[Q] S3: Cell Antenna Issues with ATT -> Verizon body swap - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey All,
I was biking and smashed my screen up on my s3 pretty bad, broken lcd and shattered glass.
However, i have a verzion S3 that I swap the ATT board into and it works (after some dremeling).... kind of
I have to put the ATT plastic antenna/layer 2 backing on the verizon s3 body and it doesn't mesh well, but i do get 1 or 2 bars of cell signal.
When I put the verzion backing on, its all flush but i dont get a signal because the antenna is different.
What should I do?

Aria in call problem

Ok
I have an aria, i replaced the screen.. when i make a call i cant hear the other person, but when i put it on speaker i can hear, I disabled the proximity sensor, what would cause this...
Its only temporary tho since i have an atrix 4g, but i dropped that in the toilet, i had a otter box defender case tho so it helped, but the ribbon cable came apart from the digitizer, so i ordered a new one, but waiting for it, so using the aria for now,
i can handle the speaker part, for now but just wondering what would cause this,
also incase it happens with the atrix 4g also.
Thanks guys.
It means your earpiece speaker is not connected properly. Speaker phone works because it uses the speaker on the back of the phone when you switch to speaker phone.
i see now, the earpiece dont have any wires, it basically just sits there,, but its not there, it must of fell out when i put it back togather, my wife has an aria, with a shattered screen, so i will just use that one ,
I had the same thing: Wife used Aria and shattered the screen. I ordered a new one, replaced it and I remember some black rubber ribbon fell out. I didn't give it much thought until I tested a call on it. So I took the phone apart, put it back in there and the problem was gone

Weak WiFi/GPS due to cracked back upper cover?

I just picked up a used EVO LTE and the back upper cover is cracked around the camera cover area and is loosely secured with tape. I am going to order another replacement one from ebay, but would that explain my somewhat weaker WIFI signal in my bedroom? My other phones had full bars of wifi but this one usually registers "poor" or 1 bar in my room. I go closer to the router in the kitchen and it's goes to 3-4 bars.
GPS is acceptable, usually gets a decent lock in a little bit of time.
Phone is rooted, S-OFF and a custom rom.
I have the same issue with my Wi-Fi signal. My girl's phone will shoebnetworks that aren't even showing up in my network list. I believe this phone has a weak signal

Back plastic cover has all the antenas built onto it. No cover and all signals crap out. I had the same problem with my sisters EVO LTE when they left it on top of the car hood and it fell when they drove off. Poor thing got ran over and all! Idk how the heck it was still powering on with a broken screen. Replaced the screen and tried to use it like that till I find a back cover and I couldn't pick up Wi-Fi at all. Once I purchased the back cover signal skyrocketed. So definitely get a new back cover. I found it for 5 bucks on eBay but last I checked the seller brought the price up to $14.

I will definitely order one. And you are referring to the upper plastic back cover with the camera housing that you replaced for increased signal? Not the one that isn't removable right?

Yes I'm talking about the renovable back half. If you look at it you'll see the little strips attached that makes contacts to the connecters on the back of the phone. Once you get that you'll see the difference. My EVO LTE picks up more Wi-Fi connections than my Note 2 so it definitely doesn't have a weak Wi-Fi radio, it just depends on that cover heavily..

Super thin aluminum bumpers and Signal Loss

http://www.casefanatic.com/samsung-2/galaxy-note-3/galaxy-note-3-love-mei-metal-bumper/
This looks great and its thin at .7mm.
I remember on the Note 2, I bought the hunterF iphone case and signal quality was horrible because of the back plate.
Do aluminum bumpers degrade signal quality? This was the best case I could find for maintaining the handfeel of the phone. I really enjoy the back texture and general slimness so I dont even want to use anything like a TPU case.
I had problems with this type of bumper on an iphone 4, but they had the antenna along the side so for the n3 this likely won't be a problem. One thing I noticed, at least in the renders, this case doesn't have a hole on the lower right side for (what many people say is) the temperature / humidity sensor.

Not ure, but I can tell you this, I received my note III aluminum back cover replacement today (ebay), and it absolutely destroys signal, data is slow, dropped calls, remove it and immediately signal is back.
This is the one I bought

Curious to know how the fitment is for your back cover. . Could you post pictures?
Aluminium bumper is a waste
There is a scientific reason how metal can block or boost signal.
In our case, aluminium bumper is blocking network antena in the phone.
On my iphone, it was not a problem, payne because the antena was not affected.
But now in my Note 4, it clearly blocks the network antena(as I saw the antena position on the note 4) and my signal gets lost.
I dont think that u'll have a problem, as the note 3 has the antenna on the back!
Wrong dude. It will block ur signal for sure. I bought 1 and checked. You will lost around 1-2 bars on ur signal.
Same as the metal back cover.
Actually i want to convert my note 3 to metal, so i bought 1 metal frame, 1 metal back cover. They make my signal weaker, 2-4 bars depend on ur location.
In my experience, dont waste ur money. I pay 30 bucks for both of them.
Ps: also block wifi signal too.

Can I remove a working LCD from one phone and put it in another (Galaxy S4?)

Hi there -
Hi there! So recently I dropped my s4 and the glass stayed intact but the lcd cracked and screen went black. I have a friend with an AT&T s4 (mine is verizon) and his screen is mint. Can I remove the lcd from his safely and transfer it to mine? I know when I removed mine I broke the lcd silver film, but mine was already cracked so no biggie. Will the AT&T lcd unit fit and can I safely remove it and put it on mine? Thanks so much!

Is it also possible that I could remove the verizon motherboard and install it into the at&t body? Also to clear up some things, from the AT&T phone I need the glass+digitizer+LCD - full assembly. Would it be easier to transfer verizon parts to at&t body (will it even work?) or will it be easier to remove the whole display unit and pretend like I just bought the part online and need to install it.
Thanks guys!

My Galaxy S9+ / SM-G965W is a dust magnet!

I just recently bought my galaxy s9+ used on eBay for $800. The previous owner said he had it and used it for less than 2 weeks and bought it out right from a bell store. For the past 2 weeks since I've owned it been a dust magnet and having to clean it every time I take it out my pocket, I never had this issue with my previous phone galaxy s7 edge. And Samsung says its supposed to be water and dust resistance. When I first got it and tried to charge it without turning it on there was a static shock when the cable touched the side of it and another when connecting into the charging port which im thinking that might to be the problem, maybe If I just let drain completely it'll lose its static electricity which dust tends to cling too idk. anyone else having this problem. I don't use any case just full coverage dbrand skin.
