Same here. I know that some devs have the device and are working on it, but the devs I've come to know from other devices seem to have jumped to another carrier or have other phones they are working on.

I thought JCase had a working root but was going to wait for bootloader unlock, since it's gonna be a paid method
If you read in the international root thread, jcase says mid Aug. But we might be getting it sooner from elsewhere.

Sounds promising to say the least. I can not wait for root to get my Viper4Android working again!!!
Its my understanding that jcase's root is a much broader root than just our phone and that is part of the reason he is holding off (In addition to family issues and other obligations). He would rather wait a month or so and then release the root which can be used on potentially a bunch of phones than release it now and have it work on Sprint's G3 and let the other manufacturers patch it before they release.
Sucks for us but I understand.. hopefully someone else releases something if not I think jcase will still hook us up but he wants the most bang for the buck.. rooting a bunch of phones.. (No, not money, although he would probably get some of that too.)

I don't see the need in a "broader" root. Every other LG G3 variation already has root as I understand it. Reading between the lines, I believe that jcase has a specialty in mobile security exploits and already has one in mind for the Sprint G3. He just hasn't had time to explore it further, because he's a busy guy and has had some family illness issues. It sounds like he plans to try and finalize it in a couple of weeks.

By broader I mean it can potentially root a bunch of other phones. No point in releasing it just for Sprint's G3 when he could wait and potentially help a lot more people. Not just LG G3 phones, other manufacturers as well.. so its probably not something specific to LG or Sprint but Android as a whole. Yes, he is a mobile security expert. Its my understanding he is currently in Las Vegas teaching people about how to exploit Android devices.

So i decided to ask LG if we actually do have an unlocked BootLoader and if we did how were we supposed to unlock it and this is what they responded me with....
Dear Carlos,
Thank you for contacting LG Electronics.
Unfortunately in USA models boot loader cannot be unlocked as a carrier request. USA models, even though they look similar to the international modes, have carrier specifications on their software. Due to their request that’s why we are not able to unlock it.
Once again thank you for contacting LG. In case you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at your convenience. Have a wonderful day.

That's true, kuma.. Personally I read for a couple of weeks, over and over all that was needed and how to recover from mistakes.. It helped so much reading all the posts, what works, what doesn't. I'm very greatful to everyone that went before, and the crazy devs for pushing the envelope and figuring things out.
The current unlocking process may be complicated, but it works, if you take time to read(and read again).

I want to unlock SO BADLY but I get stuck after I flash, I don't know what to do ahaha xD
The current unlock method for TMO P769 is so convoluted and it seems rather risky... Risky and destructive enough, I will probably not bother. How likely do you think a decent/proper unlock method will be found before the end of the year? I really dislike the stock UI and limited theming options/etc, came from PACMan on my previous phone and this is rather disappointing for a phone with such solid hardware.
Its looking pretty unlikely and I think I might just sell this phone and go back to Samsung where they tell the carrier where to shove it when they ask for a locked bootloader. Shame on LG for complying with this... Sure, they aren't Apple or Samsung but I think they could have pulled it off. At the very least they could have snuck some hidden method like HTC with the wire trick for S-OFF into the US version.
Where is the up the 4.2.2 update for the US? HTC needs to stop spending money on stupid marketing and develop the 4.2.2 update for ATT. Hurry this change! I think it is time to send a message to HTC on its Facebook page. Start posting and let them know your displeasure.

Yeah some people just want stock AT&T Sense. Anyways, I believe it's AT&T fault for not rolling out the update. HTC leaves it up to the carrier to when they want to release the update. I could be wrong because Tmo and Sprint hasn't released 4.2.2 either. I have a feeling that The Verizon HTC one will be released before we see an update.

Hahaha like it's all HTCs fault... International has it and there is basically no difference between international and AT&T software besides stupid bloat, so go complain to AT&T if you want. I'm sure they'll send the OTA to your phone right there on the spot.

yeah what's up with this? didn't XDA used to require like 50 posts before you could start a thread? this is why we have androidforums.com. regardless, HTC needs to spend more on marketing so that more people will buy their products and ATT will have to prioritize the updating. this delay is not on HTC...it's almost 100% on AT&T. ATT had the HOX JB update for like 3.5 months before they pushed it out to people, and their own customer service isn't even made privy to the status. this is what the purchase of subsidized phones and contracts gets us consumers. if it's REALLY a problem for you, then you're at XDA for the solution. this isn't a place to complain. if you want stock sense, that's fine, I can totally appreciate it, but you dont come to, and sign up for, a Dev website to ***** about the lack of a stock OTA from a carrier known to take (queue Sandlot) FOR-EV-ER to update it's phones.
Interesting. Thank you to everyone for your thoughtful comments. I have rooted a lot of phones and wanted to see why the update was not moving forward. The extra colorful comments are welcomed as well. The only issue with forums is I could be gaining advise from experts or middle school students.

