[8-11-2014] Project Unity - Release 3 [ AROMA ][ LINARO ][ CM-11 ] - Nexus 5 Android Development

Project Unity
** For Google Nexus 5 **
Development Release Notes...
Thread CLOSED. Builds are all broken, no updates EVER. No chance of being fixed.

A. you HAVE TO link your source, legally and according to xda rules.
B. this is not an original rom, and does not go into the n5 original development section. this is cm, not your own personal development.
C. you dont even thank the people who develop the rom, very disrespectful.
D. and there is a legal reason why gapps arent included in custom roms, lkegally you are not allowed to include them if you are distributing your rom. which is what you are doing. for personal use, its allowed, but when you are sharing your rom with the gapps, that is against the law since you do not have a license.

a cm based rom doesnt belong in original dev, its cm, no matter what you did to it. you using a different developed rom is still not your work, it belongs in n5 android development. and credit needs to go in the op as well, not just in the rom. in the rom itself, credit isnt even needed.

That's interesting.

Yeah this thread will be closed and links will be removed. Sorry dude. You have to exclude gapps for a starter.
Good luck. Cheers ?

Gapps aren't included for the same reason with CM because Google told them to take it out. And unless code optimizations come from you it is essentially a kanging of someone else's work...which is fine when you give credit. But make sure you respect everyone, and the GPL. If the kernel is custom (not the one included with CM), make sure to include a link in OP to kernel on git with your sources and commits.

I have removed Gapps ok. My bad. I got it figured out, switched toolchains, and some other cleanup. Now this is totally legit I think

I will have the new ROM uploaded sometime tomorrow with a separated Aroma Gapps. If I can still at least do that.

So...how the things are going on here???

i was informed by an xda mod gapps can be included
There is nothing wrong with including gapps..it is only the official CM team that got a C&D from Google...it is not enforced by XDA anyway.

Anyone know anything about Linaro? I could sure use some help to get it to do kernel optimizations and stuff. Just have had no luck in my attempts.

I'm Not sure... First Reboot? Did you flash gapps? Dirty or Clean? I need more details to attempt to fix the issue. I'd like a recovery log, and the Aroma log as well, That way I have everything I need to get this corrected ASAP

I'm not sure, I might be missing something. I think I need to find the vendor files or something

Could you point me to an aosp ROM for s2 which supports this feature?

so many 'not so unique' ROMs.
I know you wanted to share yours in good wills but some way it seems unnecessary to me until it really becomes something unique in some way to the least. At least from the screens it does not seem so. This forum is already crowded with so many such 'efforts'. It makes the decision so difficult.
Dont know if its good or bad, just giving my opinions. Please no hurt feelings, please.

[ROM][CM11][Hammerhead] OpenPDroid-patched CyanogenMod 11 builds for the Nexus 5

title is self explanatory. I'll share my builds in case others are interested.

THREAD DEPRECATED!
EDIT:
information in the edit below is not longer current. please see:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52664423&postcount=5
EDIT:
additional information as requested by moderator:
this is just a build of master branch cyanogenmod for hammerhead patched with the latest openpdroid patches as available on openpdroid's github (https://github.com/OpenPDroid/OpenPDroidPatches). not a single line of code was changed, as the source level patches still apply without errors.
it used to be the case that auto-patcher could smali-patch binary android builds. now auto-patcher has gone unmaintained and smali patches no longer apply on recent builds of cyanogenmod.
many people are not willing to build from source and are abandoning openpdroid. i will continue to use it on kit-kat at least. these are my builds and are shared here as a convenience for hammerhead users who do not want to build their own OS. no changes were introduced. source code is available on the respective project githubs.
NOTE: uploads are in progress, please check later.

Dude,
OP's built CM11 from source with the added OpenPDroid patches. The ROM that he's linked to us is just CM11 with OpenPDroid.
Your question should be: "Does CM11 allow you to select different runtimes?".
The answer to that question is: "Yes, this option is located under 'Developer Options'.".
If you next question is: "How do I access 'Developer Options'?", then look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcFVRDZ5Z9Q.

