Hi everyone. I know download speeds on mobile devices are slower than normal desktop download speeds and have always been. But on my HTC One I feel as if my download speeds have been slower than they used to be. For instance, on the Play Store, installing a 12 MB app would take about 3-4 seconds. But now, it takes 10 or even more. I'm running Stock HTC Sense 6, no root. I have noticed this months ago but never really tried checking it out. Anyone else have this?

Saw this on ppcgeeks, I was wondering what xda users' speeds were (rev a or not) on their titan...
www.dslreports.com/mspeed (1mb test)
1603k
opera mini
rev a. update
titan, sprint leaked rom
chicago (NW suburbs)
anywhere from 200k to 1200k
in ie
but, i can't seem to run the test again through opera mini, says to fast/unstable, do i need to clear some cache from opera? so many of these tests seem so off, like running from ie vs opera..
can anyone recommend good websites for testing from the phone (non flash) for accurate results?
I did the 1 meg test for the dcd's titan rom 2.0.0 on my Verizon Titan w/Rev A 3.27.00 Radio ROM
911 kbit/sec - 985 kbit/sec
0.293s to 0.198s latency
9.228s to 8.445s d/l time
I am getting 900k or better on a regular basis, same test site. I cant use speedtest.net for whatever reason cause the phone wont load properly.
If anyone is using other speed test sites, let me know.
I get 200 to 900 on Alltell in Springfield Missouri on the stock ROM. My results are all over the board. It bounces up and down plus or minus 300 kbits from one second to the next in the same physical spot. I check it often since it was my reason for switching to Alltel. It seems strange that it supposedly fluctuates so greatly from one second to the next as Im standing still.
Harrisburg, PA
First Run
837kbit/sec
0.837s latency
10.401s download time
Second Run
874bikt/sec
0.994s latency
10.014s download time
I'm getting around 900k, but those damned lacked of video drivers really kill the fun of EVDO when trying to use web browsers.

I don't know too much about the lack of drivers; but what does the lack of drivers do to hinder the phone / web browsing?
On Telus, using Opera in my building with ****ty reception, 1039 kbit/sec.
0.329s latency
8.129s d/l time.
That is on a1jatt's custom Telus rom on the latest radio 3.27.00
Wow, a restest shows:
1996 kbit/sec.
0.22 latency
4.323s d/l time.
I'm in Ottawa, Ontario.
800-1100kbps
I used the mspeed a couple times but I prefer speakeasy.

You'll need flash
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer_pocketpc/downloads/player.html
I cant BELIEVE I had forgotten about reinstalling Flash7
thx

Puts a lot of stress on the CPU to have to both load and render the pages. You see the same effect on a PC if you have no video drivers installed.
There's a non-Java test at www.mobilespeedtest.com. With ROM version 2.09 and only PIE running, I got top EVDO speeds around 955kbps when testing five times in a row, with an average of about 865k when throwing out the one-time 245k result.
i'm in greensboro NC highest i've got around here is 12xx something
Bought my Rezound last night and noticed slight lag in text messenging.
I ran some speed tests to check things out.
I'm getting blazing fast download speeds, like 30mb on 4g and where my PC is getting 16mb on a WiFi connect my Rezound is pulling closer to 20mb sitting right next to it.
However, using the same WiFi connect my PC pulls 9mb upload speeds and my Rezound is either puttering around the 1-2 mb range or barely finishes the test at around 0.
Same with 4g connection, and I'm using speedtest.net aswell as Speakeasy just to make sure.
Also tested is my droid incredible. Consisent with the laptop I get around 15 mb download speeds with 8 or 9 mb upload. Rezound results around 19 to 20 down and .6 mb upload.
I exchanged the phone for a brand new one today and am having the same issues.
It does not make sense and I was wondering if anyone here has any similar experiences or could give me an idea to what the issue is.
Thanks
Nope. Getting the best upload speeds then every device I've ever owned.
KORM via the beast known as the Rezound.
I have not had that issue myself. You can look at a ton of speedtest screenshots in this thread:

