So theoretically, IF I install the Latest NG3 Bootloader and Modem with my PROJECT INFINITY ROM, would I have ALL the newest features offered by the update??? Or do I need to install the WHOLE tar file???...TIA!!!:good:

It will install the full ng3... Most people only update the bootloader and modem until roms are developed using the whole thing.

The correct answer is no. There are framework files still missing until you flash a ROM based off the full tar.

That depends on what features are in the update. Depending on the feature, it may show up in the bootloader, modem or ROM files. So in many cases you would need to flash the full firmware to gain all of the new features.

for the md5 file you need Odin or Mobile Odin, to flash from recovery you will need a flashable ROM as zip (there is a thread in the general section with stock roms as flashable zips).

un-root it after flashing, or download via sammobile.com, flash as primary rom and then swap it to secondary.
thought i'd ask here instead of adding clutter to that thread.
i'm on 4.4.2 (GPe) at the moment.
would i need to flash a newer FTF first or just flash the boot.img from the rom and then wipe/flash?

Has your phone ever been on the .108 firmware version of stock 4.4.4? If not I would say you would need to flash that FTF.

That FTF should work, it is a carrier release numbered 118 everyone else got 108 but I think thy are about equal.
For the dual recovery newest is 2.8.3 from here.

Is there a rooted 5.1.1 rom for Odin anywhere?
Preferably already deodexed.
Thanks

I have a stock rooted ROM here and am working on a deodexed version but I see no benefit/need for creating an Odin version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...l/how-to-update-to-g900tof6-5-1-1-pc-t3141404
just asking . apparently with this root method of using a permissive kernel, the privacy mode is broken. any idea if that can be fixed and keep root?
benefit is that it's everything in a single package. including bootloader, modem etc.. twrp is good for flashing a different rom of the same version but for upgrades it's better to use odin. imho.

Those ROM's flash everything but recovery.
Exactly. And u don't wanna flash recovery after u get a custom recovery on board
I'm using cm 12.1. The nighlies are good enough for a daily driver and I love it compared to touchwiz

Correct, you need a custom kernel to root 5.1 which trips the warranty bit any way you flash it.
I've a little Question.
I want to root my Phone. I've installed latest official Marshmallow update (G925FXXU3DPDP) and don't know what's the way to root. The cf-autoroot from File Chainfire is different from my current Buildnumber.
I saw a Video from "Highonandroid" in that he first flashed the SpaceX Kernel and then the Twrp, does this work?
One more Question: When i flashed Twrp and want to install a 5.1.1 over the Official Marshmallow, do i get a bootloop then?
Sorry for the Questions, but i am new at this and don't want to do anything wrong
Flash twrp as in original android development section. Then flash supersu.zip.
And no 5.1.1 rom on MM booloader.

Doesn't matter if the build numbers aren't exactly the same. As long as your device is g925f zeroltexx the root will work fine.
I have 6.0.1 g925f and i used cf autoroot a few days ago and no issues or errors

Yeah you can use flashify to flash your roms and zips. Make sure you make backups first though of your kernel and recovery. Just incase.
