about First version of KitKat 4.4.2 for Z2 - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I want to know about which build number version that came with Z2.
And is there any possible to get it in ftf file or is it possible to uninstall all the software updates and back to first rom that came with my Z2
Thanks for advance.

I want it without keyboard languages
I want to download it my self

The build number that came with your phone will depend on when you bought it. If you want to know the earliest KitKat build, it's 17.1.A.2.55. All available FTFs are in the link that tonypro79 provided. If you want one with just the German keyboard language, just get either the unbranded Germany (1281-4640) or Germany O2 (1281-4650).

I want know to downgrade my phone but how?
Normal flashing for does it need something else?
My has locked bootloader

Just download the firmware that you like, and use Flashtool to flash the FTF file. There are plenty of tutorials (including videos) on how to use Flashtool to flash FTF firmware files. And do make sure that you untick the "Wipe data" option if you want to keep your user data when you downgrade.

Problem with finding firmware D6503

Hello!
Today I get my Xperia Z2 branded by T-Mobile in Poland. I want to root without voiding my guaranty. I have FW 23.0.1.A.0.167 running Android 4.4.4. I'm know that i have to downgrade my firmware, but I can't find matching firmware for my device and brand. I've searched in this topic of course -
[FTF] STOCK FIRMWARES for Xperia Z2/Z2a (D65x3/D6502/SO-03F) [20141116]
Can somebody help me?
Greetings from Poland!
May I downgrade from 23.0.1.A.0.167 (4.4.4 update) to 17.1.2.A.0.314 Germany - unbranded - 1281-4640? Is that won't brick my device?

You can downgrade to any ftf until its for your model. you might want to try and use xperifirm for ftf download though. you might find your phone's ftf.

[Q] Safest steps to root Xperia Z2?

Ok so I convinced myself that when I got this phone (which is pretty much new) I would not bother rooting and unlocking bootloader etc.
Well I am absolutely fed up with the ads popping up everywhere and so I want to root to get Adaway back (I have it on my Nexus 7 tablet and no ads is a must!) :silly:
so please, what is currently the best and safest way to root? I know it would void the warranty but if I can at least revert it to stock and get the warranty back should anything happen then I would prefer this.
I was reading a few posts that say to root, you need to unlock the bootloader but doing so removes drm keys or something meaning it cannot be restored to complete stock?
Phone is:
Xperia Z2 Black
Android Version: 4.4.4
Baseband Version: 8974-xxxxxxxxx-00027-12
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-perf-gd4d661a
Build Number: 23.0.1.A.0.167
Thanks for your help

Backup data
Downgrade to 4.4.2
Root
Install recovery
Flash rooted 4.4.4 zip in recovery
Restore data
You will still have locked bootloader
You will still have warranty
You will still have the ability to return phone to 100% stock state

So I need to install the Android SDK and use Flashtool to backup and flash 4.4.2 rom? Also when you say back up data do you mean my music and pics etc, or actually backup the stock rom?

Those are the customisation numbers of the ROM. Some roms have different (more or less) stock apps or modified icon. An unbranded rom wouldn't have branded apps like vodaphone app or telstra app

Sorry for been a pain again
I just setup the android-sdk, adb and fastboot (just rerooted my Xperia S so I know everything is setup ok),
I just want to double check first (better safe than sorry!) before messing around with the Z2:
1. Is there a way of backing up the stock rom and kernel before downgrading to 4.4.2, or do you need root/unlock bootloader to backup?
2. To downgrade to 4.4.2 rom do I just use this command:
fastboot flash boot D6503_17.1.2.A.0.314_3UK.ftf

I am going to flash this rom: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B44Yxk18UJ4TNV9jSDlMN0s5NW8/edit

You use flashtool to flash a FTF file
Fastboot is used for flashing IMGs and elf files
Thanks, its been a while doing all this stuff so I just need to be certain.
So I dont need to do anything like unlock bootloader before flashing that downgrade rom?
The post i linked to has good instructions I have been following, so I downloaded stock 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 rom, later I will try flashing. I also learned from reading in that thread what all the numbers mean, so in my service menu i was looking at it My bootloader can also be unlocked
I just want to make sure I do everything right as with my Xperia S and Nexus 7 2013 I rushed into it without backing the roms up, I never bricked the devices but still you do worry especially with expensive phone like Z2

