[Q] Nexus 4 not recognized-Windows 8.1 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am using nexus 4 and updated to latest version of android 4.4.4
And just after updating my soft keys stopped working I had no clue what should be done.
So i thought of formatting it But my nexus wont connect to my laptop it says device descriptor failed with code 43 on Device manager of windows.
This USB issue is surely not because of update.Because my USB was not recognized when i was using 4.2 also I have tried on windows 7 and windows 8 also. All says the same code error.
I am FED up trying on the WINDOWS SIDE(taking out battery, usb power off and etc etc) and ANDROID SIDE(installing adb, installing drivers from wugfresh steps and etc etc)
I am not getting how to proceed.Because nothing is helping me out.My nexus do not connect to my lenovo laptop.... anyone help me please

do you want to connect for development? are you having problems with drivers (if you go to Device Manager is it showing driver problems)?

Thanks for responding.
I do not want to do any development actually.
I just want to flash my phone. But the biggest problem is i am not able to connect it via usb.I can see other phone in my same laptop.
I have tried changing USB and have tried connecting it with other win7,win8 systems.
It just says device descriptor request failed.Nothing else in the device manager.Just that yellow mark at device descriptor request failed with code 43.
I really need someones help.My phone is of no use now.

are you possibly using a USB 3.0 port? if so use a 2.0
I've tried using both and no luck either way.

You could always do what I ended up doing; get an Ubuntu Live CD and run it without installing, download the sdk, and run adb/fastboot commands that way.

This is a very good suggestion and Ubuntu 13.04 installs beside Windows 8 pretty easily. As long as you get into the bios and turn secure boot off and then change the boot order to put your CD image or sd drive first.
It is probably the easiest way if to don't have a Windows 7 machine laying around. That's what I had to do myself. I didn't feel like installing the sdk on my Fedora partition right then so I hijacked my wife's computer.

see this thread... it helped me solve my Win8, 64-bit, USB issues, including fastboot.
I have problem with HTC One flashed Stock RUU with Google edition and can't see mass storage. In device manager Android device: My HTC -this is ok, but MTP driver is not found, i had tried everything.

Hello,
When I plug mk888 (android tv box) or Milestone 2 to my computer looking for drivers. Not so alone it is pointing. Connected it without the debug mode (SD mode) and it worked.
But when I turn these modes I can not get it to install the drivers: (
I do not know what's going on.

I found a similar movie before. I did it, but Dalen does not work. It shows that supposedly has recorded but did not work, and shows error code 10
The devices manager I have this:
Class for rockusb devices:
Rockusb Devices (with a black exclamation mark).
Similarly for motorola adb.
any news ideas ?

Acer A700 USB problem

Hello. I've got A700 and I'm trying to root it but I've got a problem. I tried it with every key combination (power, volume up & down) I found on the internet but they don't work.
I also tried it when using the USB port but my PC and my laptop won't recognise the tablet. I've downloaded the drivers from Acer but when I install them my PC asks to install NET frameworks 2.0.5727. This version is no longer available but Frameworks 3 also worked according to Microsoft. After this installation the drivers from Acer still don't want to install. Then I tried it with Android USB driver but the same problem keeps coming back.
When I plug the tablet on my PC and look in the windows device manager there is a yellow triangle on the USB port with an error code 43. I've got the same problem and errors on my laptop. They both work on Windows 8.1. Could it be that the problem is on my tablet's USB? There is no problem when charging.
Does anyone have a similar problem or maybe a solution?
I have this problem too for my Acer a700. When I connect the tablet, i can't see the folders on the tablet via the pc anymore. I can't put files on it, and I can't transfer files from the tablet to the pc.
I contacted Acer and they said that windows 8.1 uses a new way to deal with usb drivers.
I will translate (google translate) from dutch to english
Dear customer,
*
Unfortunately, Windows 8.1 handles the USB drivers differently than Windows 7/8. So there are specific drivers for Windows 8.1 required that we can not supply at this time.
We have made a request to check whether these drivers are still going to be mad.e At this moment we can not specify the period within which we as a reaction to get going.
Until then you might try to work with the following generic driver: http://www.droid-now.com/2013/10/fix-working-fastboot-drivers-windows-8-1-x64/
Note that they are not specifically designed for the Acer tablet and we can not provide support for the things that are discussed there.
Following the instructions is at your own risk.
*
As soon as we have more information about the Windows 8.1 driver, we will inform you about it.
*
Hoping this provides you with sufficient information and we apologize for the inconvenience
Any update. I have same problem running window 10.

[Q] USB Device not Recognized - HTC EVO 4G LTE on Windows 8.1

Good morning all,
I am looking for help. I can't connect my phone to my Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop running Windows 8.1. I would like to connect my phone as a USB device to via USB cable to transfer photos, videos and music back and forth. I used to be able to do this, but for some reason it has stopped working. Now when I connect the phone I get the notification "USB Device not recognized". When clicking on the bubble, it expands to "The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it".
The phone connects successfully to a Dell Precision M4700 running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 and a HP Pavilion running Win 7 Home Prem SP1. The USB cable is original. So my guess is that it has something to do with Windows 8.1.
As I mentioned, it worked in the past before on this computer, but now it won't recognize as a USB device. Also, this problem also appears on an old HTC EVO and a Samsung Intercept. They connect to the Win 7 laptops, don't get recognized on the Win 8.1
I have read ideas about deleting USB from Device Manager or updating drivers for Win 7, but nothing specific about Win 8, so I haven't tried anything yet. I did unplug, remove battery from laptop, reboot, removed battery from phone (the old EVO, the new one I can't), etc. Cable and phone work fine on Win 7, not on Win 8.
Any ideas on how to solve this are greatly appreciated.
I believe you'll need the Intel drivers for everything to work properly. Check out this thread for more info.

Thanks for pointing out the thread. I have gone through all of it, but I am not using ADP or Fastboot. I haven't installed any drivers other than HTC Sync (which I uninstalled after they didn't work). Some of the solutions ask to look up the android device on Device Manager to update drivers, but I don't see the device on the list.
Sorry for being such a noob, but I am frustrated I can't connect my phone as a USB drive to transfer photos, etc. Any specific ideas I can try?
Thanks again.
Im haveing teh same probum verry annoying!

Hi guys, I got the solution.
The Windows 7 and 10, at least, or maybe the 64 bit SOs, need turned off the "signature check of the drivers". You can google this: "How to Disable Driver Signature Verification on 64-Bit Windows 8 or 10 (So That You Can Install Unsigned Drivers)"
After that, turned ON my phone normaly, and put it the USB connect to CDROM, then, you need to go on "My Computer" (on the PC), and enter in the folder of your phone and copy the drivers right there to your Desktop. For Windows 10, I got the folder x64 (the folder win8164 didn't work for me). Then turn off your phone, connect to USB, open the Mobile Upgrade software, and go in the Device to install the drivers from where show to you unrecognize device "Android". Use the point a folder (the x64 that you copied), and done! It will install the drivers and the Mobile Upgrade will recognize your phone.
