I went to download the revolution rom at http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...m-android-revolution-hd-52-0-android-t1797334
The question is,is it possible to overclock/underclock? do i need other kernel for clocking to happen? did under/overclocking stuff comes with the rom.
Flash different kernal like boeffla download the boeffla config app from website in there you can underclock or over clock as well but here's a warning clocking is dangerous don't go above 1600

I am running sinmply honey 3.8 revolution rom in my vibrant. But I do not like the overclock thing in the kernal. Can someone underclock it to 1Ghz and post.
Thanx.
By default it's not overclocked past 1GHz..it's up to users if they want to overclock further.
So there is no need for you to flash another kernel.
i looked under system info in Quadrant standard. It said 1.
2...so I thought its 1.2...Didn't know it's 1.0Ghz by deflection......thanx for the reply...
So I have heard that the original kernel of Froyo (2.6.32.9 if I'm right) was not clockable. Well, the kernel seems to have got an update in the Gingerbread version (2.6.35.10 if I'm correct) and there is no more touch screen bug so it eliminates the need to put a custom touch lag-fixed kernel on it. The question is, can you overclock the stock Gingerbread kernel (2.6.35.10 if I'm correct)?
i dont think so. however, you can give it a try using the "no frills" app from the android market
OC must be supported by "more" provided frequencies in kernel. This isnt the case in ALL
android stock kernels - even on HTC and Samsung there isnt overclocking supported by stock kernels.
To use a OC app you need a kernel with OC capabilities.
That's exactly what I am asking. Is the official Gingerbread original kernel (2.6.35.10) overclockable or not? Froyo one (2.6.32.9) was not I guess.
I am currently running Resurrection Remix ics v1.7 with thoravukk kernal 2.48. I am looking to update to Resurrection Remix ics v1.8.1. I also want to flash the latest thoravukk kernal and the tablet mod as well. After i install v1.8.1 should i install the kernal first then mod or the other way around. I also have my phone undervolted so do i need to set the voltage back to the orginal settings as well?
normally Kernel can be flashed either before or after flashing the MOD, no difference.
still better to ask the dev of the MOD, whether the MOD required a specific Kernel first or not?.
Your undervolt setting will be automaticaly reset when you flash the Kernel, no problem you can set it again after flashing the Kernel.
I have to overclock speeds over my phone I want.
Is only able to custom rom?
uhmmmmm i no understand.....lol
but NO its not the Rom its the kernel that allows OC/UV
So if want OverClock, Kernel Flash on phone that support. must Root
( i tried to type that so you would understand it )
Good luck bruh.
indeed flash a custom kernel you have. (sounds a bit like Yoda..)
In short - if you need to ask, then you shouldn't be doing it. You need to read up otherwise you'll come back in the future, saying you've fried your phone.
Like the others said though, you need a custom kernel that supports overclocking.
I wouldn't bother, it's a fast enough phone without the need to overclock it.
Flash a kernel that you can overclock like for instance Siyah kernel. Don`t overdo it though, 1600 Mhz is more than enough to get good performance and keep good battery life. Read the dev`s thread before you overclock to gather info and xperiences from other users.
To me he sounds like he wants 2 clocks on his phone. You need to add dual clock widget
Hi,
Yes, like said above you need a custom kernel wich allow overclocking... but you also need an app for set your CPU freq as you want... if I remember right even with a custom kernel, the CPU freq is the stock CPU freq after flashing (I mean no kernel with directly a 1.6 Ghz CPU freq, it's to the user to set the CPU freq).
Francisco's kernel has its own application, gokhanmoral's kernel has Extweaks, simone201's kernel has also an app, etc...
Or you can use a "generic" app like SetCpu, System Tuner, CPU Master, No frills, etc, etc...
Before flashing a new kernel read, read and read the dev section and the different method of flash, the different kernel threads...
Hello XDAers, I tried searching for this question all over XDA but found none with a relevant answer so had to post this
The problem is while gaming, the CPU automatically throttles down to 800 MHz, Even if the phone is not that heated up. Now I acknowledge that sammy based roms and stock kernels have the throttling as a safety feature, so I flashed the latest custom Siyah kernel, and also tried wiping and flashing AOKP Jellybean 4.2.2 Rom, then all over again installed Modern Combat 4 and monitored the CPU frequency with ROM toolbox, But again the same 800 MHz throttle occured. So I concluded that it is the kernel's responsibility for CPU/GPU throttle. Now switched back to sammy JB Rom with previous Siyah kernel.
Is there Any manual way of disabling this feature? Like editing a system file or something? It is really annoying and I could not find a really helpful answer so far
ROM - Stock Samsung odexed Jellybean 4.1.2 XXLS8
Kernel - Siyah v6.05b