[Q] Question Regarding Flashing D6503 Frimware On D6502

hello people
i bought a new z2 (D6502) and it came with 4.4.4 preinstalled
and i want to root the phone so after some searching i found out that i have to downgrade to .314
and i was wondering.would it be ok to flash a .314 D6503 frimware on my phone so i can root and flash a pre rooted .167?
because the weird thing is that i live in the middle east.my phone came with full arabic support but when searched here i couldn't find a D6502 firmware for middle east region that supports arabic .neither .314 or .167
only found such firmware for the D5603
how come then my phone fully supports arabic
thanx in advance
No you cant
The phone will still work but wifi and mobile data so its useless essentialy.
ok but then i can flash the pre rooted package from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/stock-4-4-4-23-0-1-0-167-bug-free-t2929402
and install the D6502 patch he provided
would that work
also.any idea then why then i have a 4.4.4 with full arabic support yet i cant find the ftf file in the stock firmwares thread
You should be good to flash that
And the FTF thread only has what people request usualy or need.
very well then i'll flash the D6503 .314 then flash the pre rooted package of .167 with D6502 patch
i now but i couldn't find it anywhere as well
is there a tool i can use to extract the current firmware on my device as a ftf file to keep it in case anything happened?perhaps upload it here as well so people like me in the ME can benefit from it
btw thanx alot for the help

Possible to Change Device Default Region?

So I ended up ordering my Z3 Tablet Compact from a Japanese retailer and when I check for updates using Sony's Xperia "Update Center" it still links to the co.jp website. Is there anyway I could change the region so that when I do my Lollipop Update I could fully switch over to US default for everything?
I'm using the 16GB Wifi model SGP611 currently on Build Number: 23.0.1.A.0.167
yes, Flash a FTF file for the region you want. You could flash a US FTF now and wait for the US lollipop release, or you could flash the noba lollipop now.

[ROM][STOCK][5.0.2][C6833] Xperia Z Ultra Pre-Rooted Firmware 14.5.A.0.270 (Lollipop)

Hello, here is a TWRP-flashable pre-rooted original Sony's Lollipop firmware for Xperia Z Ultra. It was made with the aid of Flashtool, Xperifirm and PRFCreator. I thank the authors of these wonderful tools. I encourage you to make your own pre-rooted firmware yourself, but if you are just not interested in such things and your Xperia Z Ultra is C6833, you can just grab it here.
There is just a couple of requirements to get this flashed: any recent version of TWRP already installed to your phone and a microSD memory card. So yes, you need to find a way to install TWRP on your Ultra somehow. Note: ClockworkMod may seem to install this fine also, but in my case the system actually was not properly installed and numerous errors did emerge, so I do not recommend use it for installation.
Here is some technical info regarding this firmware:
Phone: Sony Xperia Z Ultra (codename: Togari)
Phone Version: C6833
Origin: Stock (original by Sony, nothing removed)
Branding: No Brand
CDA: 1276-7737
Market: Russia
Operator: Customized RU
Firmware release: 14.5.A.0.270 / R2D
Here what have been integrated in the firmware by PRFCreator:
SuperSU: v2.46
LockedDualRecovery: v2.8.15
And finally here is the link to the firmware itself on Mega.

You're welcome. I will share stock pre-rooted ROMs once Sony will release them. I think we may expect at least an upcoming update to 5.1.
Hi,
I am in CrDroid CM12.1 based ROM with TWRP recovery, and would like to flash this ROM. My bootloader is already unlocked, but you have mentioned that you have integrated "LockedDualRecovery", does this mean my bootloader will be again locked ? Do I need to unlock bootloader again to flash CM based ROM, if I would like to do in future ?
Thanks

Hello. No, your bootloader will stay as it is. LockedDualRecovery is just a piece of recovery software.
