screen look good. I have a thin TPU case and it holds the glass on pretty well. I can also remove the case without disturbing the glass. My only complaint is the serious reflectiveness of it since I came from an anti-glare screen protector. It is virtually impossible to see the screen in daylight when using the phone for navigation in the car.
Yeah the stock Verizon rom definitely lags. But once you install a good custom rom, this baby flies! Especially on Lollipop!
Love my G3 best phone ive had hands down

I absolutely love my G3 and run nothing but stock. I personally have never noticed any of the lag others have reported, but everyone has different usage patterns and background services running. It runs a lot smoother than my Galaxy S4 (also stock) ever did.

G3 dropped the ball
In the past calendar year, I've had the G2, M8, and G3. My favorite of those three was the G2. It was a beautiful size with a beautiful screen. The phone had no lag (I was running custom ROMs: Cloudy, Clean Rom, and some AOSP base Roms). I would recommend that phone anyday. The only complaint i had with it was the lack of SD storage. The M8 was a great accidental phone. The camera was disappointing and ending up being the killing factor. I loved how strong development was on that phone. There was little delay from when I got the phone to when i started flashing.
And finally comes the G3. This phone felt rushed. I felt like it should have been released in October of last year instead of summer. The battery took a hit from the G2, the processing speed seemed to be worse, the screen wasn't as amazing. The camera was nice, but the front (selfie) camera was less than stellar (considering I was coming from the M8). I appreciated the removable battery and the external SD card. The last phone that had both of those features was the atrix 4g. The G3 cut too many corners and rushed too many things. I would recommend the G2 over it. It's cheaper and has very few flaws imo
I'm starting to think more and more about selling my G3 and getting a 2nd Gen moto X. After watching Droid Lifes video tour of lollipop on the G3, it looks like they didn't change anything. The biggest thing I was waiting for was the new notification feature. Sounds like LG decided to not fully integrate that in. It looks like I could sell my Verizon G3 for around $300 and buy a Moto X for $400 to $500. Can anyone talk me out of it?
The bootloader will probably go locked forever. idk whether that matters to you or not and who cares about what stock does. Our awesome devs are capable of a lot!

I've got both, as it seems you do, too.
Three G3 has an infinitely better camera, and for many uses, a much better display.
I personally would keep the two different phones for the ability to use whichever one best meets my needs as circumstances dictate.

I only have the G3 right now. I know the camera and screen are better but I rarely use the camera where I need a really good picture. The other thing I would wonder about is battery life. Maybe I'll just stick with the G3 for another year.

I looked at a lot of phones before I picked up the G3. I was tempted to get a Moto but that was the thing I had a problem with. I considered the Moto Droid Turbo that you can get in 64GB, but ONLY the "Ballistic Nylon" style, which is affected by heat if left inside a hot car. Along with the phone being physically bigger than what I wanted, and I think the Turbo doesn't have optical stabilization on the camera like the X does, overall the G3 had the least amount of turn-offs especially when it became cheap or free.
I also wasn't sure how MUCH I would like such a stock Android experience on the Moto. I would have to play with one to see what bells and whistles Motorola does add since I'm not positive what things that used to have to be added to Android are now stock. Like being able to pull the status bar down on fullscreen apps. Other little things potentially.
The only questionable thing about the G3 before I got it was how the battery life is affected by the screen resolution. Well, the battery life in my G3 is better than any Android phone I've previously owned. It's helped by the fact I picked up a tablet at the same time, so I do all my in-car music and GPSing on the tablet, and any quick browsing on the couch, too, so I really don't have the screen on very much and my wife and I are anti-social so we're on the phone only once or twice a week.

I'd say the best thing about the G3 is the battery. I've never had a phone last all day with my normal use. I am a high school basketball and track coach so I could have my phone on without charging from 8am to 10 pm. It usually lasts that whole time as long as I'm not in a small town with no service and metal box for a gym. The second best thing is the screen.

I agree. What do you think of the speaker? I love it. It's loud and clear.