I don't recall anyone mentioning that issue though.
Hi guys,
I've got a question for you, my fellow Flyer users.
Recently I got a new Modem/Router from my ISP.
I installed everything and it all works without a hick up.
After the installation I tested the internet speed using the Speedtest.net site.
On both my Windows laptops an my wives Macbook the speed was excellent, about 40 Mbps download and 2.5 Mbps upload and a 15 ms ping.
Same on the Ipad 3 we have.
However, on my HTC Flyer I only get between 5 and 10 Mbps download but I do get 2.5 upload but the ping is nearly 100 ms.
Does anyone have a clue what the problem could be or what app I can best use to see whats up. I now think the Flyer only connects in WiFi B mode instead of G or N. And it has been doing this all the time. I used to think the browser was slow but I now think this might be the problem. Is there any way to change this forcefully?
The router is a Cisco EPC3925 and I use WPA2 TKIP-AES security. It's on channel 1, 40 Mhz wide (wide channel 5) and in 2.4 Ghz mode ...not 5 Ghz.
Hope you can help.
Cheers,
Martijn
Try to use channel 11....strange enough this helped me in the past when I had several problems with my wi-fi network. Otherwise you could try this....go to the wi- fi settings on you flyer, choose Advanced and then choose the first option.
Tried channel 11 and it doesn't make a difference.
Connection speed also varies alot.
My laptops and the Ipad have good speed everywhere in the house.
But the HTC only in the proximity (< 4m.) of the router. And even then it is still way slower than the other devices. If I move further from the router the speed collapses.
Best I get is about 28Mbps while the others get around 38 and up to 52 Mbps.
Shame, I had a higher expectations of the Flyer.
Next I will put my old Belkin N router in the network as access point and see what happens.
First time I ever heard anyone complain about 20Mbs. you sure you got those numbers right? Most of use don't have a ISP that can even approach that. So you will get little sympathy. Anyway ping should only be between your router and the external IP, so whats up with that? Speedtest.net is a poor way to measure device performance since there are so many factors in between. Use a local lan speed test or you might just be measuring browser speed and nothing to do with the hardware.
I've seen a similar behavior some time ago.
Here is what I've got:
Speedtest on my desktop gives me about 20-25M
I turn my Flyer on, run the test, I get 4-6M.
I turn Airplane mode on, turn it off, test the speed. I get 20-25M.
I'm guessing throughput got something to do with the sleep mode.
Hi all,
First of, I'm talking about Mbps (Mega bits per second) NOT MBs (Mega Bytes per second). Huge difference there.
And 20 Mbps is of course a good speed, but its unsteady and way slower than the other devices.
As I wrote before my Ipad and laptops never go below 35 Mbps and I'm lucky if I get the Flyer over 20 Mbps. With my ISP promissing about 50 Mbps thats a big difference.
So I'm just dissapointed with the performance of the Flyer which I thought to be a top of the line tablet.
So thats why I placed the thread. I tried the air plane mode thing and different channels, taking into account which are busy around me. But stil slower than the rest and alot of different readings between messurments. Even using my ISP speedtest app, even then same result.
But judging by the lack of respons I gather I am the only one. Pity I hoped for a solution.
Any thanks for taking the time to help me.
cheers
I have 12 mbs internet at my house. When I connect with my phone and run a speed test I get around 6 mbs. At the very same time with my computer I get 11 mbs. I have best wifi performance checked. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks too.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Ive heard people report that best wifi performance is a battery hog and doesnt help..
also is your using speedtest.net app try to select different locations for it. I have 3 servers in Dallas that i can choose from, and occasionally 1 of them gives me slower then normal readings.
Hi there,
So I'm on crDroid, and have been for a while, it's a great ROM, does everything I need, and works great without root. I have noticed my 4g and WiFi seem a bit slow though, I can be sat right next to my router, and get less than 1mb/s, when my net is capable of 10mb/s. Now, I don't have another WiFi device to test this properly.
I have also noticed that my 4g is pretty slow too, now that's probably just down to my network, but I can only get like 5mb/s max when I'm outside with full signal.
Are there any ROM's people would suggest for the best signal quality? Both WiFi and mobile data. I'm not a fan of MIUI, as its aggressive battery management and app killing just wasn't what I was used to, used custom ROM's on my phones for the longest time!
I don't use root, so being able to pass safety net and use banking apps etc is a must.
Thanks,
donk165
Scrap that, seems my speedtest app was bugged out, the speeds seem better now, managed to get 10mb/s at work inside a building on 4g, and on the work Wifi, im getting 100mb/s up and down. crDroid is fine
How is this crdroid for gaming? Do you play any games?