I think the snide replies are rooted in the fact that the basic sentiment of your original post has been stated an overwhelming amount of times on this website, especially with regards to AT&T and HTC issuing an OTA for major - and even minor - software updates. Many folks get tired of coming to this site to read the same thing, hence the increased likelihood of getting a snide reply.
Truthfully, the update probably is moving forward, it's just that AT&T is about as transparent as the Bush administration so we never have any clue where things stand with regards to actual delivery of the updates. Yes, forums is probably going to be hit or miss with regards to quality of advice. But the way you're delivering your comment here makes you seem like you should be in forums, and is probably going to get you some colorful responses from non-middle schoolers.
If you've rooted as much as you claim, you probably know that we almost never know why carrier updates are not moving forward....or if they're moving forward at all. Many come here to find technical solutions and workarounds to that exact ongoing problem, and often get annoyed seeing the same thing posted again and again in each subforum. I think the general assumption here is that many of us are, in fact, frequently posting complaints/concerns/comments on carrier and manufacturer websites, social media pages, forums, etc. We're all on the same boat, or at least many of us.
We welcome rallying for a cause here, but it's possible there's a better way to go about starting a rally for this issue. In the past, folks have posted the actual interactions they've received from customer support reps and techs, feedback responses, etc, and discussions have ensued as to the best ways to get in touch with the companies involved with regards to really displaying the distaste of both the developer and general enthusiast consumer. The AT&T/Rogers/Telus HTC One X forums is a great case study, in particular, the rally around getting the original JB update RUU, source, etc.
I've had a few interactions with HTC and ATT with regards to future updates, but have gotten absolutely zero information from them. Sadly, they mask their lack of sharing as ignorance all too well. Even more sad is that CSRs and technicians are probably not really lying at all when they claim to know nothing about the updates. Again, we're hooked into contract, not to mention that the vast majority of their consumers don't realize the potential benefits of upgrades, and in many cases aren't even aware of their potential existence. That's where we'll probably really see the change, in getting more people familiarized with the beast we are burdened to deal with; not here, but in the general public.

I don't think he was ripping anyone saying he's "owed anything". Just exhibiting frustration on a locked bootloader. I too had hoped Sammy would not have gone this route, and more development would continue. Those of us on VZW should come to expect this now, as they are nazis with the bootloader. Bootloader unlock is not a selling point for me, but it does make it more fun.

It is frustrating for those of us on ME7 not to have an unlocked bootloader, but I for one am grateful for the options we DO have right now... you can still root and use Xposed to customize to your liking or use Safestrap and flash a decent amount of roms. I will keep waiting patiently for someone to find an exploit, but in the meantime just shut up and enjoy what options we're even lucky enough to have. You picked Verizon, did you really expect freedom?

can't wait to watch you get that note 3 and have it be locked down too, if you have verizon, it will be locked down, I don't understand why folks think that the Note 3 will be any different than this phone. Also, if you're sick of waiting do some research and start developing, otherwise take rants like this to a blog and leave the rest of us that _actually_ appreciate the work alone.

To whom is this post directed? If you are mad at the developers, then you are being an asshole. If you're just letting off steam about Verizon's policies, I don't think this is the place to do it.
That said; if you have ME7, try returning it under warranty and see if you can get MDK. That worked for me. Good luck.
First of all, I said Hashcode who is a recognized developer is the only one working at this and I appreciate it. Verizon sucks and developers have ran from working on the bootloader. As far as everything else is concerned I was just saying that I thought we'd be father along by now and my opinion is my opinion don't read it if you don't want to. *UPDATE 9/25*
Ok guys, sbreen94 spent some of his precious time and blindly built a ROM for the AT&T G2 in hopes to give you guys a taste of what would be to come. We had some trouble getting it to boot, so he is going to stop for now since he has other development projects that he can spend his time on.
The only true way for him to work his magic would be to get a device into his hands. As of now we only have CleanROM. That's great for a stock, debloated experience and it definitely serves a purpose. But if you want an experience with a tons more customization, then Hyperdrive will be a great addition to our dev community.
I have added some pics to the OP of the tweaks and customizations from his S4 that you could eventually expect here.