It's a decent speaker. I don't buy my phone for the speaker though. I usually have headphones or Bluetooth speaker.
Hi.
This is just my personal opinion thread. Around three months ago I swapped the G3 for brand new Nexus 6P and wanted to share with you my thoughts. I will write it in a comparison way to show what changed for me.
1. PRICE - I paid £120 for used 16GB LG G3 almost a year ago. The nexus cost me £440 for 32GB brand new from a phone shop back in December (early Christmas present for myself).
2. DESIGN - I still really like the G3! The overall smoothness, no buttons on the side (I became a fan of buttons on the back), the feel of lightness. Yes, it's plastic, but because of that I never bothered with any cases. In worst case I could just replace the rear cover for new one - job done. The screen is very good, but over sharpening bothered me sometimes. And those bezels - I think one of the best examples of what you can do with screen-to-body ratio. And the size was perfect - big but still mostly manageable with one hand (thanks to thin bezels again).
The design of Nexus 6P speaks for itself. I liked aluminium feel on iPhone, HTC ONE m7 and I like it on the 6P. The only problem with it is... It's aluminium and I don't want to scratch it. So like on iPhone I had to sacrifice the superb feeling and put it in a case. The visor on top doesn't bother me really. I think it looks interesting, differentiates the phone from hundreds of others looking the same. On the front - (almost) stereo speakers. The play nice and loud although I suffer from top speaker being louder. And yes I can hear the imbalance... The bezels are rather big (normal, considering speakers upfront?). And I don't like these buttons on the side. When I grab the phone, and unlock with finger on my way, sometimes I lock it again accidentally with my thumb. And there's the issue with some car mounts which grab your phone from the sides. It's just a big phone and my next one will be max 5,5" for sure.
3. CAMERA - I would say that these are comparable. I don't have big monitor (nor the PC for the matter) to properly compare them but they both seem very good. 6P gets more light and that's noticeable. I just wish 6P had 12Mp 16:9 instead of 4:3 because that forces me to use 8Mp 16:9. LG gets 10Mp in 16:9. Both shoot great videos but I think LG has little edge here with its OIS. Both shoot in 4K but I think LG has more potential (with hardware mod I have it doesn't overheat, has OIS, SD card slot and can be equipped with 6000/9000MAh swappable battery for long recordings). And LG has dual tone flash which is brighter than 6P's.
4. SOFTWARE - surprisingly stock LG G3 with Google launcher isn't that much slower than 6P. Sure, everything opens up faster on Nexus but the difference is not big. Multitasking on the other hand obviously is better on 6P - more RAM, quicker app changes. It just doesn't have this lag that G3 has, everything happens "now". But I miss the soft menu key bringing down notification bar, especially that 5,7" is a long way up for finger to reach it. Other thing I had and has been taken away is Miracast support. Blocking it was a bit Apple'ish behaviour to try and force users to buy Chromecast (I have chromecast, but many other friends with smart TV's don't and Miracast allowed me to easily share pics and vids on big screen).
5. SCREEN - LG has very nice screen (except for this over sharpening), but my first AMOLED is just something completely different. I love these blacks! Colours are nice and vivid albeit maybe a bit too saturated. SRGB mode on the other hand seems to be washed out too much. Maybe it's just too perfect for the likes of regular user. And whites are definitely whiter and brighter on G3.
OK, time to end this summary/comparison. These are just few of my thoughts and I know that many things can be changed with root (CPU Temp app doesn't show temperature on 6P and it drives me mad!), but I am not convinced yet to do it so things will stay as they are for now. Would I buy it again if I knew all this? Probably not and I'd wait for the release of new phones shown on MWC 2016. Maybe I would even choose something from China? Why not.
I don't know if anyone will find it interesting but I just wanted to share it with somebody, maybe get some feedback.
Cheers!
I wanted to say quickly, about your miracast comment. I had the note 4 previously that I used screen mirroring to watch movies from my phone on my TV. The Nexus 6p doesn't work exactly the same way, but there are two apps on the Google play store which work similar so I can still do the same thing essentially with my Nexus 6p. One is called imediashare, and the other is allconnect. Sometimes I have to switch from one app to the other because one may not play the video but the other one will, but it's not that big of a hassle. Give those apps a try and see if it solves your miracast issue. Otherwise, I love my Nexus 6p vs the note 4. So far, the Nexus 6p has been the best device I've ever owned and used, and I have used a lot of devices. Cheers!
I came to the 6p from the g3 and I'm very happy with the choice. At first I really missed the double tap unlock feature, but quickly got used to not having it.

