Use ext4 its is best for you. @Mondop

Well that not entirely true since the moto x, g and I think the moto e all use f2fs for the /data partition.

Hmm I just figured since they used f2fs in the moto x and g that they would have also used it in the moto e as well.

ok

when ever I wipe my data on moto e its shows updating partition to ext4. so I guess it uses ext4 for all partition.

I don't think it matters much, no one has complained of the performance.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App

[q] ext4 question?

Hi! I just want to know what is the EXT4 that is saying in most of the ROMS like "homebase", "Aura" and etc.? And what is the EXT4 CONVERTER With fauxs kernel that is in the homebase additional downloads? Does the ROM that you choose automatically convert your filesystem to EXT4? thanks

You have three questions lets make them numerical..
1.) http://bit.ly/rjxoTd
2.) converts filesystem to ext4
3.) no. unless it says it does, then yes.

They are Linux file systems. You can find a lot of info on them. Here's a starting point.

For the purposes of small systems like the Atrix, not much gain for ext4. Ext4 gives you some additional features that make sense for larger files (GB), something more than the 300-800MB partitions on the Atrix.
It's kind of like the comparison between FAT32 and NTFS. Both are old and crappy, but still in use due to legacy.
Cheers!

partition sdcard to ext4

I am having little problem here. I partitioned my sdcard with cwm with 1gb ext4 partition and 256mb of swap partition. it said done succesfully.but when i crosschecked in minitool partition wizard it showd partition as ext3. now when link2sd asks me which partition it is then what should i do. i want to use as ext4 bcz i read that it is the best among ext2 3 4 (tell me if its not). also pls tell is swap space useful for xperia neo?are there any imrovements of performance with this swap partition? kind of confused here..

Just use mini tool partition wizard to create the partition.
Not sure which is the "best" to use.
I use ext 2 because thats all the x10 kernels was able to handle and i have never had any problems.
I have never used swap, but from what i have read its not a good idea...
default ext4 have journaling feature and it will shorten the life of the sdcard will die more quickly but datas become more safety
ext4 without journaling feature better than ext2
as you can check yourself

What was the default filesystem on Data when you first got your Moto E?

Was the original filesystem Ext4 or F2FS on the Moto E's Data partition?
Also does it support any other filesystems?
Its been too long I don't remember.

F2FS is the original file system of data partition. System and cache partition filesystem is Ext4.

I have a really bad memory, I was doing a ton of trouble shooting to figure out why I couldn't switch it back to Ext4.
Almost bricked the thing doing a bunch of tests, though I learned alot about the recovery process. >_>
All because I couldn't remember the original filesystem was F2FS on data.
Thank you. xD
If I remember, is ext4.
