[Solved] PIN Became Incorrect - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear Guru, Developers and Users
Today I encountered a strange problem.
I've been using my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (with a lock PIN) for about a year.
I didn't change the PIN and it was the same PIN all the time.
However, as of this morning, when I woke up, I used it to check emails.
After that I went shower and when I came back and tried to unlock it, it said incorrect PIN.
I did type in correct same PIN that has been using for a year.
But, now it keeps on saying it's wrong.
I really don't know what else to do other than hard reset and I don't really understand why.
So, please kindly help me and share your experiences/knowledge to overcome this.
:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
PS: I installed a new keyboard a week ago. Is that the cause? But, it was working fine until now.
Thanks!

It saved my life. luckily, I've linked my Samsung account before with the device.

[Q] "Insert sim card" error :(

Hi
Recently my S2 just stopped reading my SIM when I was going to call someone. Since then it has refused to read my SIM, or any other SIM for that matter.
To fix this problem I've tried resetting the phone to factory settings (in 3 different ways ( hard-reset.com/samsung-i9100-galaxy-s2-hard-reset.html )) with no luck.
I've also tried installing alternative ROM's, but with the same result.
The phone was already rooted with an insecure kernel when this happened, so warranty is long gone.
Though, one thing I did realize was that even though I did hard-reset the phone several times, some of the settings on the phone remained untouched, like my locking pattern and a few other settings. Does this mean that hard-resetting the phone isn't really an actual hard-reset? If that's so, is there any way to properly 100% reset the phone?
In short; I'm running out of options on how to fix this. I refuse to believe it's hardware related, just because I'm stubborn like that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated (really).

You can refuse to believe in gravity too, but falling from high distances will still hurt.
If you tried more than one SIM in the phone and none work, but those same SIMs work in other phones, than more than likely, it is hardware related.
Did you check you imei?
078gregory brings up a good point. So if it's not missing IMEI info, THEN it's likely hardware.
Isn't it funny how everything suddenly works itself out once you cry out for help?
Today I've been trying around 10 different ROM's on the phone. Custom and stock. As one last attempt I gave a random ICS 4.0.3 march ROM a last try, and guess what. I got the SIM prompt. I can not believe it. So yeah, it's working now. I have no idea what caused it, but I believe the phone was stuck in flight mode somehow, and just needed an extra push to get out.
Either way, it's working like a charm now. Thanks for the replies though.

Hi people. I have the same problem Habitats decribes. Mi s2 is stuck in flightmode and cant get out! i have reset the phone in every kind of way but no succes. Now i read here on this forum that flashing my phone to ICS 4.0.3 can help solve the problem. I'm on 2.3.6 now. This flightmode thing happened al over sudden. I have done nothing strange with the phone. Its not rooted either. I was planning to go to a samsung servicepoint and let them check whats wrong. But now i read this thread and see that i can relate to this problem of Habitats. I think a also will try to flash ICS 4.0.3 and watch what happens. But theres another problem. KIES don't recognize my phone anymore so what can i do? Can someone please help me out? Thanks in advance
I'm having the exact same problem, could you please tell me which rom worked for you Habitats? Thanks in advance!
Update:Last tuesday i went to the vodafone store were they have a samsung service department also. I explained my problem to them but they don't seem to recognize the problem. Although i read that many people here at xda's and over the internet have similar issues with this phone.Strange! So they sent it to the repair centre. Yesterday i could see in the track and trace menu of the repair centre that my fone was ready and send back to the vodafone store. Status: Boardswap. So they swapped the whole board! Didn't know that the problem was that serious! So i hope i can pickup my galaxy s2 soon this coming week!! I can't wait!I'm on my old HTC Touch HD now. Its ok with the windows but on Android....Arggghh!! Whatsapp is a pain and more. Its so laggy!. I will give an update soon again!

[Q] Fingerprint Scanner allowing access to anybody.

Hi all, I have recently bought an international Galaxy S6 EDGE. My fingerprint scanner was working fine until yesterday. My friend somehow managed to get INTO my phone with fingerprint locked. He was able to unlock it. I was shocked. He got into it twice. Sometimes it allows him to get inside, sometimes it doesn't. Today, I managed to unlock my phone, using fingers I have never registered before. I wiped my home button several times with wet tissue etc. Still same.
Light taps on the home button unlocks my phone. But if I hold my unregistered fingers there, it will show no match.
I am seriously confused. I hope somebody can shed some light on this issue!
Thank you.

Weird indeed, this never happens to me, though directly after turning on my device, i received an update, that said something about Fingerprint sensor, I don't know whether it was an issue that got fixed by the update. Maybe you should search for that update if you don't have it installed already

Latest updates already installed. No idea what is happening.. I already tried switching locks then back to fingerprint. Same thing.

Did you try deleting all fingerprints and assigning new ones? If that doesn't help I think your last resort would be a factory reset
Spoke to Samsung today. They say it's a known issue and the device needs to be reflashed or if it's less than 28 days old your entitled to a new phone.

Is there any way to get data from this phone I got?

So i got this situation going on, I hope someone here can help me.
My mom recently passed away. She owned a Huawei Mate 10 Pro and we want to get all the pictures from that phone. The problem is, that the screen is locked with a PIN and we have no idea what the PIN is. (We already tried everything that made sense to us)
Does someone here have any idea if it's still possible to get the data from this phone, and how I can do that?
Thanks in advance!

Lost ability to Iris Unlock without secure lock screen in Samsung Pay

I don't know what happened but I have lost ability to iris unlock and use Samsung Pay without setting secure lock screen since a couple of days ago. Not sure why, tried restarting and cleaning cache memory in S. Pay and S Pass but to no avail. Anyone experiencing same thing? Is there any workaround? To bad if this is not fixable since I used this alot.. I am not rooted and worked like charm untill few days ago. Any help would be appreciated.
Correct me if I'm wrong, i think is Samsung Pay updated which required u do that now.

@koolboyztn is correct Samsung changed it and you're required to have a secure lock screen because it would be rather easy for someone to steal your information from your phone if you ever lose it or if someone steals it.. The way it's setup now they won't be able to get any information from it..

Swipe code changed in middle of the night? Phone hacked?

So this isn't my phone, it's my sisters. Over a year ago after she first got it she gave it to one of her sketchier friends to use and it was out of her possession for several hours. She got it back and didn't think much of it until in upcoming weeks her "friend" ended up showing up at places my sister happened to be and a number of coincidences that were hard to explain unless someone had access to not only her texts but also somehow hear her calls.
I thought she was crazy but nevertheless checked her phone best I could, not that I am an Android expert by any means but I didn't see anything that stood out.
So over the next few months my sister and her friend had some big fights and for all practical purposes stopped being friends. Months went by without anything weird but then yesterday my sister was talking to a girl who is a mutual friend of both my sister and her ex-friend... My sister was still upset with the other girl and called the ex-friend some truly nasty things. Not that she should ever have heard any of this but...
When my sister woke up this morning for the first time ever her unlock code (which was a swipe code where you draw the lines) had somehow changed. She tried over and over it just didn't work. She ultimately got access back by logging into her Samsung account online and restoring access,
I;m at a loss, never heard of this happening, been using the same type of phones myself since they've been out and never heard of this happening before.
What do you guys think? Could her ex-friend really have been in control of this phone the entire time? Any place to look for it?