You can get that feature by flashing a custom kernel... Or I guess search through the forums there is a method somewhere to activate the dt2w... Sorry could have posted had I not been using mobile XDA premium app...
P.S I don't really use the feature myself as the FP sensor is good enough for me...
Also had the G3 before the 6P, and the 6P is vastly superior in every way!
I had a g3 before my nexus 6 which I now have a 6p the 6 was world's better then the g3 Imo and the 6p is a different monster all together. The g3 was my shortest kept android was far to laggy and slow 801 was not ready for that screen.

I use Nova launcher, and have the swipe down action set to bring down the notification bar. That way I can swipe down anywhere on home screen and it brings the notification bar down, no need to reach for the top.

I wish I could get something like that working without root.

You don't need root to swipe down in Nova. I just revoked root access to Nova to confirm. You just go into Nova settings > gestures & inputs, and set swipe down to "expand notifications"
My last phone was the G3 (D850). I did not have a good experience with it. I am blown away with the performance of the 6P thus far.

You could solve 90% of your problems with custom ROM and kernel... Try Chroma and Franco. You get all the features and your battery life will be much better on top. Using this Combo for about 3 months and didn't have a single problem.
yeah! I miss my htc-m8. because I'd multirom with 3 base version of Android! I mean, I'd kitkat and lollipop and marshmallow in same time. so good so far!
plus it'd amazing sound
I think I'd be happy to trade up to pretty much anything from a G3. My girlfriend has one and it's the most awful modern Android smartphone I've used. It's laggy, since the 801 really can't deal with a 2K display. That 'fancy' display is terrible, a huge retrograde step from the one on the G2 in terms of contrast, colour accuracy and outdoor visibility. The battery life is okay, but not fantastic like the G2 was with the same battery capacity. Then finally, hers locks up and drains the battery when the screen is off...
Still, I guess LG were allowed to have an 'off' day, since the G2 was fantastic, the G4 seems to be highly regarded, I loved my Nexus 4, the Nexus 5 was fantastic value if a bit creaky build-wise, and the 5X is a really nice bit of kit!
Edit: The speaker on the G3 is really good though. Nearly gives me a heart attack every time the damn thing rings. You could probably hear it from another continent...
The G3 was the worst phone I've owned in the past 5 years. Overheating, laggy piece of crap.
Amazing how many 6p guys came from g3. I didn't have any issues with my g3 other than battery. Would have left back to Nexus if the 6 had been worth a crap
LG G4 => Nexus 6P. Totally worth it.
I loved my G3 on Verizon running ResurrectionROM, 6.0.1, and xposed. Ran smooth and the overheating stopped once I got on Android 6.0. However, at least once a day it'd completely reboot on it's own and that got annoying. The screen was sharp but the colors sucked, brightness was awful, and the battery was awful.
This was a big upgrade.

It is crazy how many people came from G3. I had a Nexus 6 before my 6p and while I really liked my N6 the 6p is much better imo. I was at first skeptical because Huawei makes it but after a few devs I know talked so highly about it I decided to jump and I'm very happy that I did. I get a Nexus every year and this is by far my favorite of all phones I've owned since Android was born and I started w/ the G1. Google finally made a GREAT device with the Nexus 6p!!! I usually sell every year and buy a new one while this next year I will no doubt grab the new Nex I'm keeping my 6p. Nobody who bought a 6p has regretted it. I love mine!! ✌???
I also (we should start a club) came from the G3 to the Nexus 6p. I don't regret the upgrade at all. I was overall satisfied with my G3, but the battery life was the worst and I was never really happy with the screen. It was also super laggy at times where the N6P is always smooth. I do still find myself tapping the screen to wake my phone up, but am slowly getting used to the fingerprint scanner. Overall, the 6P is a way better phone in my opinion.

Agree with you on your comments...
I had a Z ultra which was very smooth, fast and snappy. I got D850 from my brother and it was very slow even there was a stutter when opening the app drawer. I unlocked BL, rooted and installed MM for international version on D850 and it is much better. Still my Z ultra was relatively more snappier than LG G3. The screen resolution was great but the colors were dull and poor in outdoors. I got 3+ hours of screen on time with one day standby.
I bought Nexus 6p exchanging my Z ultra a few weeks ago and its easily the smoothest of the three devices.
I love the screen and the development support available for the device.
