Is there a ported ROM available for the Nexus 5 from the Goophone i5s or i6? I looked at these and I'd actually like to try them out to see how smooth they'd run on a more powerful phone. Either that or an equal iOS mimic ROM would be nice if there's one already released. Sorry if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find anything.
no.
in general, roms that are ported from one phone to another, do not run smooth and are buggy, thus the nature of a port. anyways, why would someone want to go in reverse, go from the latest available backward to something worse? and there arent any ios mimic roms for the nexus 5, its kinda funny that you even asked, as many people buy nexus devices to get as far away from ios as possible. your closest choice would be a miui rom, but thats not the same either,
You're not going to find a 'iOS mimic' ROM. And it will NOT run smoother if we had it available.
iOS runs the way it does so smoothly on their devices because the software is optimized to best match the hardware. Android has vary different hardware and uses native code way different than ios so you'd get either one of two things. A really really buggy laggy iOS ROM or an ok performing (and this would be with the 805 SOCs or anything newer and better) iOS ROM.
miui is your closest bet or use different launchers with some xposed modules along with these to make your device somewhat look like an idevice.

What he said about MIUI. iOS is a closed source operating system, its pretty much impossible to port iOS over to a Android device and then they'd have to work on getting the App Store etc etc all that working. It most likely won't happen and if it does, I'm sure Apple would send a cease and desist.
What I suggest the OP to do if you really must do that, download a ROM with CM Theme Manager and use this theme alongside Xposed modules http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2631573

Hi, there is no ported ROM currently for such devices as of this month, as the the Stock ROM has only been released recently. But I do have link where to download the Goophone I6 Stock ROM. From there, I think you'll have to work on porting it yourself.
Link for Stock Goophone I6 ROM:

I have actually done research and this is actually possible, provided only that you know how to extract it's recovery IMG and Kernel. Take note that you'll have to be aware of the MTK platform of your device, as there are a lot of iPhone 6 clones out there running on different platforms.
Anyways, if you are interested in creating a custom mod recovery for this device, I have a link that just might help you:
Link:http://www.chinaphonearena.com/foru...575-MT6515-MT6577-MT6517-MT6589-MT6582-MT6592

Yes there is
Please click here to go and download the Stock software for both goophone i6 versions (plastic and metal)
Why would anyone want a port like this, especially with lollipop arriving? Take discussions to goophones to the proper forums, we need no goo here.
This is a nexus forum for nexus people. We'll have no goophone here.
You need to be British to get that reference.
We can close this thread now. I think either my understanding of what a Goophone is or what I wanted was wrong, but either way I think MIUI would be my best bet if I wanted an interface similar to iOS to switch things up for a while. That's all I was really asking for. Thanks guys.

Hi, i have two questions for you, because i don't know what to do...
- the first one : Android 4.0 will be released for this phone ?
- the second one : is it possible to have an official version of Android gingerbread without Touchwiz for the galaxy S II ? ( i don't very like Touchwiz )
I ask you this questions because i don't know if it's better to wait the nexus prime, or to buy this phone... ( sorry for my english, i'm not very good )
Thank you !
1. Yes, probably
2. CM7 is already available, think of it as souped-up AOSP
If you can wait then go for the nexus prime, but there'll always be something better around the corner and the SGS2 is the best out there for the meanwhile
Ill probably be getting the samsung g note but I wonder will the nexus prime have a removable sd card.
thank you for your answers ! i think i will buy the galaxy ! but one last question : the CyanogenMod roms aren't stable yet ?

They're stable enough, as most users would agree, but there are other AOSP ROMs out there that are pure Android, without any CM stuff. It depends what you want, obviously, but if you're after pure Android (as on a Nexus, for example) then that's available and working very well.

