Enable ALL apps in multi-window - Verizon LG G3

This is not my work but came across it in the Flex forum and thought I would share. This APK does work on the LG G3 and Root is required
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2707310

Great find and works great.

Wait, people have actually gotten this to work on a Verizon G3? Because I haven't. I add one app to the list and reboot, but the list of MW apps doesn't change.
Meanwhile, changing build.prop to enable all apps works perfectly, but navigating that list is a pain.

I got it to work perfectly. I picked the apps I wanted rebooted and they all work.

I edited the build prop and ended up soft bricking. Can I ask you what you used to edited it? I couldn't get Root explorer to do it so I pulled the build prop and edited it with Notepad++. I kind of like the list deal since I really don't want every app that I have available in multi-window.

Ugh, this is maddening! I do the same and absolutely nothing changes. You're rebooting immediately after tapping "Apply", right?
I wish someone would publicize the manual method of doing this. I really don't mind mucking around in filespace.

ROM Toolbox has a foolproof build.prop editor. Which is good, because I could screw it up easily.

Literally I installed it, picked my apps, rebooted right after. Held down back and every app i picked was there...

Are you guys installing this as a system app or as a regular? Does even make a difference?

[MOD]HTCLinkifyDispatcher Fix

Running a Sense 3.6 or 4.0 ROM and tired of not having a choice what app to use?
Sick of Apple and their patent infringement lawsuits?
This script will revert the workaround HTC put in place to comply with the ITC's order to remove the patent infringement.
This script makes a backup of your current build.prop, and then EDITS IT IN PLACE.
What does this mean? It means you can flash THIS file on ANY ICS 3.6 or 4.0 ROM on this phone and it will not mess up any tweaks your specific ROM dev has put in place.
Why is this important? There are a number of build.props edited with this fix (and others)...some of them are from the stock ROM and some are from various other custom ROMs. Simply copying one over your current build.prop could lose you important optimizations, or custom fixes your dev has set up. By flashing this script you keep those customizations and still get the benefit of having your choices back.
Instructions:
To tell if this edit worked for you, check in settings. If the app associations menu option is gone, then it worked.
You will need to clear defaults for specific programs in order to have a choice pop up.
Example:
If you have selected Chrome for your default browser in app associations, you will need to go to menu/settings/apps/downloaded/Chrome/clear defaults.
The next time you tap a URL you will have a choice of which browser to use.

Thanks to iconeo for the original thread found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1693809
Thanks to Steal25 for the actual build.prop edits.
I am including two zip files. The first one will make the build.prop change to allow you to choose your own defaults.
The second one (HTCLinkify-revert.zip) will allow you to put your build.prop back to its default.
There are other build.prop edits out there and I will be creating ROM agnostic flashable zips for those as well.
Please let me know if there are any issues with this flash.
Good idea on packaging it this way it'll make it easy for those that havent made edits to a build.prop yet.
very good!

Right, that was my thought as well. Plus this way if a dev updates the ROM but doesn't add this fix in as a default, it's the easiest way to get it back.

Thanks. That was my whole point: I could see times where people would just copy over random build.prop that already had the tweak, over a ROM with a heavily edited build.prop and mess up everything their ROM Dev was trying to do...and then I thought of the poor devs trying to cope with figuring out random glitches due to build.prop changes and I thought...hey, let's make this easy for EVERYONE.
Now the users don't have to edit it themselves and the devs don't get stuck trying to figure random bugs out without knowing a user may have changed build.prop, or overwritten it.
Win for everyone.

Nope. This mod allows you to choose what app you want to launch when clicking on say a URL. This is the functionality that Apple claimed infringed one of their patents.
It doesn't have anything to do with 3rd party apps, aside from allowing you to decide which one you want to launch, either each time, or by default.

I'm still kind of confused, so was the patent on the "Complete action using" dialog box? I thought that was present in all Androids for years now, and I thought iOS didn't even give you an option.

Yep, that's what it was about. And whether android has been using it forever or not isn't the point. Apple dusted off their patent book and found that it was infringing.

I tried downloading several it just says "Application not installed." I seen a flashable .zip file for the SGS III that has the Noteboox app.. but im afraid to use it, because the update script, binary is for the SGS (not sure if that makes a difference). I've learned not to flash things from other phones. Is it safe for me to flash it?

The apps would need to be modified. The apps call for resources in the stock framework n systemui. You'll have to transfer those resources to the apps them self n change any internal link to the new location of the resources. It's been done but it's allot of work.

Thank you for explaining this. I used the method I described to pull DSP Manager from one ROM and put it in another one. But this is obviously more complicated.
Edit... Mystery gave me an idea and it seems to have worked, pulled apk from gnex zip and installed it.

