Hi
a few weeks ago I had the battery drain issue caused by the Google Play services.
Uninstalled the update, stopped it.
Due the fact I always got the yellow triangle with the explemation mark I was sick and tired of it and contacted the helpdesk at Sony.
Their solution, whipe & rstart..
So done that, and indeed, for a week or 2 the battery drain was gone, but last week it started again.. overnight 20 to 30% battery down...
So, looked up some info abt a new ROM te be installed. (had this done on my old Samsung S3 as on Iphone 4S)
I found this how to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVyROuDCAcc
I unlocked root access, got a preinstallation of 4.1.2. (till half way the clip), didn't do a factory wipe, format phone etc,
but phone worked again ok, battery drain was gone, but with android 4.1.2 is back to the old ages, I decided to complete the whole clip & execute it (after backup data) to proceed with factory whipe, cache wipe , whipe davik cache etc..
Then I suppose to install zip.. (In first step I copied the generic file (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/stock-rom-xperia-z-c6603-10-5-0-230-t2785946) onto phone internal storage (made to be sure also a copy onto the SD card). )) but I cannot find the ZIP file back on the phone nor on SDcard...
phone restarted and now it just plain stuck on the sony screen and that's it..
I tried again via flashtool to flash phone, but at a certain point you need to replug the USB connection again, but whatever I do, flashtool is not detecting this action.......
Anybody any idea to solve this?
Or did I messed up big time on this one?
thx
Regards
Didier
Flash a full firmware using flashtool.
We've all had this issue before. You may get away with just kernel.
Also you do realise that your in the Z2 forum, Do you have a Z2 or Z?
@rowlers
in the picture i see a Z1, this is a odd thread isnt it?
and note to OP, please do not crossflash anything
this means using a rom or custom kernel for Z1 on a Z2 for example, or and other devices for that matter
HI
Thx for the info
Yes it's indeed an experia Z , couldn't find the Z treat on forum (isn't it archieved?)
Got it solved last night, was able to get the sony via volume down, power button and flashtool finally saw the device and i was able to get the generic installed on it..
Many thanks anyway.
regards
Didier

So i have tried Jit enabler v2 and bricked my SE
it freezes at Sony Ericsson logo,
what i can do is boot via xrecovery and since there i dont know how to remove Jit enabler,
Any advice?
Depending on what version of firmware you have, you need to download : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902974
and install as update.zip "*10* 2.0.A.0.*** Disable JIT.zip". That should help. If not, clear dalvik cache and reboot.
thanks, but how to put it to SD card because since its bircked i cant properly connect the phone so PC would read its SD card?

I suppose that You don't have any card reader :/
I don't really remember if ADB works in xRecovery mode, but You can try, to unpack the "disable jit" package, and push manually files to "/system/bin", and "system/lib". The build.prop should not be a problem tho. You can do that with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868423 but, as I said, I'm not sure about working ADB in xRecovery. I figure You don't have enough time to push files on "Sony Ericsson" logo, cuz it reboots ;/
Just try.
thanks for helping out!
unfortunetly i have a reader, and only remembered after i did via xrecovery full reset (wipe data). BUT it still didnt booted, froze uppon sony ericsson logo, so im now moving files you gave a link and praying xrecovery still works
You moved to fast with wipe
I don't really know what to say to You right now.
but seems there is xrecovery backup, so in case...i think maybe i can reinstall via update service, than restore backup i made before wiping data out and installing jit disabler. Well thats by my logic should work. But im not really expierienced with phones and dont have x10 for a long time...
Unfortunately that I think is the last thing it's left to do. Just repair the phone via SEUS. I don't want to be a ****, but it's a bitter lesson for You, that if You have xRecovery, and ADB enabled theres always a way to get passed "Sony Ericsson logo reboot". Wipe was just to fast thinking. Hope You don't get in a trouble like that ever.
Yea, i tried too long time ago JiT v2 and i also bricked my phone, i also installed by accident wrong firmware ver JiT v1 and ended up, again, with a brick.
I that case, only solution to it is to Reflash whole firmware again. Trust me, i tried all possible solutions and it didnt worked. Luckily i had my contacts backed up on my g account.
