[Q] apps for editing Google camera focus effect - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've been looking but can't seem to find any apps to edit the focus effect from Google camera (except the camera app itself). I found these two open source projects that work in chrome:
https://github.com/panrafal/depthy
https://github.com/spite/android-lens-blur-depth-extractor
How come there are no apps that do something similar?

It does, and it works quite well. Tnx for the link.
Too bad it doest support google camera. It would be nice software to fine tune the generated depth map that comes straight from you camera with.

I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726553
If a standalone app will be released, it will probably show up there...

Search the market for camera advance. There's a free and paid version. Also adds the ability to take a picture with the volume buttons.
I would prefer a stock app as it has the ability to use the fromt camera.
I found this apk in navalynts cherry pi dev thread:

same here, it force closes after using whatever camera app (I used stock camera and Camera 360, both resulted to FCs). I'm suspecting that it's a ROM compatibility issue. Haven't tried it yet. I'm on MotoGinger II.
Anyone else having same problems on other ROMs?
it worked like charm for me
currently on GB 2.3.6 CM 7.1

Also it takes an absolute age to use the Explore mode, search mode, or view another persons profile

Simple Banking app for Android

If you don't already know them, here is a link: Simple
They are a small start up bank that is all online and relies on the app to function. Well they finally released it for android Here. But alas, it is not "compatible" with the DNA. I pulled it using APK Downloader and installed it manually, it seems to work just fine. I haven't set up an account yet, but the app seems to function.
As a new card holder, I can now officially report that the app works as intended. After some conversations with Simple Tech support, the reason this was withheld from the DNA was scaling issues with the highres display, but I have yet to see any issue. This is a very cool bank.
Edit: Update on functionality.

I can't post the APK because of size restrictions and I don't have a host. But here is a link to the APK Downloader Chrome extension that I used. Pretty simple and straight forward.

Dude this saved me a load of frustration. Thanks!
Works on my HTC G2 and Nexus 7.
It looks like the DNA is now officially supported! The Simple app is now available for the DNA in the Play Store.

[Q] Text Expansion on Android?

I'm thinking of developing a proper text expansion app for Android, and am wondering if there would be much of a market for this. The app would
- work with any keyboard
- sync with TextExpander/Breevy over Dropbox
- require root access
The only way to get proper text expansion at the moment is to use a specific keyboard, and the keyboards that exist don't offer syncing.
So...would you want this?

Android Text Expand for Bluetooth Keyboards
Hi,
I just found your post, maybe the blueduino hotkeys app is an interesting option for you

There are some text expansion capabilities that are already part of the standard android soft keyboard.
I personnally prefer to use an external keyboard if i seriously want to write something since the soft keyboard
is not a good option.
I wrote an app to have text expansion for android devices, blueduino hotkeys. Its available at the play store.
There is also beta programme at blueduino dot com if you want to try it out, tell me what you think about it! =)

Question Xperia 1 III and LAPD compile

I read an article about the LAPD Hidden Spy Camera Detection using Smartphone Time-of-Flight Sensors (official webiste) and find the related GitHub project so my question is: someone on Xda may have the knowledge to compile a working app for the Xperia 1 III? May it work on it? Thanks

Can you give the specific name of the app, or the direct link for the app in the play store, or a screenshot of the app in the play store
Searching for "hidden camera" in the play store comes up with many generic results and none of them seem to use the ToF sensor, which is what we are looking for.
