After rooting my Z2 tablet, and installing SuperSU, and editing Platform.XML to allow writing to the SD card, I attempted to install a few apps to move apps to the SD card. Although all were given super user privileges, none of them worked.
"All-In App2SD" gave me an error. "DS Super App2SD Lite" gave me a list to select from and it gave me an error telling me to make sure I am rooted and something else I couldn't read because it immediately opened the app info for every app selected which I had to manually go through.I tried "Root # Data2SD card." doesn't seem to do anything. I tried to create a storage to mount (which is a weird approach), but it won't go any further. I tried installing "Auto App2SD (Move)", but it wouldn't even install. Google Play says there is insufficient space - when I have more than 20 GB free internal and more than 90 GB free external. I tried "AppMGR III" and it opens all the App Info screens as well, but this one gave me a message telling me to use a move to phone option, but none exists.
So is the tablet unable to use App2SD? Or am I doing something wrong?

I use "SD Kitkat Fixer" and "FolderMount" from Play Store and have no issues to move app data to SD card.

Unfortunately, for some reason, some apps give me the error "Insufficient Storage Available" from within the Play Store and both of those apps give me that error. (Clearing cache, a call to google, reset device, etc doesn't resolve the issue, and it's strangely specific to apps related to rooting.)
However, I was able to manually edit the Platform.XML folder (which is all apps like that seem to do anyway) and I have mount /system.

Does any1 know how to fix this? Please!!!

Unmount the SD, install then re-mount it.
I know about the mounting/unmounting thing, but people have had success by deleting the smdl2tmp1.asec file in the "android_secure" folder on the sd card. I have not been able to find this particular file in that folder (connected phone to pc, and found all other .asec files, but not this one).
Has anyone had any success with this? or are there any other solutions for us besides unmounting?
adb install app.apk worked for me with guerilla bob game
im not sure how to unmount sdcard and install
hope this.helps
For some reason some apps won't update properly.
First go to:
Menu->Settings->Applications->Manage Applications
find the app and tap on the name. Then select the "Move to phone" button
Now hit the back button until you are at the main settings menu and then select SD Card & phone and tap on "Unmount SD Card"
Go back and mount your SD Card (same sub-menu).
Now update your app in the market. You can move it back to the SD Card when you are done updating if you wish.
That may work, except, I have uninstalled those programs (e.g Angry Birds) and reinstalled them from the market (after unmounting my SD card), which works, but now when trying to move them to the SD card, it says that it cannot....
This whole thing is getting rather frustrating, and it seems like there should be a deeper fix for this, instead of the hassle of unmounting, them mounting

You need to contact Google or the app devs then because this issue exists on multiple phones across multiple versions of Android.
"Error while downloading "(appname)". There is insufficent space on this device."
I seem to have gotten this infamous Market problem on my phone.
Every time I try to install or update an app, I'm met with this problem.
I've deleted the Market data, unmounted and remounted the SD card, deleted updates to the Market, restarted the device and I still get the same problem, even though I have enough space on my device.
I also would rather have an option that doesn't involve me factory resetting my phone.
Can anyone help? I'm on Froyo right now, if that helps.
I'm also using the new market (3.0.27), but it happens regardless.
do you move apps to your sdcard?

Yeah, all the ones I can move to SD I have done.
Though, I still have space on the SD card too.
Had the same problem with Star Chart app.
After I cleaned > 100M from internal memory, I still was not able to install this app from the Market. Ended up downloading apk from the internet (I'd already paid for it) and installing it manually. So it seems like a problem with the Market..
There was a fix program, even on market. I think it was called market Fix. It basicaly puts market cache folder to sd card and links to it. Thats it.
Hi,
I did a backup using Titanium Backup and Go Backup and after wiping my Motorola Defy, tried to restore apps, contacts etc.
The problems I encountered were:
1) Go Backup can't recognize backup directory on SD card for some reason.
2) Can't move apps to SD. An error occurs: "Move Application: Failed to move application. There is not enough storage left." Needless to say, I have more than enough storage.
This is was I encountered by far, although I believe these are just a small part of the symptoms for a single problem.
Maybe its because there are no permissions, or moving apps is impossible because of an existing app files on the SD card.
Does anyone know what is the actual cause for this?
Or is there a tool to fix the permissions on the Defy?
Thanks ahead!