I also learned my lesion hard way, and, this is 100% true.. "If you have xRec be sure to always have a backup."
P.S. Dont worry, mini/pro dont die that easily.. Its just get hardly wounded, it will always recover, but sometimes with memory loss (since u didnt had a backup)
When i first time bricked my phone it was a day old, i freaked out, but manage to get a grip and searched forum a bit. Since i like experimenting with my software i manager to brick my phone 10+ times per day..
And.. guess what phone im using now? x10 mini
Well, yea often flashes are not a big problem, but i don't wish that to anybody, cuz as you said, and all know it's a pain in the ass to get back settings, and all the data.
"Bricking" is defiantly to strong word. Boot loops, or hanging on SE logo is far from bricking, we always have a chance to "repair" our devices by ourself, so no problem here. The real problem can be in the future, when boot loader get fully cracked, and for example we interrupt his flashing process - situation well known for other android phones users. Phone gets bricked, and theres **** we can do about it, cuz recovery is obviously not working.
I did learned something else back then (5 years ago) when flashing my phone with with a desktop PC and suddenly power failure.. bricked my phone which not even got any bootloader to start with. Since that moment I always use my laptop to flash my phone as it has battery to continue the flashing process in case power failure happen again.

Amen to that.
Hi guys, I've had a look around for this, but I can only find the solution for bootloaders that are unlocked. I suspect my Ray WASN'T unlocked. I accepted the OTA 2.3.4 update, thinking it would be fine. But the phone now shows the exclamation mark. I can get into both the recovery and fastboot modes (green/blue LED).
None of the recovery solutions are working for me. Is there a way for me to fix this, or will the phone have to go to a Sony Ericsson shop.
The official PC software from SE won't restore it either.
it is wise to go to sony shop , they will fix it
Not sure if this will solve your problem, but it solved mine:
The problem was with the bootloader. So I tried FlashTool_0.2.9.1_FOTAUnbrick which brings a small firmware information to reset the bootloader.
The problem I was having was to be able to correctly connect the phone to the flash tool. My phone's USB connection was constantly going up and down. So I decided to uninstall all the tools and drivers and install them from scratch.
In short, here's what I did.
Installed Update_Service_Setup-2.11.10.7.exe from sony ericcsson in order to get the USB drivers to work.
Followed the instructions of the Update_Service and flashed the latest update available for my phone (2.3.4). This didn't solve the startup problem, just installed the latest update.
I ran the Update_Service again and restarted the process has if I was going to flash again, but after the Update_Service detected the phone I canceled the installation. (I did this just to make sure the phone was connected in FlashBoot)
Then I installed FlashTool_0.2.9.1_FOTAUnbrick.exe, opened the folder of the application and ran X10FlashTool.exe
Hit Flash button and the program opens a Firmware Selection window with a preloaded firmware with two reseting contents (loader.sin, preset.ta). Hit OK button and waited until the program indicated the flash process was finished. The process of flashing takes a few minutes and we need to be patient. It might even seem like it's doing nothing but we just have to wait.
After finishing the flash process the program invited me to disconnect the phone and turn it on. I did so and the phone took probably a minute or so to startup. At first I thought it didn't solve the problem, because it was taking so long to start, but it did solve! So I waited patiently and the Sony Ericsson logo showed up giving me a new hope. After that I had to wait another 4 or 5 minutes for the phone to finish applying the new firmware mentioned in point 2. (There's no visual information of the conclusion process so you might wonder the phone might have hung.) Just waited and everything got back to normal with the benefits of the new firmware 2.3.4 (instead of the previous 2.3.3).
I hope it helps someone having the same issue.

Might not fall under warranty.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568792, check my tutorial, there is a guide to unbricking.
Hello everyone and thank you for your time in advance.
First of all, I'm relatively new to the Android OS so forgive me for any mistakes I make describing my problem. I'll try to give as many details as I can, mostly steps I took that I believe that might have led me to my problem, but please feel free to ask anything if you think it could help.
TL;DR version: My problem is this: I'm stuck in the Google Account signing in screen. The phone is requesting me to "Slide keyboard open to continue" while I don't have any keyboard and there is no box on the screen where I would press and the digital keyboard would appear.
