[Q] Any updates with rooting ND7? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Just looking to root the most current OTA, my search so far makes me believe its not possible. Is this true or am I missing something?
Thnak you!

I'm wondering the same thing. I recently had to get a replacement phone and unfortunately it's running stock 4.4.2. First time I've ever had a phone with a bootloader that couldn't be unlocked. I would like to at least have my phone rooted. Anyone out there willing to share a root solution with us?

Yeah it really sucks. I need root to fully make use of my chromecast. A bunch of devices received screen mirroring but not the note 2. Such a sinple thing but so difficult to root. Hope we can get root soon. Thank you to anyone who is still working on this.

Hi akim14,
sorry for not being able to answer your questions, but where did you buy the phone? On most sites I searched for it, it is still pre-order only.

I actually bought one but received it and could not hear any sound when someone called in.
I sent the phone back to China and I am waiting for a new unit.
I have this phone but cannot find anything on how to root it, anyone know how ?
Or if there is a update as it is running 4.1.2 ?
Thanks in advance

yes I would also be very interested, I just got my Newman nm890 android 4.1.2 and it has difficulty picking up a cell signal where my other cell phone gets a couple of bars. I am having difficulty with rooting it. I have been waiting for the 4.2 to be available but different from the sales ad, it does not seem to be readily coming. The previous reovery.img with the QR is it 4.1.2 or 4.2.1. It looks like the nm890 is popular.

[Q] So, Did I look before leaping....NO!

I really wish that I did not do that update today!
Don't know what I was thinking other then WoW this may be Lollypop!
Now I don't have root access anymore and Stump will not work.
Been looking everywhere for a solution but, since it is so new can't seem to find anything.
Does anyone know if there is a solution to getting root back after this update?
Thanks.

Guess you just missed this.

Even if it was Lollipop, it would still have broken root....
Sorry for your loss, hope you can get it back sometime. I had a friend experience the same with S4 OTA.
Thanks. Me too!
Any way to get the firmware update link so we can update too?

[Q] root android 5.0.1

Will CF auto root would it be able to root android 5.0.1. I really do not care about the Samsung knots being trigger my phone is already out of warranty. I just have insurance if it gets stolen or I drop it in water. Or should I wait until they find a root method without triggering Samsung knots. I read about triangle away but like I said at this point I can careless if it gets trigger. What are you guys opinion?

As of now, if you took the OTA and did not preserve root, there is no root method available. Also, "Knox"
..

No root for OC1 unless you took the neutered tar through odin or used a ROM from @gigilie or another dev .

Thank you. I was did preserve root. for lollipop but what happen I let my nephew play on my phone and he ran safestrap and i was stuck in a bootloop. I couldn't get it out no matter what. I was in the bootloader OC1. I was one of the guys that help Muniz achieve root for everyone. We were having Wifi issues but i told him i would upgrade my bootloader to help if it would fix it. but it was the kernel. So i needed to used samsung kies to get my back up. So thats how I lost root. But thank you for your help.

Fyi...... @dgutierrez04 was the guy that pulled the OC1 ota update for me when no one else could due to the two part 5.0 update. He also took one for the team during testing of the OC1, Stock Rooted ROM so many of you enjoy today by updating his bootloader to OC1.
I assume he has no backup phone.
That said, it seems a lot of people have to use Kies... as Odin reports fails...
I did not root my I545 verizon so now I have lollipop oc1. My question is should I not take the next upgrade for lollipop or at this point does it make a difference as far as getting root?
Thoughts are more than welcome

No I do not have a backup phone. But hey that's how we learn. I will do it again for the community if I can capture again the update and test it for everyone I would. I am a te player. I wish I could built roms but I'm not that smart lol.

I suggest is to wait and hope they can find a root method and try to avoid future updates as off right now. That's what I would suggest you doing as for me I will be doing the same.

Neither am I(smart enough for a ROM build). As much as I love Unix, it isn't a full time playground. Still loving Visual Basic and batch...

[Q] Updated to Lollipop.. bad idea.. Is there a root available?

Mistakes were made but a lesson was deff. learned.
Just started reading up on rooting and the benefits seem great, especially on this Verizon phone.
I'm wondering if there's currently a root available (guessing not or this forum would be all over it.)
Has any site/user from here stated someone working on one? Would be awesome to know.
New to rooting, hope to become more familiar, any insight would be cool! Thanks
If you take the OC1 update there is no root for it.
However if you have root there are ways post on here to keep it and get OC1.
Search the forums and read up on your options.

Yeah I took the update... Does that mean I'll never be able to root... ever, or I just have to wait for a root to come out for the version?
Was not rooted before this.
Currently there is no way to root. There's no way to know if anyone will find a way to do it or to downgrade in order to. I'm sure some are working on it, but you just have to wait to see what happens.

Unfortunately this device will likely be locked just like the J327T.
I have been watching that thread and everything that has been tried is pretty much what I attempted to explain would be a waste of time.
The combination firmware is useless to gain root on nougat.
No auto root is ever gonna work either and neither is Flashfire or SuperSU.
There is a list of reasons why these things won't work, but I'll not waste my time in that thread explaining why.
I don't mind explaining further why here. Just so others will not waste efforts like on the J327T thread.
I'll let that thread run its course until all avenues have reached their inevitable dead ends.
They are harsh words, but unfortunately they are truth.
Suffice to say that the only real way for this device to see root is either an unlocked bootloader (highly unlikely), a proper engineering binary or an exploit is released for Android 7.
If an exploit is found then Kingroot will almost certainly incorporate it in their Software and then there maybe a chance that the combination binary (not the whole firmware) will help get root.
If anyone can confirm for sure this device doesn't have a locked bootloader then I'd be happy to work on it.

Yes there is a fairly easy way.
Also you need to read my posts in that thread you linked.
I have requested several times for it to be closed.
Nothing in that thread will work.
Again it comes down to people who don't understand what they are posting.
It's not me being negative, these things just don't work. If you want me to go in to detail for why then I can explain.

No, do bother going into detail, i prolly wouldnt understand.
If/When you work on either the J327T or J727T, i'm here to test....
BTW Chimera is saying them can root both devices. Before i think of putting up the money, what are your thoughts? At that point i might be rooted but no recovery
J727T/1 Recovery/Root (SS SafeStrap)???
Would this work?
Or be a good place to start, building off it???
IF I remember right, it was used for the S4 or S5 att, with same issue. It would set up recovery after bootloader, or something like that. I'm no noon, but not a senior either.
Just a suggestion??
Would be great if someone could implement it to work??
What u think?