Did you ever use and Android based phone before? Install different launcher and get rid of TW. Root your phone and delete samsung based apps with Root Uninstaller. That's it
if you don't like touchwiz you don't need to switch the rom, just search the market for a launcher that suits your liking and customize it to your preference.
i dont think touchwiz sucks that bad. but i wanted to have more control over how the app drawer sorts apps, so i downloaded go launcher ex (completely free) and i got what i want.

+1 I love TouchWiz 4.0. It's fast, smooth and looks awesome. In addition, I love using some of the widgets that are TouchWiz only. Also if you are a TouchWiz user, you can download an app called Appzorter to alphabetize your app drawer (only works on root though). I've tried other launchers and none of them seem to be as fluid as Touchwiz is.
personnaly, i think touchwiz is not very beautiful, the galaxy seems to be an old phone with that. i prefer the style of android, but it's my opinion.
Sounds like your comparing touchwiz 4 to touchwiz 3 in the galaxy i9000.
Touchwiz 4 is silky smooth compared to any other launcher and adds great functionality compared to an standard android device.

I'm a fan of pure Android too, but it obviously doesn't hurt to try all the alternatives out there. As I said ealier I use MIUI, but it's very much NOT pure Android, although built on an AOSP ROM. CM is also built from the ground up, and that's very popular. Your best bet is to just forget what you already know and try what's out there, because there are some great ROMs available. Just bear in mind that a lot of them are simply tweaked Samsung ROMs, and nothing "new" (no disrespect meant to the developers - purely an observation).
I hated the look of MIUI before I tried it because it looked like someone just wanted Android to look like the iPhone, but trying it really showed me how wrong it was. I just guess it's the same with all ROMs. Don't take anyone's word for it - try it for yourself.
possible MIUI rom ported to MediaPad?
I see MIUI rom on Nexus 7 it's so cool... :crying:
miui nexus 7 ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841208
I've never been a fan of miui roms, they look so much like iphone ui, and all those colored icons and layouts make the device look like a tablet for kids.
if it's even possible to port a rom to the mediapad i prefer something from samsung 7" tablets, the look of touchwiz is really special.
I don't think anyone is working on a MIUI rom. I personally wouldn't want to turn my tablet into a giant phone, since to my knowledge they haven't implemented a tablet UI yet. It seems like there aren't many developers working on ROMs for our device as it is, I say let them work on trying to get HDMI on Jelly Bean instead.
HTC sense from flyer would be great if someone port it

There's a very large library of themes to change the colored icons and menus. Even still, I don't think the default looks at all like the iPhone.
I have MIUI on my phone and absolutely love it. Menus, toggles, drop down/pop-ups are so much cleaner. Would be awesome to have on my tablet too.

Remember when cyanogenmod team brought life back to all our old phones? i was one of the lucky ones to get my HTC WILDFIRE supported by CM. at the same time MIUI pulled the middle finger and said F**K YOU!! we only develop for the the powerul devices.
what's the point of an after-market ROM when it dosn't support devices with few features.
after all, we are still stuck with two CM and AOKP ROMs that are not qualified enough to be used daily! how can we now start on MIUI?
it's useless
i'm sorry but that's the truth :crying: and i'm sad as F**K seeing all other devices on xda having tens of working ROMs.
we need more developers. i'm not one, but i help testing and do all my best to get something working.
huawei published all ics sources long time ago. It doesn't seems that's not helping, we already have an unlocked bootloader by default... pointless complaint imho, we only need interested developers

From my understanding, the T-Mo springboard is a redone Huawei Mediapad. The Springboard here has a very very small userbase, however the mediapad in China (from what I understand) has a much larger base. Given that MIUI is developed in China... I would think that the tablet might get some attention.

