Does anyone have any info if and when this will become available? I am NEVER going to buy another MetroPCS phone again. This has to be the worst turnaround time for a phone update ever.
Can't someone simply make a backup of the stock MEga and make it available????
Thanks!

Patience
I know what you mean everyone is anxious and they're slowly moving forward. Im saying this because as of today 9/12/14 I checked the official Samsung.com website for the galaxy mega 6.3 for metropcs and they have started selling the device running the kitKat OS samsung.c o m/us/mobile/cell-phones/SGH-M819ZKATMB so its got me hopeful and patiently continuing my wait. Hope this helps.
++im new so they wudnt let me post the URL++
P.S I wouldn't want to experiment with anything less than what Samsung has to offer (regarding the OS. )

anybody else having issues after rooting? I cannot access security under settings so I can not install unknown programs.
Knox when rooting?
I don't want to trip Knox but I want to root so I'm waiting on MetroKat/ MegaKat I don't know if it will trigger knox but if it does I guess I have no choice.

Hi,
Ive had my Galaxy S3 for about 4 months now, and being in Australia waiting for the Jelly Bean update is driving me crazy, So i wanted to know how hard it would be to root my S3, I would have done it as soon as i got the phone however, My first galaxy stopped working after putting a new rom on the phone and my galaxy s2's screen turned blue and then died, although this could have been because i dropped it the day before, not sure both of these have kind of put me off rooting, however ive had a xoom and optimus 3d that are still fine on custom roms.
Also, If i wanted to return to stock, and unroot the phone, would that restore my warranty?
I have the International Galaxy S3, I think With Optus in Australia,
I would have searched how to root by myself, but i really dont want to brick the phone.
So if someone could link me to a stable rom and some instructions on how to root it would be fantastic
Thanks for reading
4 months..... I couldn't even wait for a day after received my S3
Even with custom ICS ROM you ll see huge difference
Hehhe I don't really care about warranty anymore after I chose to root
As long I enjoy the phone... But there's a way to do that...
I can't help you to find the link for rooting and apply CWM since I haven't been to any threads
If I were you, go search root by CF....
Good luck

Hi, Thanks for the reply,
I am going to follow this guide, Its from another website so my apologies if i am not allowed to post links to external sites, Although i found the link on an XDA thread so i figured it would be okay
http://www.androidrootz.com/2012/09/how-to-root-any-samsung-galaxy-s3.html
And im just looking at ROM's now, Just out of curiosity which ROM are you using androbot?
Thanks
I would always root my phone Just because you can use AD Block
Haha yeah i will look forward to that , Just Root'd phone then Tested with Titanium backup and works fine Just wondering if any of you could recommend a good ROM, or the ROM your currently using that your really happy with? Thanks
I'm using crDroid 6.3 at the moment...
I like ROM doesn't get stripped but still performs fast and fluid too...
Each user has their own taste....
The ROM is around 9xx mb...
It's got AROMA installer too....
After you root and install CWM, crDroid ROM requires touch recovery to avoid any problem...so you need to flash touch recovery recommended ...

I gave stock a try for a while.... Lasted 3 days. Samsung managed to create something that can't run on a quad core phone.... That's almost something to be proud of, I shouldn't experience lag and homescreen redraws on a $500+ phone. Installing a custom rom is a must for me, I don't understand why OEM version of Android are so horrible but they are. Rooting only will give you a few benefits and extra things you can tweak as well as ad blocking and making the GPS faster. But if you really want a change, custom roms are the way to go.
Hey guys new to android based phones, ive had the s3 for a few months and have read the forum for a while, i want to flash a custom rom and read about imei backup which i just did but i want to know is it common for the imei to delete when flashing?
I lasted about 3 weeks on stock.. now dual booting CM10 & UltraROM. You won't regret it :good:
Should I root??
Sorry for posting here but it's the closest I have found to what my question is. I have an AT&T S3. I would like to root to get rid of my bloatware but I'm a chicken. I rooted my HTC Inspire over a year ago and I didn't really know how to remove to AT&T apps and the stock rom was not as snappy as it was prior to rooting. I planned on staying on ICS until an official JB OTA was available, as I've never flashed custom roms before. What I'm most concerned about I guess is whether rooting will mess up my 4gLTE and wifi. I rely heavily on wifi since sadly, AT&T is lame, expensive, and doesn't offer unlimited data. So I want to make sure I don't screw up wifi if I do this. Can anyone provide insight or point me to a good resource that can help?? Thanks a bunch in advance and sorry for the noob questions.

Using Odin to flash CF-Root is super-easy, so don't be afraid. Rooting will not affect your phone's smoothness, but if you use it to remove apps with Titanium Backup without making sure they are not useless, you may end up having performance issues or worse. Of course, I'm not saying you shouldn't root, just that after rooting, take care with what you remove via TB.
CF-Root can be found in the Original Android Development forum, follow the instructions and you'll be ok.

Hello, I am receiving an official update on my S3 device by ota, It says the amount of 419.04MB. I suppose it is Android 4.3.
But this update is recomended? Does it have any problem, or lag, or Samsung fixed it on the update?
Please tell me if it is correct to update my mobile or not.
Regards and thanks to all of you.
For me it lagged extreme!
Device: Samsung Galaxy S3
ROM: CyanogenMod 11 (Temasek Unofficial V36 )
Kernel: Boeffla-Kernel-CM11-2.1-Beta9-
Version UGML4 is fine, a slight lag on waking from deep sleep but battery life is excellent.

