Is it just me, or is there zero LED light notification of pending text messages? I'm sure this will be fixed when we achieve root, but seriously?

Mine flashes green with text messages. Be sure you don't have quiet mode enabled.

I checked it and it does flash.. but it is almost unnoticeable, compared to the Galaxy phones with their huge LED light on the front.

Mine flashes green as well. I love the sleek look of the LG indicator, and think it ties in perfectly with the rest of the lines and sleekness of the phone.

I am coming from the Droid 1 were I was able to setup different colored LED notifications based on different events. When I switched over to the Thunderbolt I can't seem to get those same options. Does the TB only have two LEDs?
For example, in Handcent I was able to set a different color LED depending on who sent me a text, now when I try to set that option it will not open the color selector. Same goes for TouchDown Exchange, I cannot customize the color of the LED.
Thank you.
I am also wondering about this feature. I know its been covered but I'm on my phone and don't feel like looking. But I think it has something to do with htc software or something like that

I personally liked being able to set a different LED color for my txt messages, made it easy to see if I had something waiting when My volume is off at work.
Minor detail though, that I barely miss now. I can just turn off the led notification for anything else, has the same effect. It's almost invisible behind the speaker cover though, the led on the TB is really only useful for determining when it is fully charged IMO.
I went from the droid to the fascinate and had no LED. Now I went from the fascinate to the thunderbolt, and I'm very happy to have any led.

quick question about the LED's guys... sometimes i look at my phone and no lights are blinking but then i look and i have new texts. i havent changed any settings regarding led lights or downloaded any apps to change them. are they suppposed to stop blinking after a while or is something wrong? i remember on my old droid one they would keep blinking untill i checked it, but then again that was a motorola phone... thanks in advance
I see people mention the LED but in store there's never any conectivity. Usually the same thing with videos on YT. Can anyone confirm an RGB notification led?
Any links to a video would be a plus. Coming from N1 can't take the galaxy nexus delays and VZ exclusivity so hoping not to miss too many features.
RGB notification led of the sort. The only colors I've seen it do is orange and green. Also compare the specs that are released for the Nexus Prime and the Ruby and the Ruby wins 9 out of 10 times on the hardware.

Green, red and amber (orange) only, not RGB.
Red only shows up on extremely low battery.

Can you guys test this out with Handcent , Blink or any of the LED apps ?
I have to have sound off most of the day so colored notifications is a huge deal for me.
i will check it out i looked into the files in the system and it looks like theres stuff for blue but not sure how to enable it

Blues what I use for missed calls
I remember Nexus One had same issue. It was RGB but only white was accessible. LilHermit ((I think thats who it was))figured it out and unlocked it somehow way before Googles official update.

womp womp...
But thank you guys for checking.
on old gingerbread phones without led notifications there used to be a kernel maybe Franco don't recall that had the ability to flash the capacitive buttons. That would be key on our G anyone know if its possible?
from my Nexus7 while my Optimus rests
Bln support. Built into kernel. Then the app will work
the best phone ever
Yes that was it I remember the app and the kernel dependency now if someone would do this lol

Crazy enough there is an app that can do it. It's working on mine. You wouldn't expect it to work though but it does. The app if Light Flow. You have to enable the app to control the buttons light. It does work but seems to cause a full wakelock.

From my understanding that only Samsung phones can use bln. But on another note why would you want that when we have a very bright led on the power button?
Edit: while that would look clean with the front buttons for notification that would give some drain battery drain not worth it to me since we already have a led light for notification. While wouldn't be my first choice for the location, they should have done it like the sprint model.

Aside from the side location, the other issues with that notification light are 1) the fact that it only blinks ever 30 seconds or so, with no option to change the frequency, and 2) instead of an RGB LED, apparently LG only put a red one in, thus making it impossible to differentiate between different notifications.
If frequency can be fixed, I'd be happy. Otherwise, getting the capacitive buttons to each indicate a certain notification seems like a great alternative.

There would be so little battery drain you would never notice. Also, if you turn off the red led and only use the front capacitive leds the "drain" would be equaled out. I used BLN before and it is amazing. Would love to see it on the LGOG.

Well I notice it blink every 5-6 seconds for a minute or so. But in a dark or lit room I can see it just fine. Only thing I don't like that it on the side should have been on the front like the sprint model. And still don't see why they made the phone different anyway. Just glad the att model has the sd card slot

Up until last night I'd always thought that the Ascend Mate 2 (MT2-L03) had a simple dual color notification LED. That being green and red (the combination of which makes orange or amber). I've always been kind of annoyed by this, since it severely hinders the ability to define multiple custom notification colors like I've been used to with Nexus and Motorola devices amongst others.
Last night while trying to do the official Huawei 'downgrade' to Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) my phone showed that the notification LED is in fact a tri-color one - indeed it's capable of displaying the color blue! I was sort of taken aback, and this makes me wonder why Huawei wouldn't enable the blue segment of the LED in the kernel itself. I'd love to be able to have an unlimited pallete of possible notification colors like I had with my old Galaxy Nexus.
Just something curious that I wanted to share....

The Dev just said he isn't. lol. And to add to that said that it is unable to pulse. So now its just a blue LED that stays on when your screen is off? hahaha.
Did it not pulse with that boot error? I remember seeing it back when but don't remember if it was solid.

I will check into it in a few. Just got home. Never seen mine do blue. But I didn't bother looking at it while it was doing that. Lol.
Well after trying simple stuff mine doesn't seem to be able to display blue. May be hardware variation too. Or they may have used combo to get the blue effect. Sending Hex did nothing.
U-ra said it was an after thought possibly by Huawei and is wired different. (Maybe that's what he said) lol

It definitely pulsed, as in blinked on and off. Maybe he was referring to full PWM control or something...
Who knows, the only time I've ever seen it light was during a failed attempt at using the Huawei flash back to Jelly Bean.
He also said it wasn't very bright, which I definitely disagree with because it was quite bright - easily as bright as I've ever seen the green and red segments light during normal operation of the handset.

Same for me. However if it isn't I kernel it still wouldn't work. Without the information about the hardware its a moot point. I will keep checking into it though. My curiosity will see to that. Lol.
Yeah, I would love to have blue as an option as well.
So, I have 4 problems I'd like to see fixed if anyone knows how to do so. I just moved from an LG G2 to the V10. The first issue being:
1.) On my G2, I was able to use the "LG On Screen Phone" software to mirror my phone onto my Windows computer and control it. I don't seem to have that option on my V10. Is there a way to get this working?
The other three problems I have I think are more software/android related:
1.) On my lockscreen, if I have any notifications (SMS, missed call, emails, etc), the icons no longer show in the top notification bar. Is there a way to get these icons back?
2.) On my lockscreen, I'd like to remove the camera shortcut so I can't open it on the lock screen. Is there a way to remove this?
3.) It seems that no notifications are blinking the LED light. When the screen is off and I have an unread notification, missed call, SMS, etc, the LED doesn't do anything. Is there a way to get this turned on?
EDIT: I've found my answer on OSP. Apparently it doesn't work on Lollipop (I've hated lollipop). Does anyone know when the next version of Android is coming out for this phone? I think it's Marshmallow.
Thanks!
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the V10 has no notification LED. That's what the 2nd window is for.
That's one thing I do miss. It was rather convenient glancing to see if I had a message, missed call, etc.

No notifications in the status bar on lockscreen is a lollipop thing. There is no status bar clock either. Just network and battery.

OMG - THIS.
I'd sacrifice a little more battery to have this brighter, particularly once they release the wireless charging back.