Hello, I have limited Knowledge and am New to ROM/Android.
I have a S3 i9300, and I have Rooted it.
Now I find the phone very laggy and slow ( I had a Moto g and it felt MUCH FASTER) So after some research I think this is because of touchwiz.
So now I am thinking of putting a ROM.
I looked in the ROM Section/Youtube/ and on Here and am LOST on what to do next.
I don't understand which ROM would be best for me?
All I want it is a FAST/STABLE and SMOOTH Phone.
Must be Andriod Kitkat - I want to enable ART.
I don't want crazy features like Pie control/ Touch wiz Ports ETC.
So what do you recommend?
I have heard and seen Cyagoemod. It looks like that is what i want but I am unsure? Will there be too many useless feature for me?
Thank You very much

CyanogenMod is just cool if you want the stock Android experience like on moto g, it have not that much fancy features, it has some but very useful. The only thing you will probably miss if you install CyanogenMod will be the camera quality from Samsung ROMs, in rest is very stable and fast, know from my experience

upon release Feb 14 I upgraded to the galaxy s 5, now regret that move, at&t won't allow custom Rom! It's been getting glitchy, no clean up?! That's why I bought the dam thing... So last week I said f it. I bought the flagship iPhone, 6s plus 64... And again I'm regretting it's typical non functionality . Dam! oh well at least I look cool, right?. I hate the bloat of the quickly outdated Androids, they need to be replaced sooner & sooner.
Anyone tell me if custom Rom Is the way to go, on which device? I'm thinking about ditching my new iPhone 6s plus, but just learned that the nexus 6p has a fuse denying custom Rom to be ran. ? boo!
Another quick question, is there a particular forum that I might be interested in reading?
What does this have to do with the custom ROM called Paranoid Android?

Paranoid Android officially only supports nexus devices.
A custom ROM has to be developed specifically for a device, there isn't a universal ROM that you can download to just any device. You need a build made specifically for your device.
If you want advice about a particular device, you need to go to that devices forum section.
If you want advice about general Android usage, visit the general Android forum section.

XDA has how many users across how many forum sections?
I have no idea what's out there. Nonetheless, this discussion doesn't belong in this forum section.
I got a Project Tango tablet from work, it has k1 tegra chipset and it is stuck on original firmware, which is android 4.4.4 and doesnt performs very well on normal tasks as far as it is very powerfull hardware. Any chance I can upgrade it with custom firmware? Maybe shield tablet which has similar hardware without the special sensors?
Last time I had the tango (back in July 2016) there were no custom firmware/rom for it. I would check out the Tango Devs group on G+ to see if anyone has created an update for it.
Any news about this? Any help would be much appreciated.

First off you are going to need root the device. Then a custom recovery. Then you can think of customs ROMS if you can work out the hardware and the appropriate drivers.
Just because it has the same processor as the Shield does not mean that all the other hardware is the same.

Thanks, the process is crystal clear, I just wanted to know if anybody already advanced anything in this device, but it feels as there is no progress at all, so It will be worth to sell this nearly new tablet and buy another device with more community working with it. A shame, with 128Gb emmc, 4Gb RAM and a powerfull processor...
It would be great if we could get any assistance from Google on this, I highly am doubtful they will release kernels but it is worth trying to petition them to release them, or anything of value towards this, to the community. The hardware is excellent on the tango Dev tablet, but at this point the software is absimal, and, as is, barely functions. I find most software cannot run and constant glitches make using it worse than a contemporary generic device despite an excellent touchscreen and the tegra processor.
I have rooted my Tango tablet, but what hopes do we have of a community rom running any newer version of Android? (5.1+) The shield tablet has similar hardware and could maybe be used as a base to develop from, as the basic kernel will be similar. anyone determine what wifi/Bluetooth hardware is on board the tango?
Come on Google, help us get full functionality and release the kernels!
Is there any one behind this project?

if you want the development of the kernel at least started, make the kernel start logs. use the program syslog from Google Play for example.
I completely forgot that I found and downloaded the source code of the kernel on this tablet. The kernel is there version 3.10.24. With a strong desire, it could easily be adapted to the modern kernel 3.10.96.
I have the possibility of getting this tablet sub $100 and would be extremely interested if a newer Android could be loaded here. Or even maybe something like UBports (formerly Ubuntu Touch)
