Hi. I am looking for an app whereby I can set alarms based on calendar entries.
At the moment I am having to use multiple apps, and I am still not quite where I need to be.
The problem is I work shifts, but those shifts can change on a daily basis.
Add to that that I use a profile manager to put my phone in silent mode at night so that every email, facebook, text, etc... doesn't keep me and (more importantly) my wife awake. And during calendar events it is set to vibrate.
This necessitates a whitelist for phone numbers obviously.
The problem I have is with reminders. I have apps to configure them and treat them more like alarms with longer ringing etc... If I could configure the profile to change 1/2 an hour before an event, it would help.
Unfortunately, calendar reminders rely on the "media" volume slider, whereas the alarm volume seems to be independent of this. What this means is with the phone in silent, calendar reminders do not sound, but with media turned up many other apps sound at night.
So is there anyway of setting an alarm instead of reminder, or converting reminders to alarms?
Cheers/
The Google Calendar app can do just that.
About the phone calls, maybe you can set times when the calls are blocked?

Your missing the point I think (or I am missing something in Google Calendar)
I don't want to block calls, I want certain numbers to be able to contact me even when the phone is in silent mode (i.e. work when I oversleep!)
The problem with the calendar reminders is that they are aligned with the media volume. If I turn the media volume up in silent mode, then all sorts of other apps that send me notifications will wake me up.
This is why I need to be able to set an alarm, NOT a reminder - as the alarms appear to work independently of the media volume.
I am happy with my call whitelisting ATM, so it is a case of finding an app that
Whitelists reminders
Sets alarms instead of reminders
or Converts reminders.
Regards, Jon.
I know this is an old thread, but there is now an App that does what I wanted when I asked this question.

When I first got my Touch Pro, I thought, "oh neat, when I'm in a meeting, the phone automatically goes into Silent mode." However, I have no idea how or what I did to disable this... Was it a TouchFlo feature? I have that disabled...
On a related note, I also had ActiveSync only download e-mail during work hours, but now that too has been disabled...
Anyone have any ideas?
How would your phone know if you were in a meeting or not?
you have a meeting setup in your calander......
just a guess =)

Heh right...
Outlook knows if I'm in a meeting...
I use this feature all the time while at work. I just put in my scheduled work hours in the calender and set the sounds settings to AUTOMATIC. Now this feature will only change the ringer to vibrate, but does so while in the meeting & back to normal afterwards.
As for e-mails I just send/receive from my phone. I know that there's a setting in Active Sync that will sync them to your phone when connected but I use ThunderBird as my e-mail client. I think that you have to download your e-mails to Outlook first. I don't use MS Office so I'm not sure if there's a setting in Outlook that automatically checks for e-mails.
I hope this is helpful.

Thank you, but where is the Sounds Setting? I don't see anything in Sounds and Notifications for 'Automatic'...
I also was able to figure out how to not download new e-mails when I'm not at work... It's in ActiveSync's settings... There's a little link at the bottom of the Schedule option...
In the tf3d front end you have the slider home, contacts, internet, and all the rest including " Settings". Under settings you have sound, under sounds you can set to automatic (there is a description for the setting).
Its a HTC touch flow feature, not a WM6 setting.
Hope that helps

Ok that's how it got disabled then. I'm not using Touch Flo... Thanks for clearing that up...
Is there any way to set how often data syncs?
I keep background data on generally speaking - but turn off auto-sync. I only want it to sync with the calendar once a day - and want it to check emails once every hour etc.
I can't find anywhere to set the time interval between auto syncs though - and can't find a suitable app for this either?
As I have said I am new to windows mobile, I have just bought the HTC Radar and I must say that I really like this phone it is so smooth and the colours are very vivid anyway there are a few things that I am having problems with so would be so grateful for any help, firstly the sms notification tones are so quiet I have chosen a sound and pushed the volume up key and it says 30/30 but the sound when I receive a text message is quiet I will never hear it when I am out or if its ever in my handbag, another question I have put on the facebook app from the market place it has synced some events but it has not synced any birthdays in my calender how do I get the birthdays to show? the last question is where can I change the syncing times for facebokm twiltter ect in most phones you can choose all apps sync times from every 30 minutes to manually, I can't find this option anywhere, thank you for taking the time to read this....

There is no separate volume for sms tones and no custom sms tones at the moment.
another question I have put on the facebook app from the market place it has synced some events but it has not synced any birthdays in my calender how do I get the birthdays to show?
The birthday calendar syncs via windows live to the calendar on the radar. Once you've set up your facebook account in settings go to calendar --> settings and make sure the Birthday calendar is toggled on. Select a color of your choice and it will alert you 1 day before someone's birthday and show up on the calendar tile.
the last question is where can I change the syncing times for facebokm twiltter ect in most phones you can choose all apps sync times from every 30 minutes to manually, I can't find this option anywhere, thank you for taking the time to read this....
I believe by design it updates every 30 mins. If you're worried about battery turn on battery saver mode in settings and it would then check manually.
Thanks for your help and advice, I have checked my calender and the facebook calender is toggled on but I have just checked all through it and there are none of my friends birthdays in there at all....
BTW....it is Windows PHONE not Windows Mobile.
Couldn't resist being an ass, could u? Geez...

Is there a manual method to change notification sounds? Like a prop edit, or other change? I want to set individual sounds (email, sms, alarm, etc...), but the Sense 3.0 version I'm using only has a single setting for all notification sounds.

most apps with a notification feature will let you set a unique notification sound within their settings menu (I know Gmail, stock SMS, Facebook, G+ and at least my alarm program do this)
Yeah, I got sms and alarms figured, but there's no way to set an email notification sound.

which email app are you using? it's possible with the gmail app, it's just kind of hidden
go to settings --> account settings --> (select the account you want to change, if you only have one account it will be the only one listed) --> labels to notify (at the bottom of the list) --> (select the label you want to set a notification sound for)
I have one personal and two work accounts synced to my phone, with different labels synced for each account, and different notification sounds for each label. honestly...it's maybe more confusing than useful at times ("was that the ringer for my personal priority inbox or my secondary work account's receipts label?") but it's possible.
then again it might not work that way for other email apps, I wouldn't know!
Thanks for that, but I use the stock email app, as I have both a gmail and Comcast account, and I don't want to have to open two different apps to read email.
Sent from my Bad Assed Mobile Fone
aha - in that case, I have no idea.
I suppose you could forward your Comcast emails to your Gmail account if you're really desperate for different sounds, but that might be more of a pain than it's worth too.
So we have
Reminders in Google Now,
Reminders in Google Keep,
Reminders in the Android Calendar App, and
Alarms in the Android Alarm app
They don't sync with each other in any way, so I have a 'wonderful' user experience if I want to cancel an alarm/reminder trying to remember where it was set, right?
And do the Now & Keep reminders even fire if I happen to be offline when they're supposed to remind me? Anyone had them fire when out of coverage of WiFi or cellular data?
