Call recorder app - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know of a call recorder app that works with Z2? Rooted with stock latest firmware.
I installed the xposed Dialer Mods which enables call recording, but it has no settings so I have no idea if it works, how to turn it on or off, where the files are saved etc.

Yep that's it, there's a drop down box when you are on a call and the file is saved in the /recorder folder.
Thanks and sorry if I posted in the wrong place.

need CALL RECORDER apk?

hi everbdy..
Is there anyone who knows an application which can be used as a call recorder.

There are some in the market just search for call recorder

I think I read somewhere that due to security limitations or something, you can only record calls while the loudspeaker is on, which makes call recording apps pretty much useless.
There are some out there though, all the lines I looked at had this limitation.
I have 'AirVoice' but I have yet to get it to work!

I read something about this limitation, too.
but I wonder, is this limitation is applied only for android softwares.
because my friends are using call recorder for their Nokia phones.

This is rom dependable. For miui roms it is already integrated and you don't need additional app.
For other roms on HTC desire there is thread with custom kernel and app. Then there is no loudspeaker limitation.

Total recall issue - recording

Hi.
I have an issue with the app: 'Total Recall'
I want to record my calls 2-way. Meaning you can hear your own voice and the voice of the one calling/being called.
Currently it only records the incoming sound. Sound of the one calling/being called.
I can't hear my own voice.
Does someone know a fix for this?
I really need your help ASAP because I need to use it for legal reasons!
Thanks guys!

Recording Strategy C works perfectly on both my phones. If not working for you then why not ask the question over at Killer Mobile after all they make it and support it, I am sure they will assist.
works fine with strategy C with my stock KF3 ROM.
after flashing to stock KH3 ROM, all strategies A, B and C is no longer working (only record my own voice).
EDIT:
I found out why it isn't recording. Apparently it was the custom kernel (ninphetamine) that caused it.
Using SpeedMod on KH3 now and it's working fine again.
You all keep talking about strategy C. But I can only select A and B? There is no C?

Are you using the latest version, 1.8.5?
Better yet just use the S2 specific build (at least for the i9100 models) and you won't have to adjust anything.
Unfortunately the T989, Galaxy Epic 4G Touch and some other "S2 variants" will need to use our Standard version and set the app to Strategy B.

aFirewall weird new permission

Latest aFirewall (call blocking software) update has 2 new permissions, one of them I can understand since its related to app purpose:
INTERCEPT OUTGOING CALLS
Allows the app to process outgoing calls and change the number to be dialed. Malicious apps may monitor, redirect, or prevent outgoing calls.
But there's a second permission that I dont see its purpose:
RETRIEVE RUNNING APPS
Allows the app to retrieve information about currently and recently running tasks. Malicious apps may discover private information about other apps.
What's in this version:
3.6.0:
1. Update application icon;
2. Add running info display and shortcut;
3. Fix two FCs;

Anyone knows if this permission is really necessary?
Thank you

-.-
I can see that, but what does this do? Why does a call blocking app needs this?
To identify malicious apps running in the background, I assume?
It used to identify if BackupToEmail is installed in your phone. Thanks.

Shouldn't need any special permission to determine if a specific package is installed.

[Q] Video calls over 3G

Hello fellow z ultra dwellers,
I´ve looked everywhere but can´t seem to find the option to enable video calling over 3G. I´m on stock 4.3 now on a C6833.
I used to have a Samsung phone before and the video calling feature was always sitting next to the voice calling one, no need to enable anything.
Please help.

That's a touchwizz feature not present on Sony roms. Sony let the user add their preferred apps rather that embedding it into the rom.

Ok, thanks Spider, I understand that.
So do/can you recommend any particular app for enabling video calling over 3G? (I don´t mean videoconferencing like Skype).
Thanks in advance!

I must admit, that video call feature was one of the good ones in touchwizz.

I was wondering how does the 3G video call work. I mean, isn't there some configuration that it needs to get working ? Where does the phone get the configuration, how do I find it out ?

There is an open source app called IMSDroid, I am trying to find out how to configure it though.