Adding more apps to multi window

I've seen some hacks for a few of the other samsung phones that let you add other apps to the multi window view instead of just the built in apps. Just wondering if any one has found a way to do that on our mega 6.3 yet?
you need to be on deodexed rom, it will be easy to mod.
Ok, thank you. I'll wait for a deodexed stock rom to show up.
Still waiting for the ClockWorkMod recovery to work, then we'll be in business..
I kind of knew this coming into this phone as the dev community probably wouldn't be as large as the flag ship phones, but the phone has been really good so far with the exception of the headphone volume being very low.

The multi window feature that comes with the phone is limited to some apps. This will allow you to add to the multi windows any app in your phone.
also you can go this way.

I interpreted the post wrong. I thought I could choose either method separately but I believe the post is saying that you have to install both the xposed installer and the multi window manager. Correct xposed allows you to install other things besides multi window mod. Also samsung has app called samsung multi pro or something similar to that. It will allow you to do the same but you have to pay for the app. I personally have no experience with it.

I got mine that working fine , you need only root your phone, install multi window manager from play store, it can let you add any apps you like
Yup, you are right. I tried that app when I first got the phone (after installing the root kernel) and it would keep giving me errors saying i wasn't rooted. I just tried the app again and it works perfectly. Thank you!

ADs..

I have a rooted Galaxy Mega I recently bough, running stock ROM 4.22. I am upgrading from an original Galaxy Tab 7 (rooted and still running Gingerbread.. working like new).
Like on my Galaxy Tab 7 I installed Adaway on the Mega, but, seems I cant get of any ads at all. All apps display ads even the Mega is rooted and Adaway properly configured. Am I do anything wrong or need special configuration or is there a knows inssue about removing ads with this phone? Any other app that works or workaround for the problem?
Aside from this problem, the Mega is a great phone! Extremely happy
Thanks in advance for sharing any advice and input of this

Positively does not work. Installedl and uninstalled several times the app (and several versions) and never works.
.. in fact I hear with stock Samsung ROMs & Android 4.22 there are issues with Busy Box that can cause this.. but I also updated my Busy Box and no fix..

View attachment hosts.zip This is the actual text file, just rename without .zip and copy to /system/etc, making a backup first.

In a way yes, but not completely. You are blocking sites and using a proxy bypasses the site address as everything is server from the proxy IP address.
Adaway webserver would remove the ads and then show the page complete, a bit like Opera Mini.

Dang, I hate when reviewers can't get their stories straight. Oh well I guess. I'm having several issues with the V60. One was AA, but discovered that's "built in" to android 10. I don't like that at all. I'll get used to that I guess. But I'm having an impossible time finding the LG file manager! Like it's there in the app section in settings, but won't show up in searching the phone?!? I hate that files by Google, it isn't finding every file ony SD and how am I supposed to use it if it's not found?!? So confusing. Lol
It's under settings-storage. Has both SD and internal.

No, I'm talking about the actual app that should be in the app drawer. Where I can go and look at every file internal and external. On my G8, it's this. But on V60, I absolutely can not find the "app". When I am trying to restore backups from G8 to V60, it's not finding my backups because there isn't a physical app

I already showed you. Follow the instructions from my first post. If you need further help let me know

Thank you for the help. I see where that is, but in restoring data, it doesn't find my backups. I long long ago bought ES File explorer when I was rooting my devices, I may have to go back to it or an alternative. This is very upsetting as I've stayed with LG for so long (since the G4, but I got a dud V30 so had to go samdung for a couple months til the G8 came). I've never had to use a different file explorer since stopping rooting. ?

I think I saw that one when I was searching for an ad-free file explorer. ES explorer is too bloated now to use. FX is ad supported right?

Es used to have some loose lips when it came to user data as I recall. I used to use them but stopped. Non root root Explorer works too. I fig file commander. Sony uses their app stock on their phones. 5 bucks to unlock lots of features as I recall.

No, I'm talking about the actual app that should be in the app drawer. Where I can go and look at every file internal and external. On my G8, it's this. But on V60, I absolutely can not find the "app". When I am trying to restore backups from G8 to V60, it's not finding my backups because there isn't a physical app

It's not as supported. Has a premium key that unlocks more features

Anyone found this yet? Just read a review that it is available, but doing a search in settings comes back with nothing. Is it there and named something else? I use this feature daily on my G8, so would be really sad if I have to use the work-around (screenshot, edit).

On r/LGV60 there was a post about adding this back in yourself. Sends you to apkmirror. I installed it. The floating bar from apkmirror installed and works fine. However it's missing the app shortcut you are showing from you G8.
I'm wondering if the version on the G8 would work on the V60....

Reading the thread, what carrier are you on?
It's possible your carrier stripped out the floating bar and LG file manager.
You can get back the LG file manager from APK mirror.
Not sure if the floating bar APK would work since there is a bit more to it then just installing it.

I tried this floating bar, modeled after the V30 version.

Seemed to work ok. I didn't keep it because it didn't add much functionality due to my current setup.

Is there a way to pull the program (or whatever it is) from the G8?
