What is the filename and path for the S5 phone apk? I want to theme my friends phone apk for him.
Also, how are you guys getting rid of S=Finder from the pulldown?
i think all the apk files should list under system/app folder and to get rid of S-Finder from pulldown, just install Xposed G-Touchwiz.
You didn't give us enough information to really know what you want.
There are several phone packages e.g. the dialer and the in call screen
/system/priv-app/SecTeleService.apk
/system/priv-app/InCallUI.apk
For S-Finder, you didn't tell us if you meant removing it from the user defined set of Quick Notification toggles.. or permanently remove it. Or if you meant the quick search window. Lots of threads on all of those, so a forum search is always the best place to go first.

First - Let me start by saying I did a search of black notification bar and didn't really find anything specific to the vibrant. Actually I did find when using the search but still confused. Initially I was just uing the auto fill pop up for information.
Second - Instead of posting in Q&A, I figured it would be better posted here since it's a theme/app. Moderator please move if appropriate. Thanks.
Third - This is strictly for Stock JL5 deodexed.
With that out of the way...
The black/sort of transparent bar is driving me crazy. I'd like for the notification bar to be just straight black. Initially, I was running NeroV3.0 and liked how the notification bar was completely black. But, I just wasn't digging the gingerbread theme. So, I borrowed some of Sombonix's pngs and just copied them to my framework. That was a completely disaster. Man, am I glad I made backups.
Can any of you themer gurus help me out?
what's the name of the png file that is the notification bar? I am on my way home as we speak so I can help as much as I can from there.
I thought this is all I would have to replace but was I sorely mistaken.
statusbar_background.9.png
I am by no means a themer, but I have modified my notification bar, basically all I did was find the notification bar I wanted and used adb push to copy over the framework-res.apk from the desired source to system\framework whilst in cwm.
What all PNGs should I be modifying? There's so many in there that has to do with status bar that I'm getting lost. Also, although I'm running launcherpro, do I need to modify both the framework and twframework?
Yes there's three folder u should be looking at. One is ib the framework-res.apk. the other two are In the twframework.apk. there's 2 seperate folders u need to look into.. I believe one is hdpi, the other might be hdpi-4.. u must change all status bar png. Although I could be wrong because different roms place their png in diffrent folders.. and have a different set up...
Thanks for the tip. Looks like I'll be doing a lot of stare and compare tonight.
Yeay! I did it. Thanks for everyones help with your suggestions. Here is what I ended up doing.
1. Copied my framework and twframework from my phone on to my PC.
2. As a test, took this status bar from here: http://www.devsforandroid.com/forum/index.php?threads/axura-skins-and-themes.39/ (Thanks junkdruggler and Master).
3. Did a search of *status*.
4. Copied *status* to the appropriate places on my framework and twframework.
5. Created a zip.
6. Flashed zip via CWM.
I think one problem is I tried just copying the framework and twframework over and the OS doesn't like me doing that while it's running.
So, I'm trying to figure out how to theme Android. Currently, there's some really overdone glossy/gawdy themes out for my device, and I want to bring something back more elegant.
I'm not looking to do anything insane, what I really want to try doing to start with is just changing the notification icons that appear in the status bar, for starters, like the GMail, missed call, messaging, and the signal/wifi/bt stuff (not yet interseted in changing the battery indicator).
What am I looking to edit? My understanding is that I can replace the image files with the same name as what I want to replace with, and then resign the framework apk as well as resigning the zip. Am I totally off?
dont know any stuff yet which allows u to change ur notification bar view or somethin... but i've tried a good interactive live wallpaper available in market place which make ur notifixation bubbles n show on ur homescreen.... u shud try if the case is for making somethin interestin in ur device......

Don't resign anything in the system folder. Well there are some exceptions. Also you will only be able to change the stock apps icons as 3rd party have their own built into the apk
Hey there everyone, I am wanting to edit my framework to get a better looking notification bar. I have an android phone called SH7218U, I am rooted with all Gapps.
If you look this up phone on Google, you will see that the notification bar and icons are very similar to stock Android 2.2 ( I am running 2.2.1). The only difference is that the signal bar is located to the left of the bar as well as some icons getting set there as well. You can really see this here: http://www.itechnews.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Sharp-SH7218U-Clamshell-Android-Phone.jpg
When going into root explorer and checking out system/framework I am see the familiar framework-res.apk file, but I also see an apk file called dianxinos-res.apk. It seesm to be able to mess with framework and change the UI and other things, both of these files need to be edited. This is just a guess though since I have been able to find a post on a Chinese forum that gives a new notification bar (the only difference being the battery icon replaced with a numerical battery representation and the (when bar is pulled down) shortcut to the useless built-in task killer is gone. Inside of the package to this new framework I get both framework and dianxinos files so it seems I would have to replace both of the old files with the new ones.
As you can see in the above image there are virtual android buttons on the bottom of the screen as well, for when you want to use the phone normally. I do not think that the dianxinos-res.apk is linked to the virtual buttons as exploring system/media/pics contain.bmp images of the virtual buttons and I have confirmation by another SH7218U user that editing these images will directly effect how they are displayed.
I was just wondering anyone know how to edit the framework when there are two files corresponding to this. I don't know much about editing the framework but even so I am quick to learn but figured I would just ask around before I do anything. Worst comes to worst, like a bootloop for instance, I have a system.img for my phone so flashing that with fastboot will get my phone working again.
Anyway, Ive uploaded both files in case anyone would like to look at them. I am trying to go for a gingerbread-esque notification bar with blue instead of green possibly.
If anyone thinks this thread would get better hits elsewhere I would appreciate any input.
Hi, I believe I read that with ICS, Google made it possible to remove carrier and phone producer apps. I have been through the settings but can't seem to find where to do so. Can someone help me?
Also, how do you remove eg. the contacts or messages icon? Before the update it was no problem to replace the custom SMS icon with another app, but it seems impossible now.

go to PLAYMARKET and get ICONCHANGER (RootUser) and you can download icons from the APPandTHEMES or you can create them on pgn format ! its so f. easy
I think you misunderstand, I want to replace the stock SMS app shortcut with a shortcut to the Go SMS app. But thanks anyway

Edit: I found out, I remembered it incorrectly and it's just going to apps, edit -> drag icon down to the touchwiz bar.
I love the notification toggles... but hate the fact that Samsung forgot to put in any method to customize these!!
So instead, I'd like to use one of many apps in the Market to give me notification toggles (Wigetsoid or Notification Toggle in the Play Store comes to mind). That way I can customize them exactly as I like...
BUT... the original touchwiz will still be there.
Is there a simple method to remove that bar, such as perhaps removing an APK, or editing a non-compiled config file somewhere?
I'm currently rooted using Blazer's ROM (1.6), and I'd rather not suggest for him to remove it from the ROM as I'm sure there are a lot of people perfectly happy with the way it is.
If anyone has an easy method to remove it, please speak up