So, I have a Sony Xperia X10 mini (i guess its short name is x10i?). A year or more ago I firstly rooted my phone, used xRecovery to flash Cyanogen Mod on it. I'm sure I had the 2.3 Gingerbread version of it. My first "problem" is that when I first looked into the rom's settings (CM Settings) it had many options with the HTC abr in front of it. I didn't tweak most of the options that had that HTC tag on them, only those concerning the keyboard. When I tried to type, it showed different versions of a keyboard on screen, but it always showed a keyboard up. Keep this in mind.
Now, 2 months ago, a friend of mine did something to his android (a galaxy one, cant remember which) and he said the applications were running smoother. He is kinda more informed about Androids than I am so I trusted him and we tried to do the same thing to my phone. It was about Fixing Permissions or something. I deleted the cache he told me through xRecovery (after I backed up ofc) and then booted the phone, only to find my settings and user data lost. The backup I made that day was possibly not complete or something, because when I tried to restore it, it failed and so I lost my SMS/contacts etc. I restored a much older back up and it DID work but I decided to run the most recent one anyway.
From that day on, my phone somehow decided to return all calls as busy. Whenever someone called me, it gave them the busy message and after a while I got a message that they called me. Sometimes for a single call (or irrelevant to calling SMS they sent at another time) I recieved many exact same SMSes. I put up with this situation for a while and tonight I decided to reset my phone and get a new mod in it, or even refresh the same - I didn't really care. So I exported my contact list which was all I cared to save to a file in my sd card (which file I backed up) and tried to see if my xRecovery worked, because my friend told me that it all may have to do with it being corrupt or something.
The result is that I couldn't even get to the Recovery. Not with pressing the power button, choosing to reboot from recovery. Not even with the power button and back button pressed, or repeatedly pressed. Then, I decided I just wanted to reset the phone so I foolishly thought of a factory reset so I could reroot if needed and do the process from scratch. I chose the option, it rebooted. After the Sony Ericsson logo though the Cyanogen Mod logo started to load, which made me wonder why since I thought it would just load the firmware it had when I bought it. And then it started with the press the Android to begin (after the PIN request) and now I'm stuck in the google account set up.
Please help me out, I apologize for the wall of text. It would certainly be fine with me to somehow reset the phone to the state it was when I bought it using SEUS or something like that. I tried doing that tbh, but then all this firmware came up and I didn't know which one to choose plus I can't find a working link to download SEUS, PC Companion etc. Otherwise just please help me out with the rom i used and how to fix this keyboard problem cause I'm thinking the rom wasn't good for my x10mini. Also is there any way to see my sd card's contents via USB with the state my phone is in?
You can skip the google-account setup in the setup wizard ( I think there's three buttons below each other, just press the bottom one and it will guide you through the wizard without actually having to type something
A factory reset just resets all values to factory (or custom ROM) values and deletes all user-data (except the stuff on your sd-card), it won't restore the original ROM.
If you want to start over, do a repair with SEUS (SUS nowadays) of PC Companion, which will give you stock 2.1 back, after which you can go through root etc. again to get your current ROM back..
Or you can give me a pm and i'll provide you with stock firmware which can be flashed using flashtool.. I assume you are still on the stock kernel, ie, you haven't unlocked your bootloader?
ps: the x10 mini is the E10(i or a) or Robyn, the x10 (the big one) is the X10(i or a)
Thread moved. Please post all questions here in Q&A in future.
Thanks
AvRS
I got a new xperia active st17i yesterday, it was on gingerbread fw.
I used flashtool to unlock the bootloader. I reset the phone but it hung on the sony logo, which was odd. (I have unlocked and flashed around a dozen xperias and this has never happened). I pulled the battery and turned it back on and it boot looped on the sony logo. (left it for several minutes to be sure). Every time it was switched on after that the screen powered on but remained blank.
I flashed the Rage kernel for GB. Turned the phone on and the sony logo came up, went bright, and I got into CWM recovery ;0) all good I thought. I rebooted the phone. It started up, the sony logo came up, went bright, the animation started but then crashed/hung. I left if for a few minutes and nothing, so I pulled the battery. After this, no screen function at all, no back light, completely dead. ;0( When I power on the phone it vibrates and after a few seconds the front led flashes blue and goes out.
