I have rooted my moto E. Installed twrp recovery. Now i want to take backup of stock rom (android 4.4.4). While taking backup from twrp recovery I'm getting error
E: Unable to create folder: /external_sd/TWRP/
errno=13
failed to make backup folder
Please help.
I also got same error while trying to backup in internal sdcard, you sure you are making backup in external?

Hi,
I S-OFF ed my HTC Flyer succesfully today. But there seems to be something wrong on my device, as when I do a full backup of my device CWM cannot access my SD-Card.
Also when I try to install a custom .zip I cannot access the sdcard.
I noted that some new folders have been created on "/mnt/scard", called "ext_sd", with these subdirs:
- clockworkmod
- data
- LOST.dir
this is the only directory I can access using CWM.
Any idea about what went wrong?
Thanks!
Did actually put it on SD card not internal storage... ie you inserted a SD card into your flyer?
Cwm needs editing so we can access internal storage will have a look at it today.

Yes, I have a SD card in my flyer.
Ok, that's where my problems come from now. I also cannot install a custom .zip.
I tried to permanent root it using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193885
It says install went all fine, but SU is not installed, and cannot run apps that need a rooted device (like titanium backup).
--> Is there a way I can reinstall CWM now?
Should it work if I just put the sdcard out of the flyer and then reinstall CWM manually using the fastboot methode? (fastboot flash recovery cwm-4.0.1.4-flyer.img)?
Yes that would work for really flashing cwm then reflash the su zip

What I have done:
- removed SD Card
- rebooted into fastboot
- installed CWM without the SD Card in the Flyer
- rebooted
- deleted "/mnt/scard/ext_sd/ *.*"
The folder "/mnt/scard/ext_sd/" can't be deleted, all files in there have been.
How comes?
- rebooted into CWM
- flashed su.zip (went fine without errors)
- rebooted
--> Device is still not rooted!
Any idea?
I have reflashed CWM, but have still the same problems/symptoms.
--> CWM not able to access the SD-card.
Any idea?
I noticed also that when I try to do a Backup with CWM it says: "SD Card space free: 15262MB", which is not true, as this is the size of the SD Card. On the card there is only about 5 GB free.
When doing a full backup I get these messages:
Backing up data...
No /sdcard/.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage.
Backup up cache...
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
Please help me to get this fixxed.

I know this was a problem with android_secure not being recognized correctly on the Evo 3D. I have a feeling that updates will eventually fix this. Also you don't have an sd-ext yet as of now it is not supported in ay roms for any new device.
Post in the correct thread next time... Q&A.

I flashed cwm 6.0.3.2 to my device samsung galaxy young s6312, stock android 4.1.2 jellybean, rooted, using a tutorial on xda. One of the reasons I flashed it was to create a nandroid backup. But when I try to backup my phone, it backs up boot image, recovery, system, and then it begins backing up data. After some time I got an error, "error while creating backup image of /data". Also when I rebooted my device after this, I saw that my external sd card (where the backup was getting stored) was totally full. So is this a problem with my storage?? Do I need more free space to create a nandroid backup?? Btw, I have 2 GB free memory on my external sd card. Plz guide me... Thanks...

hmmm ur sdcard partition may be corrupted then
do u have mount/extsd option in cwm?
if u have this option try mount extsd if this doesn't help too,u must unfortunately flash stock rom
What format is the card in? Some CWM versions might not like certain formatting. Have you checked on the thread for CWM for your device to see if others have issues mounting their SD card? Are you able to mount the SD card via PC with other readers? Might need to either try a different version of the recovery if available or to reformat the card via PC (make sure you backup stuff to the PC first as it will wipe everything).
Hello.
After a successful backup of Android 4.2 and a failed flash of Android 4.4, I am unable to see the contents of my micro SD card from within TWRP 2.7.0.0. So, I am unable to restore my backup.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Flash your stock BOOT.IMG with Sp Flash Tool , then restart TWRP and restore your backup
Thanks, I did something like that in the end and it fixed my problem.
Hi
Whenever I try to make a full backup of my mobile phone, I end up around 35% with an error message.
I have the Linage 15.1 latest update and TWRP 3.2.3-0
Attached to recovery.log
Can someone tell me what error this is or what is really going on?
Thank you

Hi
After this time, I still have the same problem, same error, despite having done what you said.
As you can see in the log file.

i am not expert about reading logs, but i can see that you selected external sd card but for some reason twrp backups to /media/0 (which is internal storage)
I:Backup folder set to '/data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/ZY223WG8KL' I: DataManager::SetBackupFolder zip path was /external_sd changing to /sdcard, /external_sd I:Settings storage is '/data/media/0' I: Decrypt adopted storage starting IageManager::LoadFileToBuffer loading filename: '/data/system/storage.xml' directly I:successfully loaded storage.xml Updating partition details... I: Data backup size is 11848MB, free: 9629MB.
can you install older builds of twrp or moving some files from internal storage to your sd card?
i might be wrong about that but as i said i am not expert about reading them

I installed an earlier version of TWRP 3.2.2.0 and the same error occurs.
I have no problem copying and moving files between the internal storage of the mobile phone and the internal SD of the mobile phone. Not so much also between an External SD (OTG) and the mobile phone.
I even tried to backup to TWRP through this same SD by OTG and the error is the same
The attached log files, both the internal sd in the mobile phone and by OTG

i said move some files to your sd card because backup needs 11 gb free but your internal storage has 9 gb free. my guess is twrp makes backup on your internal storage and then moves the backup to wherever you choose(or maybe it needs that space for caching the files or someting)
