I used it in Sweden. No problem.
All of us with unlocked bootloaders have used it as it's the only way to unlock the bootloader
the way they tell you to unlock i didnt do but either way you need to go there to get your unlock code
i used flashtool, not adb oem unlock
It works in India too, I got my Unlocking code, Now I can flash Custom Roms without any error

Hi,
What exactly does a unlocked bootloader do except load custom kernels?
Does it mean that I can SIM-Unlock my two X10 Mini-phones?
If not, is there any cheap way to unlock the X10 Mini?
Cheers!
An unlocked bootloader only "allows" you to load fully customizable kernels and roms onto the phone. Devs can also port other OS and functions if needs be (theoretically). An unlock bootloader by itself does nothing. A dev will have to then make use of the unlocked bootloader
The x10 bootloader unlock method does not unlock network. You will need to do this separately
I believe also that there's a cheap way to unlock using Setools. Do a search via google to find different sites. Hopefully someone can provide a link to one that they know and trust.

You can remove the SIM lock with setools but I think you need an "unlock box" (equipment) for that. You can also just do it with cable and software from XperiaUnlocked for the Xperia x10 Mini
hello,
Sorry for my bad English but im from Bavaria
I had a question... I have bought a Sony ericsson Xperia from Austria and now it has a Sim-Lock! Where can i Unlock the Phone? Please give me a instruction how i can do that
Thanks
Wurmii
Do you plan on unlocking the bootloader? If so, you will probably either need to get it unlocked by your provider or through a place that has access to a tool like setool.
If you don't then there are a few other options around to unlock it via the USB cable. I myself used Davinci Team.
At the moment there are no free sim unlocks around.
You can unlock it simply using the unlock code..........To get the Unlock code,You can reach here Mobile-unlocker.com get the code and Unlock it...you need to specify the network it locked now.....
Hi friends,
Before buying this cute smartphone, I want to know if we have solutions to unsimlock the Xperia S.
Thank you all
if you have option, buy unlocked one
why?
1) phone is locked so no other network
2)unlocking phone would be very expensive since is new so £30-40 + wait to people work out how to (price in highstreet)
3)instatly lose warranty - (test point)
4) locked bootloader no fun on xda
-no fastboot
-no unlocked botlooader
-no xrecovery
-no custom rom
-no root
- long wait for update.
- i am not sure whether unlock simlock = unlocked bootloader.

Currently there is no free Sim Unlock in the DEV section. Best check next time before asking
The phone has been out around 3 weeks, might be a while before a solution can be found.
I have checked more than you can imagine that's why I have asked to know if there is a solution because I didn't find it
Docomo unlocked at purchase for $39 USD
Sent from my SO-02D using xda premium
I won my Xperia S in a competition from Three UK.
I'm on Orange and have my contract to pay so I asked Three for an unlock code. They've had to speak to Sony because even Three don't have a code yet.
I paid £15 on 9th March and I'm still waiting for an unlock, just want to use my beautiful Xperia

Are you sure?
A network locked phone cannot be root and no unlocked bootloader?
my X10 was locked and I could root it easily and flash other official roms (different baseband).
Then I sim-unlocked it before flashing custom roms, so I don't know if I am able to do that with a locked phone though.

Just got my Xperia unlocked officially from Three UK. So it works on any network however all the Three integration is still there and after checking the bootloader status I am unable to unlock the bootloader as of now.
So although it's unlocked to any network, it's still kinda locked with regards to the bootloader and rooting.

Have you flashed an un-brand firmware? (there is a way to flash another official rom without rooting/unlocking) Maybe it would be bootloader unlock-able after that...? (i really not sure about this)
But there should be a way to root the phone without bootloader unlocked soon or later anyway (just like the others)
and i know that the X10 can be bootloader unlock even with simlock (although the method came out quite late...)
it's just a matter of time, shouldn't be the end of the world

I've not flashed any new firmware as of yet because I'm not confident in what I'm doing haha. I'm not rushing to find anything, but would like to root at some stage. And if I can unlock the bootloader I would
IMEI UNLOCK Sony Xperia S
Hi,
I planing to buy a Sony Xperia S and IMEI unlock it...Maybe this is a stupid question but if I buy the Xperia S new, is it possible it comes already with blocked counter? or every Xperia S comes with 5 to 10 attempts? and if it comes with factory blocked counter, is it still possible to remove simlock? Would it be to expensive? I really need to know this in order to know if I buy the Xperia S or not. Sorry if it is a dumb question but I was an iOS user 'til now. Sorry if I post this in the wrong thread.
Thank you!!
Hello, I just bought a Z2 (D6503) that is never locked (SIM free), boot loader unlocked allowed YES but it has Vodafone firmware on it (Germany). Where do I get an EU generic firmware and how do I flash it?
Unfortunately Z2 is just released and there aren't any tutorials so that's why I'm asking you. Can I take the files from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666849 and use this tool: http://www.flashtool.net/download.php to do it? Do I need to unlock the boot loader first? I would rather not do it if possible (yet).
Thank you.

I had the same situation I went to the guy, he took off me simlock and unlock the bootloader unlocked this way
Only removing SIM-lock is not enough.
Depending on when your phone is manufactured, it may be possible. Check the manufacturing date, it is under the battery. If it is before 12W11 (year 2012, week 11), then it is possible. Otherwise, no.
There is 11W36. Do you know some tutorial for unlock this "unlockable bootloader" ?
isn't it dangerous? does it work?
I did it via wotanserver, but it's not free.
No homemade way??