With the recent developments today of obtaining Loki and TWRP, we are a full go for ROM development and flashing. Hopefully this bounty catches steam because Scott would be the perfect dev to get us our first super tweaked and customized ROM. Let's do this!
-----------------------------------------
Hey guys, I promised my good buddy Scott (sbreen94), the dev from the infamous Hyperdrive series of ROM's that I would make a bounty thread for him to try and get a G2 in his hands. For those of you not familiar with him, here is his XDA profile link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4600715
I will quickly start off about why I am doing this. Before I moved to AT&T about two months ago, I was on Verizon and had a S4. The phone was a lagfest and sbreen94's ROM, Hyperdrive, was the only ROM that eliminated the lag on the S4. Between launcher tweaks, build.prop tweaks, etc, he was able to make that phone fly. Not only that, he adds a crazy amount of customization options. His ROM was absolutely second to none on the Verizon S4. I will 100% vouch for the quality of his ROM's and I think he would be an enormous asset to the G2 community. He is a great guy and is always willing to help. When I came to AT&T, I had a S4 for the first two months before I got my G2 last week. Scott and I were testing his ROM to try and port it to AT&T. He spent countless hours sending me test ROM's and AT&T packs. We were super close right before I got the G2.
My goal is to get an AT&T G2 in his hands and I am asking for support here in this thread. I am looking to raise $600 for Scott to get his awesome ROM on this device. And look, I totally understand that the bootloader is in question, as well as custom recovery. I am obviously asking for no money up front and if custom ROM's don't look very promising, then you can definitely go back on your pledge. All I ask is that if you are interested, please make a pledge in this thread and I will keep the tally. If and when we reach $600, you guys can send your pledge to Scott via his PayPal ([email protected]). I am in for the first $50, but I will definitely go up from there if there is a lot of interest and we get close enough to the $600.
To look at examples of his excellent work, here are links to 3 of his ROM's:

S3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106830
Note 10.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294477
Thanks everyone for your time, and let's get this man a G2 to get a killer ROM on our shiny new devices! Please feel free to ask me any questions as I am in frequent contact with Scott. :good:

Someone with more knowledge about that and is closer to those individuals would have to start one. Let's keep this thread for a bounty for sbreen94 please.

Let me chime in real quick. I am very familiar with sbreens hyperdrive ROM. I've had it on my gs3 and my fiances note 10.1. It has all the customizations anyone can ask for and it is incredibly smooth so... When I get paid I will pledge because other than the M.O.A.R ROM hyperdrive is thee most customizable rom you can get and I can understand why this bounty is brought about. Look this guy up he is an elite developer. Yes he is one of the top 5 developers in the past year. Look him up. Good idea OP
Will he be porting this over to VZN G2?
Well frankly speaking, I develop ROM for lg devices only & i'm quiet familiar with their frameworks..
I dont mind making a few for the G2
As well. But first we need to get the BL unlocked.
Consider me in for Custom ROMs as well, though I don't have this device.

Step 1, unlock bootloader step 2, get this guy a G2. If he has a G2 now it is useless until the unlock

I agree, but I wanted to start this thread now to get backers in anticipation for either a bootloader unlock or an exploit so we can start flashing roms.
Please make your pledges guys if you're interested. Like I said in the op, you aren't tied to your pledges if flashing custom roms won't be possible for any reason.
Thanks!

I'm saving up for a g2 (will get it probably this weekend) but I will probably donate like 20-30 dollars

I don't think there'll be an issue as far as getting the bootloader unlocked. the lgog had some awesome devs and this is pretty much the lgog 2..just give it a few weeks and we should be good

With a locked bootloader I dont see the purpose of this bounty yet lol.

We don't need the bootloader unlocked to flash a custom rom. For all we know an exploit could be released today, and at least we would be ahead of the curve by taking pledges for donations.

No, no, no, no lol. Please don't spread that rumor, I have no inside information about that. I was just using that as an example.

All the devs I messaged will not accept a rom development donation at all until the BL is exploited/unlocked, they will however take all the help they can get to buy the device though
Edit: OP I just noticed the title of this thread is for the AT&T model, that might hinder funding here. Correct me if im wrong but doesnt Hyperdrive span across all carriers in the aroma installer? Maybe the title should be changed for all carriers? just a thought
Does it need to have an unlocked bootloader since there's a custom twrp now?
What would be better about having an unlocked bootloader?

Nope, don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash roms, that is what Loki is gonna allow us to do. We are a total green light for flashing roms!
Let's get this man the phone! I promise you won't be disappointed.