Walkman doesn't recognise downloaded play store music

Hi guys,
I'm having problem getting music that I downloaded from play store to show up on walkman.
I tried a suggestion from a post I found on google, opt to download music to external sd card. I can actually find the file I downloaded from play store on sd card under android/com.google.android.music/files/music, but it just won't show up on walkman's library.
Does anyone have an idea about what might be wrong? Thanks!

Its hidden, under a .nomedia file, only play music can see it.

Well it's hidden so you shouldn't be able to delete it. You could potentially delete it by using a file manager but it could cause issues with play music. Also play music doesn't download the files with conventional file names. The metadata is not stored with the song so in any other music app such as Walkman all the music will look completely wrong such as wrong title album, art etc.

You can try Play Music Exporter if you have root.
If you have root then use GMusicFS

Just download the song to your pc and then drag it into the music folder on the Z2. Walkman will then see it.

Thanks guys! Unfortunately my phone is not rooted and I'm not really willing to do that.
And, yes, I know I can just download it from a computer and put it on my phone, but I don't understand why would Google want to make things complicated like that. It's just really annoying! Just switched from an iPhone to Xperia not long ago. I must say I really miss 'everything just works' on my iPhone.
Yes the limited features of an iPhone do just work. The same features just work on Android. What you're requiring is user preference. Just use play music its a great app especially when used with all access

Actually, I'm not just referring to this. There have been a lot of problems with the phone since I got it. Luckily, there is no gap or anything physical like some other people are experiencing with their phones.
The screen is way too sensitive, hovering my fingers on the screen can even be registered as a touch. it was annoying at the beginning but now I'm getting used to it.
I got the Australian version of Xperia Z2. While a lot of countries have already got updated to 17.1.1, mine is still sitting at 17.1. I had to backup the phone and then flash the German firmware myself. I could not understand why don't Sony just simply release the update worldwide at once and everyone will be happy!
I backed up the phone via Sony companion. However, when I tried to restore all my contents...Guess what? First try, it stuck in the middle and progress indicator did not move for hours. Second time, I had to untick the 'others' to let it at least finish the restore, which means all my app data could not be restored. Even after that, it still couldn't get the job done properly. After the restore was finished, the app was telling me my contacts and settings cannot be restored. Third time, messages restore was successful, but settings and messages cannot be restored...the funny thing is, messages were successfully restored during the second time, but failed in the third time...I just...grrrrrrrr! Finally I gave up and decided to set up every thing on my phone manually after wasting my whole day on this. (If you know any backup app that works well, please let me know. the Sony one is absolutely pathetic!)
Also, I cannot seem to get the MP4 files to play properly on my phone, they have no sound for whatever reason.
While I enjoy the active noise cancelling without dragging an extra brick around, I don't really think I will get another Sony or any android phone when I upgrade next time.
To be fair, it was just you being inpatient that started that ball rolling. The ota won't be long, and then all the backup restore problems wouldn't be needed. I never backup anything, I just set it up again when needed, mostly it is in the cloud anyways. Not sure about the mp4s, everything thrown at it so far has been fine

Yes I was inpatient, because I thought the new update would fix the screen issue and it did. The Australian version wasn't even getting the .69 update, so I assumed this one would take a long time to get released as well.
Even without this whole update thing, I would still want a functional backup/restore system in place. The reason why I would want to backup my phone is that I like carrying all the app data to my new phone or keeping data when I have to restore the phone for whatever reason. Google's app data sync doesn't work for me at all. It doesn't seem to restore anything but reinstalling app I installed before. All my progress in games, messages in whatsapp and viber are all gone.
My friend had the same problem with his account not syncing with Google also, he lost his contacts every time he flashed. I've never had that problem with android ever. It might be worth looking into why it's not working, it's android/google not Sony tho. I always used titanium backup, but I'm not looking to root this phone, just because it already works exactly as I want straight out the box, from battery life to battery%. Have a look on google play, there will be other backup solutions that may work better for you.
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
Yea I tried some of them and none of those seem to work like the iTunes. Oh well.. I will just live with it for now.
Btw, under google account it says app data is being synced...hopefully it's actually working now.