Dude,
last time we had informations about pdroid, it was "not compatible with art"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47902311&postcount=3796
As we don't know if it's because of the smali patching process or anything else,
I asked to know if a rom build with openpdroid included in the source was Art compatible.
And if I ask about Art, likerly I know how to use it (it switched since 4.4 was released ... )
Anyway, I'm done with CM, I switched to Omni this week-end after my phone became unusable, corruption of system data

Great to have someone building CM11 with openpdroid! Can't thank you enough!!!
Just one question:
Which kernel works best with this CM11? Any bad experiences?
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5 mit Tapatalk 2
new build!
EDIT: this build is now based on android 4.4.4. remember to UPDATE YOUR GAPPS, or else...
sorry for the delay. i took off to europe to try out something with someone i met last year... it was a good bet that didnt work
but im back!!!
this build includes the custom home screen grid size selection that was merged into master recently, and so the old cherry pick slash hack (http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/62281/) is gone for good.
NOTE: the update WILL NOT import your home screens beyond the upper left 4x4 area. so if you were using the previous cherry pick to increase the grid size, make sure you reshuffle the icons and widgets to the upper left 4x4 subset of each screen. anything outside that area will be lost. after the update you can increase the grid again and reshuffle back to your liking.

@Lanchon
Are you getting com.android.phone has stopped messages upon first boot? I have tried full wipe, flashing different kernels, different gapps packages, etc to no avail. I am installing as secondary ROM with MultiROM by the way. Your previous build (M6 I think) installs this way with no issues.
Thanks so much for keeping pdroid alive!

i havent done a clean install since i dont know when!! nor have i used multirom. im using BaNkS gapps minimal with some add-ons and i dont experience a hitch. note that you need 4.4.4 gapps for this rom. recommend you format the system partition (if it makes sense with multirom) before flashing rom and gapps. then wipe cache and dalvik.

[ROM] [CM11] SickiCM11 Nightlies [AK-Kernel|Sabermod|JustArchi]

This is my daily driver!
CM11 nightly with only a few modifications and AK-Kernel built in.
I build 2-5 builds per week, depending on CM11 nightly and AK source changes.
Rom includes
CM11 Nightly sources synced on build date
AK-kernel inside, "nightly" sources synced on build date
JustArchi´s v3 optimizations
Rom toolchain SM 4.8
Kernel toolchain SM 4.9
Pngcrushed
Removed some unneeded apps etc. (Flash SuperSu)
Removed all audiofiles, (use your own for ringtones etc)
Added toolchain infos to "About Phone -settings"
Added some logo to "About Phone -settings"
Moved CM settings to own submenu "Build Tweaks" (thanks to @rascarlo)
Hopefully fixed ART
Changed density to 360
and probably forgot to mention something...
Instructions:
Flash Rom, SuperSU and UKM
Boot
Reboot to recovery
Flash GApps
Boot and install Synapse from Playstore
Top thanks:

hammerhead Simpleaosp people
"Let The Lion Roar Free Forever!"
Flash at your own risk of course, running this daily for weeks now, builded maybe 3 times per week,
everything worked if nothing is broken from CM nightly side.
I dont take requests of features if theres no direct link to a git commit and if its not something i need myself,
as i only do this for myself, but wanted to share it with others. And also most features are beyond my skills
Most things thats in this rom is made by others which i take no credit for. If ive used something you made and didnt credit you, please let me know and we fix that.
This is my first time to create a thread for a rom and so please be gentle
.Let me know what you think, and if ive violated something, slap me in the a** and call me something bad!
My sources: https://github.com/sicknemesis (probably reaaaally messy!!!)
Download:
Dev-Host
Mirror ( thanks @TiVON )
Usually i wont inform about new builds here, unless theres something ive changed myself.
So if no info is shown, then its only CM-nightly and AK-kernel changes synced
CM11-Nightly Changelogs Bacon
Kernel Changelogs @ Ak-kernel thread and Ak-kernel source, got no need or skills to touch those
Kernel etc
AK thread

Have you never seen CM11 or any aosp ROM? Why do you need screenshots? They're pretty much identical. As for battery life, it's a very subjective thing, the only way to find out how it's going to perform is to flash it yourself.

