Hello All,
A while ago there was a thread going on the g-mail app on the GS5 showing blank pages for PDFs when in preview mode in the app. I can't seem to find it. Anyone know if that problem ever got fixed?
A Google search finds a lot of reports of the issue apparently being fixed as of late June. But of course it will vary with the app version you are using and perhaps other variables as well.
My Gmail app has no problems viewing PDFs, although it is better done with any number of other apps. If opening PDFs.If your Gmail app can't display PDFs, you can update your app, just set another app to open PDF documents. Or use a third party app to attach /view your PDFs e.g. Attachments [Gmail Attach].

Hey guys, is anyone missing options to include as attachments in the gmail app? The regular mail app has options to include locations, vCards, videos, voice recordings, etc.
i have the attachments option in gmail,
but i don't have as many options as the stock mail app, either.
i would think that the MAIL app simply has all of them as pre-sets, but if you use GMAIL then you can simply navigate to them using the pop-up suggestion of 'file explorer' or any other apps like 'andro-zip' that you have installed (which also popped up in my gmail attachment option)
Yes, that would be a viable option if I wanted to send something like a document, picture, etc. However, it would be nice to have the integration of the vcard, capture picture/video, send GPS coordinates, and other items that are not specific files on my phone.

good point
although some of those are indeed possible--but strictly from the app in which you would find them (*GPS--Maps app, for example)--
it would indeed be nicer to have just one starting place (gmail) from which all of those could be shared.
I was thinking the functionality was missing, but it seems like it was never implemented? I just looked at my Xoom and it only has my file browser and gallery. I thought my HTC Touch was able to attach these items, but I can't remember as it has been over a year since I have messed with it. Plus it was running some other hero Rom or something like that...

I'm having a small issue with Facebook on Android. However, I think it's an issue with Android itself, not the app. When I get an email from Facebook, and I click the link, my browser opens and takes to the Facebook page and asks me to log in. Why doesn't it open the link using my Facebook app? It doesn't even ask me which app to use, browser or Facebook (eg. if I have two different gallery apps, and I want to view a picture, it asks me which gallery app to use, and lets me set one as default at the same time). Is there any way to make Facebook links open the Facebook app, instead of launching the browser (or to have it ask me like it does with other apps)? The whole point of the Facebook app is so I don't need to use the browser to view Facebook.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm looking for a solution for this too, it's really annoying! but I've had no luck so far....
I've seen tutorials explaining how to use mobile facebook from a web browser.
I have also seen a hack where a correctly-named dummy app makes facebook think fb messenger is already installed. I'm not sure if this works with later versions of facebook.
What I've done so far is install an old version of facebook from July 2014, then used titaniumbackup to break the market link. So that it does not come up in my update or update all lists in play store.
The problem with what I'm doing now is that the facebook app periodically restores the market link so that I am not able to forget about my facebook workaround and update my other apps normally.
I wonder if there is a better hack for a rooted android galaxy s2 that keeps facebook messages in the app but does not require any further attention.
There were also third party apps that could show the facebook newsfeed and send messages but I no longer see them in the play store. Is there an app that I could sideload that is recommended to replace the facebook app?
Any help is greatly appreciated on this.
I think the easiest is just using an old version. Facebook 1.9.12 never asks for the update. Message away to your heart's content. It's posted on another xda thread
I have been using Ubersync for quite some time, because I liked the options of using better resolution/file size of facebook profile pics for my phone contacts, but recently, Facebook tightened up it's restrictions and these apps will no longer work. Unfortunately, most of my friends are not on Google + nor do they have a profile pic for their google account.
When I tried to use the facebook app for my contact pics, the resolution was even blurry when viewing as a small bubble icon for text messages. I could not find any other settings to enhance the pics, so it was very disappointing to say the least.
Just thought I would share, for those of you who have root access, there is an app which will allow you to somehow bypass facebook restrictions and use nice clear pics for your phone contacts from facebook. The app is called Social Contact Photo Sync
The developer responds quickly to inquiries. There is a free version in the play store (with ads) or you can buy the paid version to remove ads. Just thought I would share with anyone who has been annoyed with the recent facebook restrictions and does not want low resolution pics for your phone contacts.
Hello everyone!
I'm having an issue with the built-in Email app on my RN4X (mido). For some reason it creates duplicated labels (folders) on my Gmail account.
For example, the app creates its own "Sent" folder, which I then see in the Gmail web interface as "/[Imap]/Sent", the same with Trash and few more folders.
Usually with other apps, the workaround was to set an IMAP default prefix - which is [Gmail] in this case, and the mail app realized which folder is which and used the standard ones in Gmail, but the MIUI Email app doesn't seem to "understand" this.
Can someone please enlighten me here? Do you use Gmail with the built-in Email app?
PS: Of course, the simple solution would be to use Gmail app and be done with it, however, I'd like to keep my mail accounts in one app and I don't really like how the Gmail app handles multiple accounts (you can't set it to default into "All Inboxes", etc.). So the built-in app seems fine for this and I don't really like to install yet another app (Outlook, etc.) to use it for something as simple as email.
I'm using the latest update of everything on my phone, so I don't think the issue can be here. But if someone has an older version of an app that should be working, I'm all for it.
Thanks a lot!