I have no partitions on my SD card
No, I mean the internal memory of the device.

Does it has to do with the moving app to the SD card?
And it seems I do have a little space for apps, but how should I check it anyway?
The easiest way is to run Link2SD -> menu -> Storage Info
This will show all the mounted partitions, and space used/free.

Internal: 103mb used, 25mb free
SD: 8.71gb used, 6.12gb free
SD 2nd: not found
System: 178mb used, 148mb free
Cache: 16.29mb used, 177mb free
No idea?
I tried that:
1) Deleted the GO Backup directory
2) Removed the app
3) Re-installed the app
4) Copied back the backup from my PC
I could then see use the backup, but I still can't move apps to SD
Something must be jamming it
Can it be something with the mounts?
I haven't used Go Backup, so I have no experience with it, but it does seem that it's somehow involved/responsible. I noticed they have an update as of yesterday, so you can see if it makes any difference.
Have you tried putting your SD card into your computer? Does it function normally? Can you run a disk check on the card from your computer?

The problem is not with GoBackup, as it works now.
The problem must be with something jamming access to the SD card.
I tried to run a check from my PC and I get "No problems found"
And now, for some reason the phone activity crashes after I terminate a call
Well, all the applications I installed where installed using Titanium Backup.
While trying to install from Play Store, the device crashes.
It uses CM 7.2.
So it might be a permission problem in the device itself.
When i first bought the GN2 I also bought a 64GB SD card so I could put all the apps I wanted on the phone not realizing (until it was too late!) that I can't get apps to load on the SD card. Now, every time I try installing another app (wireless tether or GL to SD so I CAN move some apps) I keep getting an error message "Insufficient Space- please uninstall some apps for more space." I have tried uninstalling everything I am not using on a daily basis. I have used Root Explorer to delete empty folders in internal memory. Now I cannot install anything, not even apps to help. What do I need to uninstall to make this thing work again???
Verizon GN2, SCH-I605, rooted, bootloader unlocked, stock rom.

You can use an SD swap script if you are rooted.
You cannot add apps to the SD. Either use the swap script or use titanium backup, make a backup, and uninstall app.
If you are having issues installing apps when there are memory, readd you google acct/play acct. That fixed it for me when i could install some play store apps.
Hello, I've recently moved on from iOS and embraced android with the Sony Xperia Z2. I've unlocked the boot loader and successfully rooted the device and everything is A-OKAY. However, no matter what I do, I cannot install APK's to the SD card at all. When I switch installer default location to SD card, everytime, I receive the error "Cannot Install XXX Because there is no free space". When I revert to internal, everything works. I'm not sure whether what I'm trying to do is possible, if so please inform me. Anyways, here are the steps I've completed already (all of which did nothing, I'm afraid).
1. Installed and Used, SDFIX from GPlay store (Success message)
2. Edited platform.xml in systems/permissions/ to include new permissions (no change what soever)
3. Formatted the SD card, there and back again, from fat32 to exfat (no change whatsoever)
Apologies for the long message but I am truly at my wits end. All I want to naturally install apps directly on my SD card. I'm new to the world of Android so please be patient.
Edit: Currently attempting the Foldermount option
Try xposed installer and xposed module handle external storage
It alows read and write to your external sdcard
This may possibly solve your problem
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Google disabled sd card write permission for third party apps like foldermount..
You already rooted phone great! Now use this app its very simple to do https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix
Once you got it install link2sd and you are ready to go