Update your phone via a "SMART TERMINAL" or KIES.
I updated via OTA when I got home. The update went smooth... but the phone got awful slow/laggy/terrible.
A few days passed and I found a Samsung shop. Went in and saw an "update terminal."
After it finished, the phone was buttery smooth again.
Please note, that encryption will be MUCH SLOWER. So you cannot use it encrypted anymore. At least not like you used it. It will lag, it will stutter, all the crap you can imagine. Lucky I have insurance and I use a powerful password. So even if I get robbed I can reset the phone from home and get a new phone for cheap.
But yeah, I do miss the encryption feature, I felt safer that way. But it just got way too slow.
I even took the phone back to Samsung as in warranty repair, but they told me the policy says they can't downgrade so they just pushed up the 4.3 rom all over again. Meh.

Hi,
im in the UK on the network 02
I upgraded about 3 weeks ago now and i have had no problems whatsoever, I guess i was a lucky one ive heard all sorts of problems with this update i just cant wait until 4.4 comes that's if it ever does!
I have searched and searched and couldn't find any information on the differences between these galaxy mega devices. What I have seen is people saying "don't flash a i9205 or i9200 rom to a l600 device". And my question is what makes these devices so different that would cause them to be bricked? I've seen some AWESOME roms for the i9205 devices and would love to flash it to my l600 with the twrp recovery, but also want to know what differences if any would there be in these devices? The first thing that comes to mind is the fact that the l600 is factory locked to CDMA, but of course with other awesome people here at xda that can fixed. So other than that, are there componet differences, or perhaps drivers that are specific to the i9205 that aren't correct for the l600? I have my l600 running on GSM network with lte even at times, but i'm stuck on the 4.2.2 rom as well. That's why i'm asking this, because if the difference is just the bands used, then I would think that it would be ok to flash a rom for a i9205 galaxy mega to a l600 galaxy mega. Also, would the custom rom touch my modem messing up the changes I made to the band selection? Thanks!

I'm stuck on 4.2.2 because i chose not to let it update, plus my phone is rooted so the ota updates don't work. But i unlocked my phone so that i can use my att service with it. updating the mega with the ota updates updates the modem and bootloader with knox which doesn't allow for flashing custom roms.
I want to bump this thread because I too want to know the answer. The L600 I have is only being used as a tablet, so as long as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work I could care less about the cellular functionality.
Nobody?
If your phone has recovery installed. Why don't you add mumtirom, and try flashing the ROM as a secondary and see what happens. If it works, you're golden. If it doesn't, you didn't lose anything.
Multirom doesn't support SPH-L600

My boyfriend's AT&T Galaxy Alpha just auto-updated to lollipop.. nothing seem to work correctly, even with a factory reset. Everything was working perfectly fine on Kit Kat. I was wondering is it possible to downgrade back to Kit Kat with this phone?
I have limited experience with Android. I know it is possible to do this for devices that is rooted (e.g my Galaxy S5 or my Nexus 7). But I don't quite know where to start for the SM-850A, where the device is not rooted.

Hello,
Downgrading is not shown as an option, neither is someone working on a root exploit for either of the versions (KitKat and Lollipop in this case) so I guess you're stuck with the Lollipop version. Although its not that bad you could wait for someone to release a rooting method so it could get easier for you to downgrade but until then you're stuck :/ Sad to say there arent much choices with that model :/
Best regards,
James

Thanks James! yeah I know this model doesn't have a root and I don't think it will ever be an option (never say never but meh!)... But curious was it possible to downgrade without a root. Thanks for answering my question I like the phone, I did buy it for myself (and the bf too).. but I returned it after seeing there was no root... but the bf kept his...now he is hating it!

Hello,
The issue is that you cannot get the KitKat firmware from anywhere, nobody has ever tried to upload it at all, otherwise I would of recommended it for sure.

Sorry but just like the thousands of us you are stuck without root. 4.4.4 is the lowest you can go back to so you can only do 4.4.4 or 5.0. There is a rumor that someone may have found an exploit and make it available later in January or in February, but it is only rumor and no one has cracked it yet.

I too heard this rumor...
searched and searched.......then bought a Note 3 off ebay on 4.4.2 already rooted. Hoping to sell the unrooted Note 3 on ebay for close to or maybe more than the rooted phone. The rumor will most likely end up like they always do....nowhere.
I hope the rumors are true. I can't find anything about who is working and releasing the root method for 4.4.4. Just posts about it's supposed release. I don't want to downgrade until it is official.
You can wish in one hand and sh!+ in the other, and see which gets filled first.
Yeah, they're likely false as always. The real devs have moved on from this device awhile ago.
Dang. Can't even get my Note to downgrade from 5.0 to 4.4.4. Wish there was a way to do a total factory restore, taking me back to 4.4.2 (like how those who upgraded Win8 to 8.1 would revert back to 8 after factory restore). Lately, I've been craving my root, and I don't have the ability to upgrade to Nexus 6P for another 3 months. Meh.. A man can hope, that's for sure!
My Note 3 is still on 4.4.2. I was thinking of upgrading. Bad idea? D:

well that's your problem, use Verizon image N900VVRUDNJ6 or N900VVRUDNK1

This still won't get you root though,. I have an unused note 3 so I threw everything at it and bricked it several times. I gave up and just bought an already rooted note 3 from eBay then sold the unrooted phone.