Fast boot works, Flash mode works, Flash tool lets me lock and unlock the phone, flash kernels (rage/X-kernel and Lupus) and ftf firmwares ... S1 tool sees my phone, pc companion updates the phone perfectly, but still no screen.
I read the other ST17i bricked threads here and looked at trying the Wotan server method but the phones date code is not covered, its newer than the ones Wotan cover (maybe an issue?).
I have not idea right now, apart from I have hard bricked it somehow. (searching for 'st17i dead screen' gives a few results from Sony's service forum with similar sounding phone activity, with no resolutions). Searching for bricked st17i all relate to soft bricked devices.
As the phone is brand new, I am not sure about the bootloader issue, is it still covered by warranty? The phones current state is locked and fully updated via pc companion, as it was out of the box.
Any advice and help will be greatly appreciated!
Fixed!!! ... (see edit)
I started from 100% scratch. I use an old laptop with winxp to do all my phone work. I did a factory reset on it (begrudgingly) and reinstalled everything*. ADB, flashtool, drivers/kernels etc. (Its now working a lot better I have noticed).
Bear in mind my phones state was factory stock ics 4.1.B.0.587 and locked.
I unlocked the phones bootloader in flastool, it turned on?! Resurrected.
I flashed the ics rage kernel and installed a custom rom, backed up x2 ;0) I AM HAPPY :0D
I honestly tried everything methodically beforehand, hence my post!
*Is it possible to install a corrupt zip? I noticed when downloading files that some were showing as downloaded but were not the correct file size. I only noticed this when grabbing a kernel file, its size was around 6.7mb but the file I had on my desktop was 633kb, it unpacked and came up with the correct size of 6.7mb? (downloaded on my main work laptop with windows 8.1). I had so many bits and pieces on my xp laptop, swapping files from usb pens etc I will assume this could have been my issue!
lol... I must have spent near to 6+ hours reading about tespoint method flashing, TA restoring/backup up, and a whole range of other bricked device issues... I am educated a little bit more now, in more ways heheh...
Update....
The phone worked for about 30 minutes and then a blank screen again. No CWM, because of blank screen. Had fastboot and flashmode still.
So from scratch again, I relocked and flashed with original ftf CE (I have two CE ftf's of different sizes (will need to do homework on these)). The phone was still dead? When plugged into my pc (tried all three USB ports), sometimes when in fastboot/flashmode the device keeps connecting/disconnecting randomly, which is definitely wrong. Possibly my problem is a bad port or maybe the micro usb cable, or loose connection somewhere? Irdk? So now I tried a brand new sony, original, cable and all seems fine again. So, used flashtool to unlock, flash kernel, get to CWM, use my backup and the phone is working again.... but for how long? There's definitely an issue with the ftf files (mabye something to do with my corrupt file size problem? Will go to another place to grab these from and if the phone goes off again will try). odd.

The phone is now running okay. I had a dud battery, which I was using/swapping between several phones that I was returning to stock. It was showing 100% charged but upon disconnecting USB the phone died. Took me the best part of two days to figure that one out... I know! (I'm very busy). So it was possibly the bad battery all along!
Hello,
Got my hands on this puppy. It isn't mine, just wanted to help aunt little daughter.
When entering some apk like Shazam (settings works tho & some new installed apks like easy backup turned on -yet after time resulted in same error) or You name it the unit freeze itself which results in a picture brick phone (can't rly kill the process or browse it anymore).
The only way to turn it off is by pressing every button at same time.
Her phone was factory reset & it didn't help with the problem. The issue went back.
So I thought that, the only solution is to install clean rom (stock rom) & find out if it helps.
Otherwise it's hardware right..
Help?
This is an big problem, but I am like you. I want a rom for my xperia e5 but no one makes it. One man made it, but it has problems (I am using it, fast but battery dies) and TWRP gives random errors. So, you should go to technical service. No chance, I can't help you I am so bad cuz I didn't buy another phone (lol the other phone has 3 gb ram)