Yeah, battery life is so hard to analyze, i run it 24-36h with 2-5h SOT . Best way is to try the kernel settings by yourself or check AK kernel thread and search infos about profiles and such. Also here is people checking each others settings out.
Rom itself looks mostly a normal CM11, and the few customizations are really "under the hood"

There could be reasons why devs don't post their work for general public release in device forums.
Also if we are going to credit the rom then the original author @deadman96385 should be recognized.

@deadman96385 didn't make this rom, he made a rom for SM-T550. @elginsk8r made SM-T350. Also, the rom was posted before there was a Samsung Galaxy Tab A Series forum.

I think you'll find the original sources are from @deadman96385 repo.
Irrespective of that it's still prudent to ask the current developer for permission.

No, the original author is me, deadman and i ported both devices at the same time using evervolv sources.
But this kid did not ask for permission, so could the mod close this thread?

Sorry for posting this thread without permission. But anyways I am not a "kid". That is very rude if you think of it in my perspective.

I wouldn't take it personally. It's just a term to describe someone, I don't think elginsk8r actually meant you were a kid. [emoji6]

Well I went ahead and tried this build anyways and it boots fine. Video and audio is working. It's a bit sluggish at times but I think that could be solved with A little work on the kernel. As long as I didn't over do it with the apps installed it ran very nicely though. I really hope that the original dev (who is a genius in my mind) keeps working on this port. I would be more than willing to do the testing and am used to logcats. Just let me know. And thank you for sharing.
i tried this the other day and i like it. but there are a couple of bugs that i found. when installing Gapps Google Music stops working on boot which i removed because i don't use it anyway. And no cameras work on it at all. all apps fail to load camera. other than that i like it. i hope someone works on this more or makes newer roms for this device.

I will be keeping my fingers crossed too. This is a good tablet. I picked up the Tab 3 t110 last year around Christmas and it too has almost no development. At least this tab has a ported CM based rom to tinker with. A good stock rooted rom would be nice too. I will be watching this thread to see if it goes anywhere.

Yea it would be nice for development on this. I have a stock rooted ROM that I rooted my self, I debloated it installed Xposed frameworks and Magiskv9. And it runs great.

That is what I am looking for too a zip of the stock rooted firmware. I can debloat it myself but its the zip that I wish I knew how to get or make.
Currently running Evervolv on my t350. Over joyed to have found a Rom and development on this device, I had lost hope for it. Thanks to everyone especially the dev.
I finally got this ROM to run very smoothly and everything is working as it should. Camera, videos, audio and Bluetooth all working. About the only thing that isn't that great is battery consumption but I think as the rom settles in it may get better. I hope that the original dev decides to officially support the t350 with his build of Evervolve. So far so good. Even the theme engine worked flawlessly.

the cameras and everything work on this out of the box, or did you need to do something to get them to work?

They worked without moding anything. But it wasn't an easy install... Lol.. I would add an app or two and let it go for a while. Doing it that way it worked great. The only issue was the battery usage. It wasn't good at all but if we had a kernel that would allow for tweaking, I think it could be tamed. Its a good start to having a ROM other than TouchWiz. : )
Please help me
I installed this custom rom and there is no google play services or nothing. just audio fx, calculator, chromium, clock. contacts, documents, downloads, email, gallery, music, settings and themes. No google anything. Please link me or tell me how to find the google play services version that i need, will be much appreciated thanks in advance

Worked flawlessly. Flashed with TWRP and rebooted and system loaded up fine. There was a few minor lags as it booted into the system past the MetroPCS logo but that was probably due to the changes made by the zip but after that the system was more fluid than it previously was even after having soo many apps installed. Great work. This is one step closer to completing a custom rom like CM13 or Lineage OS. Good luck with more development.

At the moment I am not working on this, since I am in school projects, but once I finish with it I will continue with this, both the kernel and the development of rom, the sourves are in my github of the kernel, if they want to modify it or Add improvements

Just curious, what version of Lineage OS were you building?
EDIT: I am running the kernel on the T-Mobile K330 variant with no issues. Good work :good:

I know you didn't ask me but if it helps, I'm working on CM-14.1
All i need is to "set the variables manually" but so far no luck in my research and also no one helps me with my questions. I also posted a post on the thread of k7 questions and such but so far no luck.
